Re: Whole Lotta Shakin Goin On

GMAN ·
Chuck, with the current "troubled times" (words from Frank Cannata on the latest Live Wire / Cannata Report) at Ricoh, it now makes sense that either Savin or Lanier, or both brands, get elimintated. Just as GM sells Hummer and gives Saturn to the Penske group. It is a shame that on the 50th Anniversary of Savin, started in 1959, it's existence may disappear. I thin it will be Lanier for Dealers and Ricoh for IKON and RBS. The other option is Ricoh only, all the way, for both Dealers and the...

Old Glory does indeed make a valid point, in that Ricoh Dealers will need the p4p hotel (RFG Message Board) to share ideas on how to survive as a Ricoh Dealer with their new focus on IKON and future support of IKON. It is going to be a battle out there during the next year and a forum to report on RFG / IKON practices, competitive situations, shake-ups, and new product offerings will be critical.

Jim - I only get this report when I scream loud enough to our corporate office about backorders (like I've been screaming about the 240W). I will make available every time I see one. I think...our purchasing agent gets this info from our East Region Allocations people at Ricoh - I would think they would provide this info to anybody on an allocations list for backorders?

Dave: We thought of something quite similar at one of our weekly meetings. The thought to establish a base price for cpc was a great idea. Here are our sticking points. A. All new sales for systems would have to be under a monthly cpc plan. This means no more year plans for new customers. As older yearly MA's become available do they change over to monthly cpc's or do they now remain a "house account"? If they do convert to a monthly cpc, how can you justify an increase? B. A few times the Plotbase server just hung, we have 512MB. Ricoh's mid volume machines are the weak point for Ricoh. I work on Konica minolta and those are no picnic either. We use the BEI services compensation plan for our bonuses. The worst copier according to the BEI report is our 5645 Lanier model (Ricoh equivalent???). The only mid volume products that produce good revenue and reliability are the Bizhub c350/450 models.

Our dealership has had 15 ship-ins in the last two months, and as our ship-in coordinator as a courtesy I always call the ordering dealer (introduce ourselves, touch base, provide contact info, that kind of thing). Every single one of those dealers report problems using the DMAP system. My most recent ship-in, from a dealership in Florida, reported that he entered the order in June but Oracle didn't process the order until September. Hi Art, Unfortunately, this is a known limitation of Print Audit 5. Plot Client WIN (and other similar plot-submission tools) bypass the Windows print drivers when they generate multiple copies the file you are plotting. As a result, Print Audit 5 can only detect the first copy being generated, and will only report that one page was printed. While there is currently no way to have Print Audit automatically track the number of plots being generated, there are a couple of workarounds that you...

All you have to do is look at the competitive analysis (See Attached) between the Ricoh C4503 and C6502 against the competitors from Canon, Xerox, and KM to see how much of a difference True Adobe PostScript makes in the printing speed. Emulation machines are noticeably slower, to the point that you could argue that a lesser Ricoh needs to be proposed in order to compare accurately.

I agree Rick Taylor has done a superb job at KM but I think he does win it every year. Rightfully so in my opinion, but I also believe Cannata uses the same dealers every year. Since I met them a couple years ago and we use 4 or 5 partners on the lists now we have been included in the voting for the last 2 years.

Hi, Within the settings in the Japan GUI website, you can set the individual Cumin or Basil device with a meter reading date which you will use for meter billing. This can be seen in the 'Device Information' section and the filed named 'M/R Date'. This will determine what leasing company may be able to help you out with your deal. Dean, I think I can help. I just checked the Print Audit MPS Readiness rating for the models that you asked about and found the following; Our Facilities Manager does track toner percentage levels on the MP 301. That device reports toner in 25% increments down to a level of 10%. After 10% it reverts to an enumerated value (ie. low, empty, etc.). As a result, it rates as a 3 out of 5 on our MPS Readiness rating. The MP 6002 SP does not report toner levels in a percentage format, at all. It...

Txeagle24, The MPS ready report is not just manufacturer based it is Model based, each manufacturer has devices that report very well and very poorly. Like every other manufacturer Ricoh has JSwinberlin, Like any SNMP device monitoring system, we are dependent on the level of detail the device manufacturer puts into the MIB structure. Some printers are very robust where they report toner Levels from 100% to 0% in 1% increments. while other only show a defined status of O.K. / Low/ Empty.
