Re: GlobalScan Training

NateJ (Guest) ·
We have a 40-system install of Global Scan and the need for training is minimal for the Ricoh reps and the end-user. Global Scan has fewer options for customizing a scanned document compared to Scanrouter Lite or Pro. Also, the options for sending are found in one spot and not broken out into several tabs. Operating GS is easy, the issues I have are with the software itself. There are at least two glitches with the software or MFP firmware that Ricoh has yet to fix. Our customer has had the...

Keith: I may have a few old excel spreadsheets, I will have to look. However, I can explain here and you may be able to create your own spreadsheet. Commercial Press Shops (ones that have union employees) have a tremendous overhead cost when it comes to making a plate for the press. You have to find out what type of plates they are making, whether paper, metel, or poly. The Metal has the highest cost and the paper plate being the least expensive and then the poly in between. The cost for the...

The case was decided regarding a store that sold women’s clothing, that ran afoul of the clothing manufacturer’s rules. Unknown if any copier manufacturers will adopt this policy. - A group in Australia at Queensland University, is claiming that...

Correct. B2C means "Black to Color." This term was created about 5 years ago to designate the "next big thing" in the industry, which was the move from black & white output to color output in the office. Sort of along the lines of "A-to-D" for the Analog to Digital transition. I think the results of the last few years are proof that this revolution has happened (and is still happening). And to re-iterate what Eddie 2 Times said, Ricoh color MFPs can be used in a B2C environment...

If I may be so bold, I truly believe that the head honchos have no clue what's going on in the street, plus even if they did they have no way of stopping it. We use Printfleet, and it works well for us. The one issue I have with this press release is it saying it "detects" locally connected printers. What it doesn't mention is that that's all it can do, is "detect" those. It can't pull volume or errors or supply status. It's a good thing that it can find it, but it's pretty limited in what it can do once it finds them.

Amanda: Here's how the press will produce documents. A press will make a plate just like the duplicator. On a press and a duplicator we can make multiple pages of one image or sheet of information. Therefor we can set the press or the duplicator to run 1,000 pages of sheet #1. If we have a 10 page document we must run the job 10 times on the press or the duplicator. When we are done, we have ten stacks of one thousand pages each. One thousand of page one, one thousand of page two, etc, etc.

Art- Thanks for the help! That clarified this ordeal for me. I was under the assumption that the sorters were attached to the presses. But-if the press essentially performs the same as the duplicator (but with more downtime and extra cost!) the sorters should be offline. I know this is a slightly different matter, but, if the press is essentially performing the same way a duplicator does but with more downtime and a much higher purchase price, why would someone choose a press over a...

I don't know where you got the idea that presses had more down time. I personally don't think I would suggest that in a conversation with a printer. I also wouldn't suggest that your quality is better because it's not. A press also can run any color anytime without a $1,000 cylinder requirement for each color. They also have less registration issues than we do. Keep in mind that a press could be $30,000 or $300,000 or $1,000,000 plus so it kind of depends on what type of press you are being...
