Plano, Texas (April 11, 2013) - Muratec America, Inc., manufacturer of multifunction office equipment and business productivity solutions, announces today the availability of two new A4 monochrome multifunction printers (MFP’s), the MFX-3510 and MFX-3530.
“The MFX-3510 and MFX-3530 are the right multifunction document solutions for today’s office environment,” said Jim D’Emidio, President, Muratec America, Inc. “As companies strive for improvements in the areas of business intelligence, customer service and cost control, the demand for electronic document capture, workflow and storage solutions has never been greater. The MFP has taken a central role in these efforts by acting as the document onramp to workflow solutions, while delivering cost savings in relation to other office requirements such as printing, faxing and copying. The MFX-3510 and MFX-3530 fit perfectly into these environments by enabling companies to deploy powerful document capture and workflow solutions directly onto the desktops of their employees.”

The MFX-3510 and MFX-3530 feature standard 37 page-per-minute simplex output, 10 page-per-minute duplex output, 80-sheet automatic document feeder, legal-size platen glass, 10/100 BaseT Ethernet port, local USB port, direct USB host port (print from / scan to USB flash drives), 512-MB memory, 33.6 Kbps fax modem and 600x 600 dpi color scanner.

The MFX-3530 comes with a standard 80-sheet duplexing automatic document feeder (DADF) that enables two-sided color scanning in a single path.

The MFX-3510 features a 5-line LCD display and one-touch fax / scan access from the control panel, while the MFX-3530 offers a 5.8” monochrome touch screen that can be fully customized to each user’s preference. Both units feature the “My MFP” mode, which enables each user to customize a single screen with the features they use most often, regardless of the mode in which the feature normally resides.

Both models ship with a standard paper capacity of 600 sheets, consisting of (1) 500-sheet paper cassette that can handle up to legal-size paper, as well as a 100-sheet multipurpose bypass tray that can handle letterhead, transparencies, envelopes and various other media. An additional 500-sheet paper cassette can be added to the MFX-3510 to bring the total paper capacity to 1,100-sheets. The MFX-3530 supports up to (3) additional paper cassettes for a maximum paper capacity of 2,100-sheets.

Muratec also offers a MFX-3530X model which includes the base unit, (3) additional paper cassettes and a small paper cassette.

Both units feature a 250-sheet output tray and can be outfitted with an optional 2-bin output tray to separate copy, fax and print job. The 2-bin tray can hold up to 150-sheets and is attached to the outside of the machine to offer easy access to documents.

Printing Features

The MFX-3510 and MFX-3530 feature standard PCL 6 network printing. Supported features include secure printing, watermarks, job tray selection and duplexing. The system supports printing from Windows, AS/400, SAP, UNIX and Citrix environments.

An optional PostScript3 enabler (PS750) can be added to enable compatibility with a variety of Linux and Mac operating systems. The PS750 option also enables direct PDF printing in which the device will receive and print PDF files without having to print through an application.

A barcode enabler (BC750) can be added to enable users to print a variety of barcodes including Code39, Code 128, Postnet, MSI, UPC-A, EAN/JAN and Interleave25.

Scanning Features

The MFX-3510 and MFX-3530 feature a high-resolution color scanner and can deliver documents to PC folders (DirectScan™), e-mail addresses, FTP locations, USB flash drives or document management applications (ScanTag®) at the touch of a button.

DirectScan™ is a key feature as it allows customers to perform a real-time browse of their network file structure and directly scan documents into specified folders, without having to install any additional hardware or software connectors. This operation mirrors the file searching process that Windows Explorer users have become accustomed to using on their PC. Up to 300 folder shortcut keys can be registered for one-touch scan initiation.

The optional ScanTag® application enables users to seamlessly capture metadata and document images from the MFX-3530 and transport them directly into document management systems for automatic indexing. Using this feature companies can deploy powerful document on-ramps into individual workgroups to increase the usage and success of their document management program. ScanTag has been certified for use with document management solutions from Computhink, DocuWare, Doculex, iDatix, InfoDynamics, Prism Software, Rebus Technologies, SentryFile and Square 9 Softworks.

“ScanTag® continues to be an in-demand application as more companies deploy document management and workflow solutions ,” said D’Emidio. “By combining ScanTag® with the high-resolution color scanner, efficient DADF and touch screen operation on the MFX-3530, we’re able to offer a desktop scanning solution that provides unmatched performance and greatly boosts workgroup productivity.”

The MFX-3530 also supports scanning into cloud-based storage solution such as Evernote™.

Faxing Features

On the fax side the internal address book can house up to 1000 locations, each containing both a fax number and e-mail address. Users may import contacts from Microsoft Outlook (vCard) or other contact management databases (CSV). The intuitive PC fax driver enables users to send documents directly from PC applications to remote fax terminals.

Both devices support group dialing (100 groups), broadcasting (mixed fax/e-mail broadcasting supported), transmission confirmation reports, inbound fax routing to e-mail or PC folder and secure fax reception.

Although companies are migrating from dedicated analog fax lines to network fax servers, a majority of users still require a method of sending hardcopy documents to a remote fax terminal. Both devices meet this requirement using the optional e-mail gateway application, which allows a user to enter a fax number (as they would when sending a regular fax) and press [Start]. The MFP will take the number that was entered and automatically convert it into a dialing string that can be utilized by the fax server.

Device & Document Security

Both devices deliver a host of security features designed to restrict device access, audit usage and insure document integrity.

IT administrators can control device access using IP/MAC address filtering, port disabling and user authentication (Windows Active Directory). The MFP’s can be accessed using the intuitive OfficeBridge™ browser interface and traffic between the MFP and the PC can be encrypted using SSL. Outbound e-mail transmission can also be SSL encrypted.

In an effort to retain all fax and e-mail communications that are transmitted from the MFP, both models feature automatic transmission archiving to a secured network location. In the event of an audit all fax and e-mail transmissions can be quickly located. Inbound fax transmissions can be automatically routed to an e-mail inbox or network location to prevent sensitive fax data from being compromised.

“We’re having more conversations with customers regarding MFP security than ever before,” said Lou Stricklin, Director of Marketing, Muratec America, Inc. “We designed the MFX-3510 and MFX-3530 to help companies meet their security goals by allowing them to easily restrict device access, monitor device usage and protect document integrity throughout the capture, routing and output cycles.”

As for document storage Muratec has removed these capabilities from the internal device memory and has created an application called OfficeBridge™ Docs. This application resides on a networked PC and enables users to scan, share and print documents on-demand from the Muratec MFP. Once installed, users can location their OfficeBridge Docs folder on the MFP and print documents from the folder (print on demand) or scan documents into their folder.

Managed Document Services

The MFX-3510 and MFX-3530 feature an enhanced MIB structure that provides detailed machine data and real-time alerts to print management tools from MWA Intelligence, PrintFleet and FM Audit.

“A4 multifunction printers are one of the core components of our Managed Document Services (MDS) program,” said Stricklin. The MFX-3510 and MFX-3530 address MDS by offering powerful desktop document capture, one-touch delivery into document workflow/management applications, enhanced reporting into popular print management tools and cost-effective operation.”

The MFX-3510 features an MSRP of $3,495. The MFX-3530 features an MSRP of $3,995, while the MFX-3530X features an MSRP of $5,895.00.
