Re: HP 4100mfp
I have had this compete against this unit. Here are a few points. [LIST]THe fax option is a special give away promo and the customer has to wait four to six weeks for it and they have to install themselves. [LIST]THe Fax board is an analog 14.4 modem (it's old)! [LIST]CPC is over a penny! HP yield is based on 5% coverage and the true yields are 20% less than stated. [LIST]Our MFP yield is 6% coverage 20% more! Do the math! Re: GlobalScan Training
We have a 40-system install of Global Scan and the need for training is minimal for the Ricoh reps and the end-user. Global Scan has fewer options for customizing a scanned document compared to Scanrouter Lite or Pro. Also, the options for sending are found in one spot and not broken out into several tabs. Operating GS is easy, the issues I have are with the software itself. There are at least two glitches with the software or MFP firmware that Ricoh has yet to fix. Our customer has had the...

Thanks for the feedback. We've got a deal similar to what you have that we are working on here as well. I was going over some stuff today that was user comments about e-copy. Something that one user liked was how e-copy could put a copy of the sent document in their Outlook Sent Items folder. With GlobalScan, when you have network authentication turned on, the person who logs in is automatically added in the Send To list. I was told also that a new release of GlobalScan will be coming soon...

Re: 1st Qtr
Yep, we got off to a slow start as well. Ricoh said we were running at the top of their growth list. Wondering where we are fairing at the moment. The light's on though. Already at 85% of this months quota and only 10% from List. Sounds like we may all have felt a little bit O' da world here at home... Thank goodness for the 1224 & 1232 for drumming up some opportunities all around. GOOD SELLING!!! -Greg

And it is an additional option for the Saddle Stitch Finisher (That finisher has a $10,500 List and the folder has a $5700 list). Compare that to a $5200 list on our SR860 and if you want to get really carried away the list on the SR85 Booklet Maker is only $9750 and will be available for the 2090,2105 soon. (Though I don't think it can "Z" fold. Another consideration is that you can buy a folding unit that will do ALL of your folding off line for less than $3000.00. That's my 2 cents worth!

Re: Lookinf for Independent Dealers for National Installs
Dmap it and the dealer will be authorized ricoh dealers...you can specify which dealer. To find dealer go to ricoh-usa.com then go to contact ricoh then service location database then select state and product line. This is the best way to find independent dealers. There is also a master list you can try to get from your DSM, but that is always the hardest.

Re: Current Lease Rates
All this talk about rates looks at leasing only from a selfish point of view without regard to the commitment your customer will make based on your recommendation. You can't ignore rates but what about forced insurance, late fees and grace periods, renewal terms, buy-out options and expenses, whether there will be property Tax assessed and how accurate will be the assessment... For these reasons and more, I'm willing to have a slightly higher rate (.0271 - o Down - 36mo. FMV) with American...

Re: Padded Lease Rates! Ethical or Unethical,
As a rep who can decide to do business with several leasing companies, I don't just shop the rates between leases. Each company has their advantages and disadvantages and the price/value equation is simple to determine. I know we have dealt with the Wells Fargos in the past and know better than to allow our customers to enter into those agreements. My best advice for reps, new or old, would be to get to know your financing options. The worst you can do is to miscommunicate equipment...

Your Competitive Advantage Selling Your Unique Attributes What's your competitive advantage? You can turn those cold calls into warm calls by explaining to your prospect just what makes you unique, different and better than the competition! The best way to explain a competitive advantage is by first talking about what it is not. "We give great customer service" is NOT aunique competitive advantage. Every company in the world makes this claim - whether it is true or not. This type of line is...

Specs for the bizhub are impressive! Here's how I would handle this. 1. I always bundle e-copy "desktop" software with every system. I make sure I show the customer the advantages of the copy desktop software before I speak about speeds and feeds. This software could make the difference in landing the sale or not!! 2. Support is always number one in the customers mind, provide them with a list of customers that you have that they may know. 3. Position yourself as the "expert", dig deep for...

Coming from the "overcoming customer objections" angle, that makes sense. All the same, it's a rare user that would change the bottle themselselves. It requires removing several screws, and two covers that are normally only removed for service. (these covers are a little tricky to replace too). The part number is "B125 3661 Collection Bottle - Used Toner". It is an assembly that has the sensor already attached. At the risk of sounding like a broken record: this is not an item that the...

Re: Email from Canon P4P'er "Ricoh Direct Pricing"
Art, I work in a Ricoh Direct (Lanier legacy) office located in an area where there are three local RFG competitors in our market. We have explicit instructions to disengage (turn around and walk out) if it's an IKON account or one belonging to the two other RFG dealers. Except for IKON, the dealers can compete against our MIFs and do so with no qualms. They kill us on price, too, which seems to be a different situation than is occurring in other parts of the country. As an example, a...

I don't understand standard commission cost. Does that mean you automatically get paid commission if you sell at a certain price to your end user? What about getting paid on GP - gross profit? SO, if that is correct, then, who benefits from the 32% below "standard commission cost"? Do you still have some built-in compensation from this type of transaction? I have to ask because I have only worked for my company and I, like Art, can only assume and extrapolate what pay structures must be like...

Yeah, the specs say 90lb index through the bypass which would mean manual duplex, but customers hear only what they want and will soon be putting plywood through and complaining that they were told it would work. We have decided to show what 90lb index is to our customers and make sure they know that there is a lot of terminology related to paper, (index, bond, cover, bristol cover, etc...) it would be nice if we could have one standardized term. Also, brochures and reams just list 48lbs.
