Re: Sharp Becomes First MFP Provider Working With Alexa for Business to Enhance Technology in the Workplace

ok, it's got some sizzle, but where is the beef? Practically no one copies anymore, thus the only use I can see is for scanning. I have five Alexa's at home, great for playing music and asking questions. I guess I could ask Alexa "scan documents to Rob", and with out noticing Alexa sends those documents to "Bob". I just don't see the applications, can someone enlighten me, maybe someone who was at the recent Sharp event?

interesting, but no one copies documents that much anymore. The other stuff is pretty cool also. I do think that Alexa does have a place in the office as a research tool, rather than scrolling through pages of the internet. "Alexa, how many images per minute can the Ricoh MP C2504SPex scan at 300dpi?" Now that would be cool for competitive data collection.

I have read in several places that this new class of personal assistants such as Alexa are seen as potential security hazards. No IT manager would ever allow it. If you like to swear at or kick your copier, Alexa will likely not respond.

I thought that keynote speaker Chris Messina (technologist and inventor of the hashtag) was awesome! I guess I’m a technology geek at heart and his talk track about the past, the present and the future of user interface technology coupled with AI was enlightening. I posted a few of those talk tracks on Linkedin earlier and since I’m using my iPad tonight it won’t be as easy as I thought to capture and post them tonight. According to Chris user interfaces change almost every ten years and the...
