Re: PCL Drivers and Rotate Sorting

jswinberlin ·
I agree, the PCL5 is better for older applications. However, at some point I feel like you have to go with the new stuff and see if you can make the switch...I've had fairly good luck up until now and when there is a problem (usually a medical office printing from practice management or EMR software that is older). Unfortunately, the PCL5 doesn't resolve the issue either. Here is the best solution I've found so far. 1. When installing the print driver, you go into printing preferences and...

Card Shot from the doc feed...upto 1/2" stack of cards. Card shot in scanning mode not just copy mode. Color dropout...removes all color from scanned documents...all the remains is black data. The toner capacity has doubled in size at 20,000 now therefore the cost per copy can be very low. They also completely rebuilt the fuser system...

Re: Competitive Copier Vendors

SJM (Guest) ·
I looked this over and found many falsehoods in this document in selling against the "national vendors". Specifically, to say that we have no ties to the local community couldn't be further from the truth. Also, firmware updates are provided at no charge. Also, we do not charge shipping and handling for toner. Perhaps in the past, but since I've been with Konica Minolta, it is included. I'd like to add a more detailed rebuttal to some of these "sell points" that are most likely outdated.

I wasn't really considering the one-and-done deals. However, in this day and age where we have printers and document management as well, even the smaller companies may have additional revenue opportunities in them. But for the most part, I was referring to accounts that have future opportunity beyond just the replacement of the machine you sold 3 years ago.

I was in a small town last week at an six person Accountanting firm. They were using Cloud Computing for storage and document collaboration. They were concerned about the large amounts of paper documents that they had to store, retrieve and off site storage. They did not want to get a bigger office so they saw cloud computing as a way to get rid of filing cabinets. They liked the ability to be at a clients office and pull up their files at the customer's location. They liked the ability to...

Re: Google Cloud Print Opens Access to Printers Across the Globe

txeagle24 ·
The MFP is already connected to the internet. The Cloud Print client for the PC connected to the MFP identifies the printers that are connected to that PC. As long as that PC is online, running Chrome & you are logged in to your Google account, you can select the document you want to print from the Cloud Print app on your mobile device, select the settings (this is still in beta), and it will send the print job to the printer to which you choose to print. That PC is essentially acting as...

Re: scanning using auto color select

JasonR ·
I've seen that on Ricoh and Canon products. So I think it's a problem with Acrobat more than the MFP. The issue is that the file is tagged as a "color" document so the MFP prints it as a color document. We tell our customers that when you print, the only way to be sure to get charged for a B&W print is to select B&W in the driver.

I understand where you're coming from, I believe, you may be talking about the ability to actually delete up to 4 areas per document through the display. What I am speaking about regarding flexibility is to have 1 button on the home screen that does multiple steps like 3 hole punch, saddle stitch and pull covers with a custom watermark, with a picure of the user that requires these functions, or email destinations with the name of the recipieint and their custom file type as a 1 touch...

You can also add buttons for any of the OSA connectors you may need, for example a connection to your Document Managment System, Fax Server or Cost Accounting application. Re: Color Print Control

Thanks for the feedback. txeagle24, I'm a little confused by this statement: there would be no black and white documents that would accidently use color toner. This sounds like you're talking about process black (which normally clicks as black). What I'm talking about is if the printing is not defaulted to B&W when the customer prints mapquest or something with a hyperlink it prints and clicks color. This is regardless of whether they have a toner inclusive agreement or not. If the...

Re: Color Print Control

Hmm. Good point. I guess the question is more how do they click than what the process is. I can't believe after 10 years in the B2C market we're still debating these simple questions and it doesn't seem like anyone (self included) knows the true answer. I thought what happened was when a document contained some color in it the document used processed color to make black...this would allow the machine to run at full speed etc...but it would only click color for the pages containing color and...

Re: Color Print Control

No, absolutely none of them do this. There is no MFP/printer (at least from Ricoh/Canon/HP/Lexmark/Kyocera) that will print a (truly) black document and click it for color. Now, there are many many times that a document appears to be B&W to the human eye and contains color to the computer's eye. The most famous instance of this is Acrobat 4. Acrobat4?!?!? you say? No one uses Acrobat4! But that's not true. For compatibility's sake, many scanners with a direct to PDF option (even...

Guys, I have seen this happen on a MS Publisher document where they placed what appeared to be a grayscale image but it was saved in an RGB colorspace. And it DID click the color meter for that page. Just because something appears to be black doesn't mean it does not have color data. If the MFD sees color data it clicks the color meter no matter how it "looks" to the end user. Vince

A single user license costs $99.00 and there is a 30 day free trial. I am not sure why MFP dealers would be trying to promote printing less pages thereby reducing their click revenues while increasing the % Toner coverage on each printed page. I see value in the product and like how it reformats documents before you print them. You could definitely save on your paper costs.
