dmurrah ·
Art, It will do some but not on a regular basis. We had to replace a c4500 that was doing lots of thicker coated stocks with a Canon. I just sold a C811DN and I am certain the brochure on that product says "glossy". I also have the recomnended paper chart from Ricoh and will try to send tomorrow if I can find it.

A good rule of thumb is to run no more than about 25% of the machine's recommended monthly volume on "special" paper (e.g. heavy-weight or coated). N.B.-The paper recommendations in this file for the MP C3500/C4500 apply for the C811DN as well...

Re: C MP4500spf

Since you're getting folded output, I assume you have the correct finisher, but just for the record, the booklet finisher is the SR3020 for the MP C4500 SPF. If you choose 2 center staples in the driver and the output is on a single sheet, you will get folded, but unstapled documents. This is the only way to get folded without stapling. It should be impossible to get multiple pages to fold without stapling.

I've got the same problem with trying to print to a C4500 or a C410. The problem is likely their PS driver. Ricoh is aware of the problem (I demo'ed the problem to some regional sales types) and they should get back to me. If it isn't fixed we probably won't buy Ricoh. If I see a fix, I'll post it. no_dice

Re: What's New MPC 4000/5000

cmarkowski ·
This is not a tri-color PCU. There are still four drum units. The difference is that the color PCU can be used for all three of the colors (i.e. there is not a separate part number for a cyan drum, yellow drum, etc.) The same part number is used to replace any of CMY. This was a change that was implemented in mid-life on the MP C4500 Series as well. Hope this helps get some people off the ledge...

That's crazy. We have 6 reps and try to keep the following in stock: (2) MP161 SP's (2) 2020D's (3) 2510's (1) MP3500 (1) MP4500 (1) MP C2500 (1) MP C4500 And enough of the common accessories to configure each of these.

Re: Ricoh Rumor!! New Strategy?

Art Post (Guest) ·
I've got to get me some of these!! I will relable them myself and call them something like a Century Perfecto until someone else relabels. Can anyone supply me with a name of a rep to call for these? Think of the possibilities and the page counts that can be captured where accounts are producing 10K per month. You can meet their needs with an 11x17 printer (if needed) and then have the MFP for the rest of the document volume! Heck, what does a C4500 sell for with finishing and paper trays?

I believe I ran into a similar experience when printing to an MP C4504EX system, and the paper drawer was set to "Driver Command" instead of "Machine Settings" under "Printer Features", "System" "Tray Paper Settings" menu. WHen we set it back to "Machine Settings" the print job worked.

OK, you need to change the 6502 to "Driver Command". Press "User tools" Press "printer settings" Press "system" Press "Tray setting Priority" Select "by-pass" and then set to "driver command" That will do it

So, we are having this issue, as well, however I did this (even before I searched P4P thinking I would be the save the day-er) and it still does not work. We have tried different thicknesses, different directions, flap opened/closed, changing SP modes, and my guys are now into taking the fusing section apart for adjustment. Any other tips you may have run into on the C6502's with envelopes that can help us out? We are installing in a large account where I have multiple locations waiting for...

I believe there may have been ad adjustment that we made somewhere near the registration rollers, don't have a tech here to confirm. You could always take the 6502 out and replace with the 6003SP, they run envelopes even better

Re: If you make your living selling MPS

Great article from West! Those are some interesting stats. Regarding "Canon go Kaboom": Canon will always push hard for colour because they want to maintain their #1 spot in the marketplace. On the dealer side profitability is based on what the account needs. If a customer is doing 10 colour prints a month on an inkjet printer, dealers will sell a monochrome box. Corporate Canon on the other hand will push for a colour box, even though the colour volumes are not enough to make profit on the...

I saw the A4 device and a picture of the A3 device at the BTA South East event in Orlando last week. I believe A4 device had a US MSRP price of $2,400. It also included enough ink for 75,000 pages of combined black & color. Cool looking unit, however the bags of ink are huge and a little scary. Would hate to see one of those break in the office.

Re: RICOH MP 401SP vs SP4510SF Equals WTF!

txeagle24 ·
We have published CPP's for both of these models. The SP 4510sf is anywhere from $.03-$.035, & the MP 401spf is $.0155-$.017. Based on that gap, the break-even is about 41,000 images. On a 36 month lease, that's a little more than 1,100 images per month, whereas on a 60 month lease it's not quite 700 images per month. Personally, I like the strategy behind having the two models priced differently. The printer manufacturers (specifically HP & Lexmark) have been doing this for years,...

Re: RICOH MP 401SP vs SP4510SF Equals WTF!

The only way this works is when you are doing a fleet replacement against aging HP's. There are a zillion 42XX HP's and even though they are cheap to run on 3rd party cartridges customer are looking for something new. We are seeing closer to .01 on the MP 401 and SP 4520 which opens up lots of possibilities. Put 20 of them on a lease, replace the whole fleet with a single model and end up with a TCO of .013 or so. Getting to a single invoice, supplies and contact is icing on the cake.
