Re: Saudi-Based United Carton Industries Company Invests in Digital with EFI Nozomi Corrugated Printer

Art Post ·
Ever since I saw the name Nozomi I was curious where it came from. I found this on wikipedia Nozomi ( Japanese : のぞみ , lit. "Wish" or "Hope," and known before launch as Planet-B ) was a Mars orbiter that failed to reach Mars due to electrical failures. The mission was terminated on December 31, 2003. Art, we've got a rep that covers York / Gettysburg and he confirmed this. He said he heard it went down ~ 6 months ago and they started reaching out to clients towards the end of 2019 to let them know. Gonna be a big change as Quality had a lot of loyal clients (also were giving away service at rates like .003 & .032- > I've gotta imagine that'll change quickly)

Re: MPS and Linux HELP!

jdicarlo ·
So some clarification first. PaperCut absolutely does support Mac. In fact, it is the only cost recovery/print control solution that I know of that actually installs in an all Mac environment. (Server and Client) It also is the only solution I know of that installs in a Linux environment. So both of your issues are solved with PaperCut. I included the install guides for Mac and Linux to get you started.

I have been an independent consultant for the office technolgy industry since 1994 and in the industry since 1981. My experience with eAutomate is very limited (mainly word of mouth from industry collegues) but I have been told that the service contract invoicing (the profit bread and butter of the industry) and financial modules are not as flexible or capable as...

Art, How big is there Active Directory? If you are using the basic syntax CN=Users, dc=abc, dc=com ? If they have multiple OUs (Organizational Units) you may be able to use this syntax OU=Users, OU=Dallas, dc=abc, dc=com Then set up another LDAP search for a different location OU=Users, OU=Boston, dc=abc, dc=com This way each location has a quicker and separate LDAP search. There is a free ldap browser from Softerra that can help you figure out the exact syntax of the OUs. Just don't use...

Monte, I can't answer the question about hanging the cheap PC on the MAC network. However you can accomplish a workaround with the fax board, docuement mall, some type of efax service and a LAN Fax program for Mac (is there a WINFAX for MAC?). Have the efax service or equivulant deliver the mail as tiff or pdf to the mail address for an "incoming fax" folder in doc mall. From there the user can view and distrbute the faxes via email to the other Mac users. This will also enable them for Scan...

Re: Scanning with 3224

John ·
I have had this happen before and it was always to do with the smtp server name. Double check that you have the right name input into the system aaa@222.com. Also you may want to find the IP address of the smtp and try inputing that instead of a name. Not a real technical explanation of a fix, but when the dot com didn't work, the IP address did.

Re: Scanning with 3224

v-tec ·
Try this, 1) ping the “SMTP(server name).com” and see if you get a reply, which would be the address. If so, then you know you can reach it. 2) Make sure you enter the 2 or 3 DNS server addresses in the MFP. 3) If using a Linksys router and verizon or other DSL Make sure you have MTU set (number).

Is your folder accessible from the other workstations? Also, are you logging into that folder from the client PC's using the administrator login? If you can access the folder from a client PC, using the Admin login, can you create a file in that folder, then try to delete it? If you can do this then you do have FULL access rights. If you can do all the above, then it seems everything is working. If you can't it must be setting on the server, double check everything. If everything works it...

Re: Can a Digital Copier Scan to Dropbox?

GrantW ·
Great Post Art. Xerox have a DropBox app available for their new ConnectKey devices but the user has to buy a scanpack which cover X number of scans and has a 12 month shelf-life. The advantages of having it on the MFD as an App is that any user (e.g. at a college) can log in to their DropBox account and print or scan to / from their own account securely. We've been doing the same as you and circumventing the charge or need for an app by pointing the scan to a DropBox folder on a desktop.

Re: Memjet and Canon Enter Into Cross-License Inkjet Technology Agreement

This announcement is HUGE! For a wide format buff like me, this gives Canon the ability to compete with HP PageWide. It will probably be a few years before we see any print devices, but we all know time goes so quickly. In addition we'll probably see A3 ink MFP's also. Just boggles my mind that the likes of KIP, nor Ricoh has committed to Memjet's waterfall print head yet

Canon needs to make serious improvements to the technology, The Oce Velocity, and the Xerox IJP 2000 were both Memjet large format machines and both were epic failures. Why would KIP get involved with Memjet? The 800 and 900 series machines are doing great against the HP Pagewide. If Canon can implement there printhead technology into the Memjet Printhead we may have something.

Toshiba Tec has been manufacturing inkjet print heads for industry for many years. Japanese manufacturers that make and provide copiers worldwide are facing stagnation in the demand for their products, mainly due to the market saturation in advanced countries and a reduction in profits from consumables. I guess depends if you are reseller or an end-user. If you are a reseller and want some margin, I would buy wholesale from a disti. If you are an end-user that you can't access Tech Data anyway, so staples.com or CDW,com would be just fine.
