Surprising there are no replies yet. I would figure this to be a "hot" topic. We recently found one in the age demographic that will work out. He has more than a 45 minute ride, has closed a few orders already. Maybe you need to show them $500 at the interview and ask how they would like to get that $500, by working a week or trying to talk you out of it. After reading your thread it seems that neither of those "salespeople" have the "desire" to compete, yet alone the determination to "win".

Good god. what a piece of work (Putting it nicely). Talk about screwing over your employees. At what point did this seem like a good idea for a company of Pats size. I know everyone is hurting but the 100 mil dealer is not hurting like the 5-10 mil dealer right now in my opinion. Glad he bowed to the pressure but that should have never been considered.

@msaeger that's a great idea also. We tried that first and could not be ordered. in addition I found that the out put tray for the C6503 is similar in size and heard that it will work. Have someone checking to see if they are available.

John, The PrintCopy Tool compares pretty favorably to Plotworks. I attached two documents to this post. The Product Support Guide lists differences between the two products. The PowerPoint has screen shots of all the settings in PrintCopy Tool. I hope this helps.

I can't answer your question but would like to add another: I understand that you can set this software to enable scanning to email, which in turn you can set up electronic signature for authorising invoices for a work flow? Is this true and what modules do you need?

I do find the Ricoh's to be very reliable. What they need is speed though, IMO. Have worked with a steel maker on some projects and he has 4 big Oce's that run all day long, 5 days a week. He loved the 3406 but said he would have to buy about 8 or 10 of them do the same work the 4 high speed Oce's run. He wouldn't bite on the 7140's either.

Art, I call Bull ****! At least for our industry, the copier industry! This may be true of a commodity (like envelopes, or coffee, or even a PC) but copiers, really MFDs require a lot of attention, both before and after a customer buys it. This article seems to be written by an old brick & mortar company that successfully transitioned to internet sales. This will work for any company that drop ships their products. So some clarification first. PaperCut absolutely does support Mac. In fact, it is the only cost recovery/print control solution that I know of that actually installs in an all Mac environment. (Server and Client) It also is the only solution I know of that installs in a Linux environment. So both of your issues are solved with PaperCut. I included the install guides for Mac and Linux to get you started.

Wow. No poll answer regarding the rep’s activity…interesting. Over the years I have learned that if you work hard and SMART, you’ll hit your numbers. We called fabsoft and they stated the retail was $3,200, this will not work any other ideas like untilizing an automatic print2file like ecopy and the automate the print process?

Will not work, cause document then needs to be stapled. I do remember that in most printers, you can set a feature where the printer will make a copy of the page that was sent, is this still true in most printers?

Well, I figured out a temp work around. 1. Customer prints invoice to ecopy. 2. While in ecopy, customer makes a copy 3. Customer then slects print, (RPCS driver) 4. Customer selects customized RPCS print IKon we set up. 5. Customer hits ok. Two part form is printed from printer, canary is pulled from second tray, white is pulled from first tray and then stapled. These are work orders that service techs will take in the field with them. Problem is customer states he does not want to use ...

So this effort is eliminate "carbon copied" work orders for service techs? What is wrong with the print "workflow" when the software application that generates a service form cannot be configured to print two of the same item? This is not an easy "printer-centric" fix. The application needs to either carry this information to the printer as part of the job or you must have some print-based software (Planet Press/Dataworks) telling the printer what to do. At this point, what other problems...

No they need to produce two part forms on carbonless paper. well I'm finding that out about the PlanetPress and Dataworks after the fact. The last thing I needed to so was go back and charge more. I had a few birdies that told me it work without any additional software. Oh well, back to the drawing board, and the customer.

Got it figured out. In talking with Ricoh tech support they had me downgrade the Java software to work with PD5. When I loaded PCS (PD6) it did not track scan's and I had forgotten to put the newest Java back on the card. Did that this morning and all is well.

Assumes (uh oh) that the areas deforested were at or above average density, that no areas became more dense, and that measurement in deforesting areas is as aggressive as in reforesting areas. That last one is particularly tough, since the forestation counting task draws folks who drink the Kool-aid "straight" and let their faith ("Ice age is coming! No, wait, we're melting! No... wait... freezing!") influence their work.

Without a value statement that goes beyond copiers and even mps at this point --- people will be selling at cost, because they are transient, non-professional, and either don't have or have confidence in their skill set. The Trick is to work with companies that aren't in the market to buy copiers---I guarantee that their are other challenges that they are facing and trying to overcome...When you do this you can sell at retail, because there is no competition and you earned that commission.

Merlin -- you are absolutley right...like any business there are several costs. but you never know if a dealer had special terms with a their manufacturer to order x amount - or if they were trying to acheive a certain level to hit their quoata or win some award? Really hard to speculate on a business model which we don't know anything about. But the one thing that I do know is that - these idiots are everywhere..... Jason -- no the goal it to print a version of an 11 x 17 drawing and scale down to a letter size document. My PCL and PS3 driver is not reading the lines on the drawing as an image. I posted for a colleague so who just joined so I am not sure of the file format, nor am I familiar w/ this application. 2nd part yes -- they could do that -- that was a quick work around that we did - but was unhappy with the amount of clicks that it had to go through. They have a CANON that does it no problem.

May I put in a plug for my personal cause? As a volunteer at our county's animal shelter, I see first hand the good work this shelter does(as well as all the others around the country). There are so many wonderful, wonderful pets languishing in kennels that are simply awaiting a chance to have a home of their own with a loving family. People can be so incredibly cruel to animals. Thanks Montecore, That makes sense from a business standpoint. I'm still having a hard time with the math though. If you are trying to figure out the effective purchase price, but only know the monthly lease payment, # months, and lease rate - do you have any ways to figure out the purchase price? 0.0302 percent of $6,200 is $198 so that only adds up to $6,339. But if you subtract $6,537 by $6,339 then you get $198 again. Suggesting that the purchase price is roughly 2 times the total lease...

I think it is obvious what you do with people who don't want to work. It is just as obvious what to do with people who DO want to work! Incentives can be a great way to move a product or idea, but dis-incentives are more personal and can be very disruptive for that individual (ie: income tax, sales activity micromanagement). I almost feel this is a chain letter where you replace the name of the company at the top and it becomes a generic gripe about any company. How many IKON's have a "Copy Guy" who makes copies? ... on a separate note, I also worked for IKON and found it to be a horrible place to work. 10 years later, I feel the same way about IKON and do not feel the same about my current employer.

I used to work for a dealership that sold Sharp (when this came out). It is a very nice box, the ultrasonic feeding in awesome, and the pricing for parts and consumables is aggressive. The mistake that Sharp made was to not do a beta program with commercial printers and other high volume users. The irony of Larry's statement is that I would not consider Ricoh a player here. They are chasing Xerox, Canon etc in Seg. 6 and 7, and are seriously held back by their lack of a production color unit.
