John, The PrintCopy Tool compares pretty favorably to Plotworks. I attached two documents to this post. The Product Support Guide lists differences between the two products. The PowerPoint has screen shots of all the settings in PrintCopy Tool. I hope this helps.

So some clarification first. PaperCut absolutely does support Mac. In fact, it is the only cost recovery/print control solution that I know of that actually installs in an all Mac environment. (Server and Client) It also is the only solution I know of that installs in a Linux environment. So both of your issues are solved with PaperCut. I included the install guides for Mac and Linux to get you started.

The above software does not work properly after inital install unless you Stop/ Start the Print Spooler found under Services in Control Panel/Admin Tools. Except for Job Accounts none seem to work well with Dept Codes turned on.

Some great points in this thread. In the end all of the main copier products do the same thing...they put toner on the paper, fuse it and offer a collection of ancillary tools which in many cases are more important (like scanning) than the copy function anymore. Someone said earlier it was the whole package that the client wants to buy...they get impacted from everyone in your dealership, admin, billing, shipping, support, sales and yeh your suppliers too. Yippee. Another worthless desktop MFP from Ricoh. While Lexmark is cranking out 40ppm desktops w/ full color touch screens, Ricoh "upgrades" to a 20ppm machine that is half as productive & has the same old button-driven control panel.

I see it also has "mail to print" I'm guessing that is the same as "Hotspot Printing" But it says in the brochure that no 3rd party app is required. So does that exclude "Printer-ON' which handles the HotSpot subscription? I couldn't find any documentation on install or setup in the op manual or service manual. Anybody got any info on this?

Sharp MFP's have been able to do that for years as well, 3 customized buttons on the main screen, the new UI will allow you to put up to 18 customized buttons on each page, with up to 15 pages available on the Home Screen, this can be done from the panel. I never did too much with the MP2000 or MP2500. I like the touch panel on the 2551 and up models much better. especially when scanning. The MP2500 was a good system to bid if customer required a finisher at 25ppm and you need to keep the price down.

We played with one at Ricoh's Monster Mayhem, and it was a piece of junk. There were too many nested menus to go through in the control panel, it was very slow at processing print jobs and felt extremely cheap.

fisher....thanks for sharing your picture. First impression when I saw this was the way over-sized LCD control panel which is disproportionate from the top of the unit. Another thing was the small not so robust doc feed and how tall that unit is. How much does the doc feed hold? What size in the platen glass? Does the pages come out back to front or right to left? The only tray available is the TK1100 with casters which sits on the floor if you don't mind stooping over to reach the control panel. Looking into third party suppliers now.

Thanks for the update. Who said they were compatible with MIFARE cards? Magnetic strip cards is what I figured the hotel was using. Those work by a different mechanism. As Vince mentioned you can look at UniFlow but that might be a pricey option. You can also add a credit card/bill/coin-op solution for the business center. This is an easy way for walk up traffic. I had gotten the name of the type of card from the GM and I called the card manufacturer and the Technican I spoke with said the cards were MIFARE. My understanding of the cloud solution would allow guests to login to their google docs or sharepoint account for direct prints. What other options are available? The hotel's mainframe is on a program called OPERA. I like the credit/card/bill/coin-op solution, I hadn't thought about that. Additional food for thought.... Are there any card readers...

I just did some research on vendapin card readers, it's an RFID card, used much like a debit card. The card reader can be inserted in the coin op unit or can work as a stand alone.

Microsoft fired the guy who headed up Windows 8 because he wouldn't bend on making the desktop version more compatible with standard Windows users. Yes cool for tablets, but for keyboard and mouse, more problems. They hid Control Panel and I still have no idea where the dos prompt is yet. Microsoft screwed up bigtime on this. No business is going to jump to Win8......they are slowing moving to Win7 and Office 2010. Many are still on XP.

The Erasure unit has essentially a dual head scanner built into the top of it. A user may press some buttons on the control panel of the eraser unit to simply erase the page's contents or scan the page's contents to a network location before the information is erased from the page. This is not a security feature, it is more of a convenience feature.

We have a 40-system install of Global Scan and the need for training is minimal for the Ricoh reps and the end-user. Global Scan has fewer options for customizing a scanned document compared to Scanrouter Lite or Pro. Also, the options for sending are found in one spot and not broken out into several tabs. I do not have any in the field that are connected to the 1105 or 1085. However I have three in the field that are the "stand alone systems" and they work great! Also I had the opportunity to see the SR90 today at Ricoh Corp in NJ. It looks great and works great. All saddle stitching can be selected from the op screen. Signature, Directory and Legal folder worked good for the few booklets that I made. Rumor has it that the puncher will be available soon!

Check out this point of view... ISSUE: The first page of a multiple page fax is the only page that prints when the fax uses the same phone line as voice mail. Faxes are redirected to the voice mail recorder before being completely sent to an HP LaserJet 3150 series product. I may be missing something but Scan Router Lite does not support scan to email so I don’t know how you could program email destinations. Scanrouter pro does allow you to make “quick dial keys” to email addresses All the systems that have embedded scan to email can have “email quick dial keys” set-up via the control panel or the web monitor. The 2022/27 is currently the only model that allows you to do both scan to folder and scan to email destination at the same time.

Rick: I posted a few items in reference to the GBS Stream Punch. I do not believe that Ricoh and GBC designed a new "punch mechanisium" for the stream puncher. I believe they took an existing product and manufactured a "skin" for it that would enable it to work with our 2105 and th 2090. I believe the GBC hardware is the magnapunch. Try - Control Panel - Admin Tools - Services - SNMP Service Do a manual stop, then start. If all seems OK with the SNMP service, then it's typically something else blocking it between the client and server PC. I.e; anti-virus, other network service or rule that blocks port 161

KIP request is used for scanning. You scan from the KIP and send to internal mailbox (you can't name the file), from there you must go to your pc and then look for the file in the KIP requestion folder that (I think) resides on the KIP. If alot of scanning has been done you must then sort through files and find yours. Specs for the bizhub are impressive! Here's how I would handle this. 1. I always bundle e-copy "desktop" software with every system. I make sure I show the customer the advantages of the copy desktop software before I speak about speeds and feeds. This software could make the difference in landing the sale or not!! 2. Re point 4 - careful on that one. Konica has made significant improvements to their print driver interfaces as well as to their walk-up interface. Over the years that I've been on this board, I often would sing the RPCS driver's praises as a competitive advantage. I can't do that any more. The only thing I don't like is that Konica limits the number of characters you can use to rename the file at the walk-up panel, but other than that I have no quibbles with their usability any more.

I had three in field, one was upgraded after six months, the customer could not understand the control panel. Other two are doing great and there has been no complaints, both are in LV customers doing about 2,000 pages per month, however they both needed 11x17 and color. Right machine for the right cost. Hope this helps!

We had the Samsung and then moved to Muractec, support is fantastic from Muratec. We also registered with Sammy for a service center for there systems. Wehave been getting service calls on small printers, however its a new account and a contact that we did not have before! We have about 12 of the 45ppm devices in the field, all are working well and we are averaging one call for 30,000 pages! Most are user op since they are printer based MFP.
