I have a number of 3800's with background problems. I've reset SP's
per the troubleshooting guide, ran toner refresh, reset TD values,
checked bias and charge connections, replaced dev and pcu's, etc.
Nothing seems to be a long term fix. Upgraded ROM's with new SP's-
no help. Background usually gets worse farther into the run.
I'd appriciate ANY help. Thanks.

To All,

Ricoh has a fix for the low humidity backgrounding problem on the model
2138. They have changed the developer assembly and made a cut in during
production. There is no difference in the ordering data.

Essentially, they increased the speed of the agitation roller revolution by
1.5 times which changes the toner distribution and charge properties. It
is easy to identify the new style developers - see attached picture.

I have checked our stock and all of stock at the Tucker warehouse is the
new style developers. We should see the problem disappear quickly as the
developers are replaced, and as the temperatures in the northern climates
rise, and heating systems are used less.

Please feel free to pass this information on to whom ever you believe
should have it.

Vince, - Please pass this onto the dealer organization.

Gene, - Please pass this onto the regional trainers.

Jeff, - Please share this with the other DSMs in your area.
