Re: Ricoh Ends Relationship with Ratio
RATIO US is now OK'd to sell PLOTBASE software upgrades for all the Wide Format Models (470,240,480,2400/3600, 5100/7140) in addition to external controllers for those models as well. New website is www.ratio.US PLOTBASE 3.7.3 provides up to date PDF processing, full Windows 7 (server & client) OS support and other updated drivers. Same for PLOTBASE 5.5.3 which updates the MP W5100/7140 version.

and this: As far as "proof" that it will work...... I have been a Ricoh WF dealer for 15 years. I have installed the 2400, 3600 and the 3601 on top of 240 roll feeders. They all work. The connectors are exactly the same. The printer does not "know" what roll feed is underneath it.

This Week in the Copier Industry 5 Years Ago (Second Week of February 2015)
It's Friday night and late. Tuesday evening I traveled to Atlantic City for our annual showing of wide format copiers and white boards. Our event started Wednesday in the AM and lasted until 1PM today. I'm getting too old to put in 10 hour days on the show floor (lol). I love doing them because of the interaction with potential clients and you never know who you're going to meet. Re: w2400 & Interface Card?
Jason is exactly correct - you need the interface to conect the Ratio (external) controller to the 2400 / 3600. If you are using the embedded option, you do not need. If you are going to use the embedded scan option (GW), you will need to have the file format converter (FCC). I DON"T KNOW WHY ART - YOU JUST DO!

For the RW-240 & 480, PB version 3.6, plotting from a Vista Biz 32 installed OS (versus 64) is working OK with the regular 32 bit Winprint Windows driver, Autocad HDI driver and Plotclient application, although it is not officially supported. For the new RW-3600 running the traditional Plotbase external controller with the new 3.7 version, you can install the Plotbase Server application on a Vista Biz 32 (or XP-PRO) PC. Using the internal GW controller, it should install just like any other MFP device, just build a printer and share it out on the network. A few things that may or may not pertain to the install: Because of the size of wide format files, many prefer to print from each individual workstation to the wide format device, rather than the server spooling the file. The trade off is the wide format device prints slower because the server is not doing the spooling. The RPCS driver is not really...

$6,500 list..... $5,600 LDP, once you put a MU on it, your sales cost is higher than the MSRP, what the %$#& are they thinking. Realistically, they messed up so bad by not having a color scan option with the new 2400 and 3600 (and nothing forseeable for the next 16 months), that they had to resort to this scanner from Contex. Plus the fact you need a dedicated PC, Touch Screen and the system needs to have a W2400, 2470, W3600 or 480 on the network in order to make this work.

Re: Batches of PDFs ????
The Web Print Tool window is too small and is inferior to KIP and OCE. You cannot view individual PDF's before printing; especially important for a sub-contractor who just needs to print certain drawings from a multi-page PDF bid set. I've had the embedded choke on me the last two recent installs we did with the 3600. Ended up putting the Ratio controller w/ 3.7.3 upgrade and PS license...works great.

Here's some additional points I received from a wide format enthusiast 30D & 12"D" Size speed offerings estimated MSRP of $75K for 30 "D" system estimated MSRP of $50K for 12 "D" system Color Ink and Black are the same cost Limited Dealer Distribution of 60 nationwide Have to have back up print head(s) in stock, very expensive print head If you are a KIP, OCE or Ricoh dealer you have to drop those lines to carry Pagewide Not talking cost per square foot for ink

Ok, just had a chance to review the brochure, it's on the Ricoh USA web site as of today. Couple of items I'm not a happy with. Dual Roll is a standard feature! No doubt, the MSRP be higher compared to the likes of OCE and KIP since they offer single roll devices.
