At first glance, the only things different are the Model #'s are followed by an "e", and there is a new fax option the "Fax Option Type 2045e". All the accessories are the same. No prices have changed. However, the SU price of the boxes themselves droped by about $300-$400. The Retails all remained the same. So I would guess, if you have a 2035/2045 on your demo floor, all you would have to purchase under the Demo program is a box and a fax option if you need it. Use the accessories on the 2035/2045 you have to deck it out and sell the old box quickly. Pretty easy...huh?
According to our information Aficio 2035 models were depleted from Ricoh's USA inventory a week ago. They were subbing Aficio 2035G models but those too are now gone. Also the new "e" models feature the latest architecture: LDAP, subject entry to 64 characters (in scan mode), message entry to 1 line of 80 characters (5 lines x 80 characters w/o subject) and the ability to name the doc (all when in scanning mode).
It is more expensive and you're right, that it is not the way to do it.
I only added that P.S. to your email in case there are others out there like me (and I suspect you) who have to be careful what old inventory they get stuck with. I happen to have a Type 2045 Print/Scan that I need to find a home for. I usually inventory a Kit so that we can respond to an "emergency" install even if all we have is non-S/P versions available.

We end up having to eat the difference in cost at the end of the product cycle but has saved us on more than a few occassions.
Ted:

At the very bottom of the pricing that you sent me (the email message) this was stated.

"I regret to inform you" that there was a "glitch" in a formula brought to my attention, affecting Pages 1,3 and 6 of the DMAP Levels 1-6 mailing of yesterday!

3 Products affected:

BlueTooth Unit Type 2238 (product number 411603) for Levels 2,3,4
Type 2045e Scan/Print Bundle (product number 001896MIU) for Levels 2,3
DOT Office (product number 001727MIU) for Levels 3,4

"I regret to inform you" that there was a "glitch" in a formula brought to my attention, affecting Pages 1,3 and 6 of the DMAP Levels 1-6 mailing of yesterday!

For those of you who prefer not to print out the entire price list, the changes are noted by the symbol (Embedded image moved to file:
pic12623.pcx) to the left of the products on Pages 1,3 and 6, and the prices affected / changed are underlined.

Thank you!

The whole deal, from what I understand and according to our Ricoh Rep on the 2035-45E is that this system has all the new firmware on it to make it LDAP etc for the scanning. It also allows for SMTP authentication which the existing 2035-45 do not do. Basiclly has all the same features on it as the 2022/27 does for network connectivity. I also understand that, in the spirit of customer service, with the release of the E version, Ricoh is NOT going to release any firmware updates for all of the 2035-45 systems out there to make them actually work right on the network (IE: SMTP Authentication and LDAP). From what our rep told us, it is a major bone of contention because rather than release a whole new E model and confuse everyone, they could have released a firmware update and made everyone happy BUT... now our customers who are left high and dry on the brand new copier that they bought that will not scan to email because of either their IT departments set up or their ISP setup are still stuck and Ricoh is telling them tough cookies, that is just the way it is buddy. Thanks Ricoh for taking care of your customers! We will probably be stuck replacing print/scan dimms on 2035's with the E version Print/Scan dimm if it works. We are going to test one in the next couple weeks.

That's my soapbox speech!
