Re: Ricoh Dealership in Minnesota will buy.......
If this is the strategy I am sure they have run the numbers. However, I would think that the down the street business is more profitable on the service side than the major and national accounts. The large accounts represent high revenues, but usually very tight service margins when compared to down the street business. I wondeer if overall profitability would suffer if they move all the down the street business to the dealer channel?

Re: Konica Minolta Sales Up !
With other manufacturers, like IKON (I mean Ricoh), focused primarily on their Direct channel, Konica Minolta has become the organization with the friendliest and fastest growing Dealer channel. Now that XEROX has changed their business model, SHARP is on the brink of collapse, and Canon continues to suffer in the market, Konica Minolta may be in a very solid position going forward.

Born in '64, dittos on the stroll. Rode my bike everywhere until I could drive. Even rode it into parked car once and dented the fender. I owned up (because that's what we were supposed to do) and went to the door and told the man. My dad paid for the repair, and I had to work it off with dad. I was more afraid of what my parents would do to me than the police. Only had to worry about grades if I made lower than "B", 'cause that was failing in my parent's eyes. You might want to consider comparing them to Okidata's program. They are really going after BTA channel distribution and have some great programs making it easy i.e. no parts inventory, everything can be overnighted at their expense, 30-day free no-obligation trials for any prospect, Unique model numbers from retail distribution making it impossible to buy the BTA model off the internet, uniquely keyed supplies to make it difficult to buy supplies from anyone but you, no service training...

The case was decided regarding a store that sold women’s clothing, that ran afoul of the clothing manufacturer’s rules. Re: Big Tom Out as Prez at Ricoh
Just the beginning...? It has now been a little over six months since the merger of Lanier and Ricoh into Ricoh Americas Corporation. During that time, there have been many changes in our organization and we have all experienced some of the good and some of the bad that change brings. The merger of two organizations having different cultures, systems and business methods is a difficult undertaking and what we have seen since April 1 certainly confirms that fact. I am aware of how hard all of...

Re: Danka Business Systems PLC Signs Agreement With Konica Minolta to Sell U.S. Business
This was posted last night by another Canon P4P member. Now that Xerox has purchased Global, and KM has purchased Danka...........well that makes a total of 2 large distribution channels that will no longer be Canon re-sellers. The Global deal stung a little, but this is really going to hurt. Maybe Ikon is in Canon's sights? For Canon's sake, I would sure hope so because if I were Ricoh, I know I would be planning my next move. Ricoh dodged a bullet on this one (Danka). If Ricoh were to go...

Re: Email from Canon P4P'er "Ricoh Direct Pricing"
At this point I do not believe a word that anybody at Ricoh has to say. If any changes are made I would be hard-pressed they would stick to any of them. Personally, Ricoh Corporate is full of hot-air. They should be thankful there is the dealer channel as we pay attention to the bottom line and our clients.

RUMOR has it that Ricoh will change the name of the company to IKON Americas Corporation, effective August 1, 2009. RBS will fold into IKON, with several offices closing across the country. This new IKON direct organization will be the only distribution channel selling 'Ricoh' brand products, while the remaining "strong" Independent Dealers can sell Lanier and Savin (for a limited time) at an approximate 20% higher price than IKON will enjoy. RFG Dual Line Dealers will be requested to drop...

Re: New AC104
That is the one I caused a little confusion about mentioning it in the "1515" discussion. The AC104 is the FX-16 in Europe. I didn't think Ricoh would send this one to the U.S. ... or else I figured it would go through the "Bizworks" channel. You can get this under the Samsung name for under $400 from places such as buy.com, Bust Buy, PC Nation, etc.

Re: Features you would like to see on future products
An ldap scan to email search that doesn't require 5 button pushes (Xerox can in 2). Color scan on everything. Web access from MFP panel. More sophisticated scanning setup (create scan profiles in one application and then push to one or multiple devices simutaneously, Xerox does this). PostScript emulation at a fraction of the cost of the real postscript option (as most of our competitors have). Scan2print. Oh yes, and most important for Ricoh to stop trying to acquire it's already acquired...

Re: Who Will Be #1 in Market Share for 2009?
GMAN: Ricoh does HAVE THE LARGEST distribution channel! Even tough dealers are upset, its the same with KonicaMinolta Dealers selling against KonicaMinolta Direct, Sharp Dealers and Sharp Direct, Canon Dealers and Canon Business Solutions. The problem is not inherent to Ricoh alone. Direct Branches are giving stuff away and no dealer can compete when service, supplies and hardware are retailed at the price that a dealer would pay or lower.

Re: Whole Lotta Shakin Goin On
Chuck, with the current "troubled times" (words from Frank Cannata on the latest Live Wire / Cannata Report) at Ricoh, it now makes sense that either Savin or Lanier, or both brands, get elimintated. Just as GM sells Hummer and gives Saturn to the Penske group. It is a shame that on the 50th Anniversary of Savin, started in 1959, it's existence may disappear. I thin it will be Lanier for Dealers and Ricoh for IKON and RBS. The other option is Ricoh only, all the way, for both Dealers and the...

Re: Assume My Copier Lease....What?
@Kitz: Dealer support is also a great question. Currently we approach this on a case-by-case basis. New transfers would go to an affiliated partner in the geographical territory that is qualified to service that equipment. Ultimately, we are building a network of independent dealers not unlike what the direct channel already has access to. This way, independent dealers can leverage the network for new contracts as well, such as when a sale is made to a head office that includes installations...

Re: e-STUDIO 306LP Question
While the e306LP is an innovative product it is unlikely to displace any colour unit sales. As colour is more than half of what I sell, this leaves this product with a declining mono colour market to appeal to. The RD30 recycle unit makes the price of the solution much more than an equivalent eStudio 306. The e306LP does not have a stapling option. I find that most customers are interested in the ideas of ecology with their copiers but they are not willing to pay a premium for it.

Make a call to the Manufacturer of the desired product lines, ask for the dealer channel representative for your area or the area you are looking to market in. They will know right away of they need more exposure in your area. It just like sales you will have to pursue them as much as you pursue a sale. Id they are not calling you back, it could be they are not looking for exposure in your area and are too lazy or do not want to tell you that. Art Art Hope this helps

I have seen an early version of this unit at the Samsung Canada head office and it does look reasonable. The DF is not going to be as heavy duty as the copier based products, but for many offices this is not an issue unless they do a lot of scanning. The user interface reminds me of the touch screen on the Lexmark MFP printer based products and is extremely simple looking. This will appeal to a lot of purchasing type buyers. Re: Can a Digital Copier Scan to Dropbox?
Great Post Art. Xerox have a DropBox app available for their new ConnectKey devices but the user has to buy a scanpack which cover X number of scans and has a 12 month shelf-life. The advantages of having it on the MFD as an App is that any user (e.g. at a college) can log in to their DropBox account and print or scan to / from their own account securely. We've been doing the same as you and circumventing the charge or need for an app by pointing the scan to a DropBox folder on a desktop.
