Art... you'd make $1 million a year if you sold Canon! Love the idea of the staple-free stapler though - not sure if it would be worth it because staples are so cheap and most companies would probably charge double over a regular staple finisher.

How about an entry level wide format printer based on GelSprinter technology? $3-5K price range. A quality Tabletop B/W with a full sized display and a low cpc.

What does "drop out colour send" mean?
Comment

Re: Ricoh MP 401SPF Spec Review

Art Post ·
Drop Out Color Send When scanning in B&W, users can choose to NOT capture a specific color -red, green, or blue - from a scanned page. This is useful when extracting data from forms, or to enhance OCR scanning accuracy by narrowing the range of color characters to be interpreted as editable text.

Can you expand on Distributed Scan management? I am use to the idea of creating one touch buttons or templates on the copier control panel to enable scanning or workflows. How is this different? Or is it just marketing?

Art, I think Samsung needed to do this test to shut the mouths of the critics. Now anyone who wonders or asks if the Samsungs are reliable will get a link to this test. You need to have a "Not Available" option. I just left the question unanswered but that skews the results. For instance, there is no way my company would allow a segment 2 to be placed without a base no matter the cost per image was.

I call used machines "Off Lease" and tell the prospect to think of them as a program car, still very good but someone else took the retail hit. I say if a used machine needs to be re furbished I don't buy them. I don't sell used machines with high meters with the exception of Ricoh's "Greenline", we don't know the meters on those and I'm not impressed with those, lots of quality issues.

@printguy @Art Post We have not sold a single one yet. Most people seem to have no interest in ink. I like the product. It is a Kyocera finisher. The problem with the finisher is that it slows the machine down to half speed. So ultimately someone is getting a 50ppm system, not a 100ppm if you have the finisher. Space is an issue if you have the finisher. I talk about the product to everyone but most people revert back to a toner system. I don't think this is going to be a game changer as...

Thanks for the info @Jason H . That's unfortunate, however I get the aversion to ink. Looking at this product it appeared Epson had perfected it. However I don't think I could sell a copier that has a huge paper curl. I never thought it would have a page curl as there is no fuser.

Re: Who's Afraid of the Epson WorkForce C20590 100ppm MFP?

Jason H ·
I think the part of the problem is even though the ink is dry, it has a moist feeling to it. When it drops off into the trays there is a hump (see pic) that the paper drops out on. I think that is part of the problem with the curl. The prints look good and once I lay the paper out on a desk it flattens out but in my opinion it just does not demo well with regular paper.

This is such a true scenario and unfortunately one we see in the "for profit" business world too. Fuji might be the modern version of Konica’s Ikon CPP500 & Danka. What’s old could be new again. Xerox floats the idea of buying HP on the same day that the Fuji Xerox/ Xerox tussle seems to be resolved. Does that sound like a coincidence? I think Art hit the nail on the head when he said "In addition they would not have to purchase MFP's from Fuji Film in the future." I think this is Xerox's way of letting Fuji Xerox know that they do not hold all of the cards.
