Re: 57 Days of Selling "Day 44"

Jason H ·
Love it Art! I had a day of running around with a networking luncheon followed by a training for a new device that I sold earlier in the month and stole from Sharp. I was extremely late to the party with this deal but they already had a canon that was very old and decided they wanted another canon and on top of that wanted someone to deal with local over Sharp and Ricoh direct. Then I was walking into the grocery store on the way home and got a call from a person I quoted a machine to about...

We all know the duty cycles are bull. If one manufacture say they have a duty cycle is 100,000 on a 20 cpm machine, all the others have to follow suit. These numbers have been off since I been in this business. i.e. 28 years.

Re: New Samsung 11 x 17" Colour MFPs due Oct 01 USA

txeagle24 ·
Until A4 starts to really take over in the U.S., my guess is that the manufacturers will produce higher CPP A4 devices so they do not negatively impact the number of more expensive A3 devices that are placed into higher volume environments. Once one manufacturer lowers the CPP for A4 devices, everyone else will follow suit.

An office-company filed a lawsuit against Ohio State, saying the university wrongly awarded a potential $24 million printer and copier contract to a competitor. Modern Office Methods filed the lawsuit on Sept. 26 in the Court of Claims, requesting that OSU set aside its recently awarded contract with ComDoc, Inc. and rebid it. According to the documents, Modern Office Methods said a ComDoc employee met with an OSU employee, unknowingly to the other top-two competitors, Modern Office Methods...

Independent Dealers will never compete successfully with any Direct _BS branch on price. The _BS Branch has shown that they are willing to run their branches at a loss for years! We must sell at a profit, IMHO they should (Legally) have to also sell at a profit (Don't get me started on dumping). If you work for an independent dealer and you are trying to compete with a _BS Branch (that sells your product) on price then you are playing into their hands, and you are going broke. They can...

WEEKEND MFP INDUSTRY NOTES 8-5-07 The following is a quick review of copier/MFP industry news from industry publications. - The U.S. Supreme Court ruled that it is legal for manufacturers to create a mandatory minimum selling price for their product. The case was decided regarding a store that sold women’s clothing, that ran afoul of the clothing manufacturer’s rules. Unknown if any copier manufacturers will adopt this policy. - A group in Australia at Queensland University, is claiming that...

Re: RBS Continues to Dump Machines & Make Dealers Look Bad!

Professor X (Guest) ·
If you have a signed contract and RBS quotes a lower price, you have grounds for a law suit. It's considered unfair business practices and tortuos interference. Your dealerships laywer should send a letter to Ricoh's legal council seeking compensation. The last thing they want is a lawsuit.

Re: Supply Price Increase

This price increase for Ricoh does not discriminate as it is hitting all dealer's, VAR's and direct RBS Branch's. I'm guessing that Xerox, Canon, and KMBS will all follow suit.

Re: Dressed for Progress

It is the man (or woman) that "makes the suit." I know those custom fabrics and tailoring make the attention to detail and appearance seem professional, but the substance behind the outfit is even more critical when our customers rely on "trusted advisors."

I rarely ever even wear a tie anymore. Let the competition show up in a suit. Dress to suit the appointment. Perhaps it would be different in NYC but for up and down the street business a nice shirt and neatly pressed Khakies is all that's needed these days for 90% of your appointments.

Re: Dressed for Progress

Very true. As Fisher said, of course you will don the suit when the appointment warrants it, but It's silly to be sitting in a room with 10 people wearing business casual while you have on a suit and tie.

As I was writing the piece I thought to myself, why would they have a three tier approach to pricing if they didn't have the data to back it up? Glad you will be launching that and I'd like to see it work. Will a customer have to upload a document in order to find out the pixel and or page coverage? Since they have the Fiery, once the job is printed it can be archived on the Fiery, all print settings will stay with that job. Make sure they have command work station installed on their PC and log into the fiery controller, right click on the print job and archive it.

While the e306LP is an innovative product it is unlikely to displace any colour unit sales. As colour is more than half of what I sell, this leaves this product with a declining mono colour market to appeal to. The RD30 recycle unit makes the price of the solution much more than an equivalent eStudio 306. The e306LP does not have a stapling option. I find that most customers are interested in the ideas of ecology with their copiers but they are not willing to pay a premium for it.
