Colligo, a leader in enterprise SharePoint collaboration, today launches Colligo Briefcase for Mac, the world’s first product to integrate SharePoint into Finder, providing Mac users with a seamless SharePoint experience.

The launch of Briefcase for Mac benefits companies in many ways, the most important of which is the company-wide availability of SharePoint enterprise content management on any desktop, laptop and handheld device. Having all employees, be they Mac, PC, or handheld device owners, using the same product increases productivity and improves secure document management across the board.

“The Colligo Briefcase product suite extends capabilities offered by Microsoft’s OneDrive for Business (formerly SkyDrive Pro) solution by including support for a broad range of platforms – including Mac, iOS and Windows – allowing connectivity to both on-premise and cloud-based SharePoint, and providing advanced ECM features such as email management and metadata,” says Trevor Dyck, Director, Product Management, Colligo.

Areas where Briefcase for Mac benefits companies are:

User adoption: allowing access to company-wide projects across PC, Mac and handheld device users, means employees can engage more easily in company-wide projects, where those would have been difficult for Mac users with a previously poor experience.

Document management: where Mac users may have previously relied on thumb drives or unmanaged emails that in turn had repercussions on version management and reconciliation of documents, Briefcase for Mac brings Mac users into the company’s SharePoint ecosystem. Documents can now be managed from creation through revision to approval with no detours.

Email management: Briefcase for Mac allows users to drag and drop emails from all major email clients in order to upload and manage them through SharePoint integration with Finder. This feature also automatically extracts email metadata and uses renaming to avoid duplication.

Offline access: as with all Colligo products, Briefcase for Mac allows for offline access to SharePoint files for employees when they don’t have Internet access. Employees can remain productive in airplanes, subways, and rural areas in an approved and secure SharePoint environment, and the company can rest easy that employees are not relying on local hard drives or thumb drives to access proprietary documents.

Broad support: understanding that companies use many different versions of SharePoint, as with all its other products Colligo ensures Briefcase for Mac has broad support, from SharePoint 2007 through 2013, as well as Office 365 and OneDrive for Business (formerly called SkyDrive Pro) for personal storage.
