Re: Data Destruction

montecore ·
This is an interesting topic. I have always had an interest in computer forensics and spent many hours a lot of forums. I have used many different software programs to test their performance. I have recovered all sorts of data from hard drives and removable media. There are a bunch of programs out there that claim they can recover data some work and many do not. The only way to truly eliminate data is to pulverize the hard drive to dust. There are 2 ways that data can be recovered through...

You can get it from the Savin site. Your looking for the 2525/3030 (E-3000) PPD for the MacOS X (Ricoh calls it an E-5000 but it’s the same). No additional hardware is needed. I used it in a PC environment so I can’t tell you for sure it will work with a MAC but I don’t see why not. Postscript is Postscript. Good Luck.

Re: Kyocera Rumor!

Its kind of true. All Kyocera's own wide format have ceased production. The KM-3640w is a remodelled KIP 3000 and the only wide format available through Kyocera right now. And it seems the original KIP version wins this one....

The KMA 4850w was a fantastic product, well ahead of it's time. KMA's dismal support of their wide format product line lead to it's demise, but had they any sense they could've owned the market. Their enept marketing of this very customer focused solution caused it's demise as Ricoh, Kip and later XES (6204) capitalized on the time KMA gave them (about 2-3 years) to get a single footprint, 600 dpi wide format system to market. To add salt to the wound,KMA then got in bed with Kip to...

Art: A) I understand about the pump priming method, however it seems like this is assuming the customer was not going to print any color if we didn't give it away to begin with. That is a HUGE assumption. I don't completely get your math. It seems like you're saying a 1500 volume would yield a big profit. If you look at the table below, assuming that color costs 5 cents to make and the customer pays 9.5 cents for the overages, you only make $20 a unit in profit at 1500 per month. If you...

Re: Ricoh 240w print options ?

AD (Guest) ·
The print card that was originally with the unit has a serial number that any print, pdf, or scan oprions originally purchased are tied to (via the serial number). That card is worth $1500 - $3000. It's worth tracking down if possible. Otherwise, I think "wide format guy" or Ratio America (http://www.ratioamerica.com) might be able to help you with a print card and options.

Found this on the web, thanx to chops: Date: May/12/06 - 17:37 (GMT) Re: KIP and HP wide format service and Oce, Xerox, KIP comparison  The Xerox 6204 uses a Fuju Xerox controller which has no auto recognition of file types. This can cause the controller to lock up require operator intervention to clear the queue.  The 6204 cannot save print jobs for later recall and use.  The Xerox 6204 is listed as a mono component device; however it is not 100% toner efficient and requires a waste...

Yes, this topic could be debated for decades ... perhaps it has. But those of us who were copier before digital, were always fed the canned reasons for the quality differences between "PC" type and "Commercial Quality" boxes. Bigger is better? And therefore more expensive ... enter into the digital age ... HP already controlled the network (with Canon made laser engines), even they have gone cheap on the low-end thanks to the likes of brother who, while the first few models left a bit to be...

Re: Laser vs. Inkjet

The prospect is replacing an HP Professional series inkjet 1200c. This printer does 11 x 17, which is about 25% of their already small volume. If I had to guess I'd say under 2k/month, all color with mixed coverage, but probably an average of 15%. I borrowed some info I found on the net and found that so far the competition is working on laser products that do 11 x 17, putting them over $3000. This is the local chamber of commerce and I've told them I'd donate a Gelsprinter, or give them a...

At 5 bucks a month and no minimums that seems to be a good offer if you only want to monitor a few wide formats, right? But if you have a fleet of 500? That's $2,500 per month. I understand that not every client will want the monitoring. I'm out in the street every day, and probably the biggest complaint I get from clients is that they can't have more than one toner of each color on hand, I hear this from net new prospects also. This is a good fit for wide format market place, and I can see...

John and I found a few items today about ink. One cartridge size is 400ML @a cost of $148. Thus the cost per each ML is .37. The yield of the print head is 15 liters/12 months I think, I stated that because there is a raised 2 next to the 15 liters. Not sure, can anyone clarify?
