Re: Print Control/Mgmt

John MacInnes ·
Hi Everyone, Thanks for your posts. Every year or two we see new, low cost competitors that come out of the woodwork for a little while. We are selling against these guys the same as you fight your low cost competitors. There are a few obvious detriments that seem to have stood the test of time. The revenue model can not possibly be profitable for 80% of your customers. Ridiculously low is exactly that, ridiculous and unsustainable. $500 worth of technical support will be used up mighty...

Obviously, I am not in your office but I feel I can guess what the purpose of those signs are and I have a hard time believing that they are suggesting that open dialog with peers on subjects designed (for the most part) to improve our production and effectiveness is the type of dialog they seek to condemn. Nude photos or threats against the President maybe but P4P hotel? Surely they have bigger things to worry about.

Re: Proximity Card Reader

montecore ·
There are several ways that you can do this. Are you planning to use the HOTEL door cards? You will have to verify what type of card they are using. These might not be prox cards. Please provide more info to better help you. The best way to know for sure is get a card and test it. Not all cards work. 1) Dept ID's, those will have to be set up on the fly for clients. 2) AAProx with Tracker. AAProx is the card reader and Tracker is the software that allows charge back. 3) You can use...

Re: Proximity Card Reader

Thanks for the update. Who said they were compatible with MIFARE cards? Magnetic strip cards is what I figured the hotel was using. Those work by a different mechanism. As Vince mentioned you can look at UniFlow but that might be a pricey option. You can also add a credit card/bill/coin-op solution for the business center. This is an easy way for walk up traffic. That way it keeps the front office people out of the equation to cash out guest. When you mention cloud printing what type are you...

The only information I have I got from P4P Hotel. Under the "Announcements" Topic, Ted has posted a Ricoh's Rollout Schedule for January-April 2003. In that it says the 1085 is being replaced with the 1090 and under "New Hardware Options" it says it will have GBC Online Punch, and choice of 6 replaceable customer diesets which I am guessing are the punch units.

This means you must continuously learn about the technology that you build solutions around. And that technology changes at least a little with each new product that is released into the field. What shame……………………… Like most of us I never met Greg but I valued is input. We should do something to remember Greg. How about this; Members submit their success stories here at the hotel. On Feb. 1st 2005 the managers or a committee review the success stories and pick the best 5 or so. Then members vote on which story is the best (not necessarily $$ wise) and then on February 14th of 2005 the votes are tallied and we award the Gregory Brown Memorial Achievement Award.
