Re: All Ricoh A4 devices = no stapler

Art Post ·
The 501/601 are based on a Kyocera MFP without a stapler, so Ricoh didn't have much of a choice on that one. Agreed that its a disadvantage against other A4s, so with Ricoh you will either have to sell the C401 with a finisher or an A3 MFP for the foreseeable future.

Love it Art! I had a day of running around with a networking luncheon followed by a training for a new device that I sold earlier in the month and stole from Sharp. I was extremely late to the party with this deal but they already had a canon that was very old and decided they wanted another canon and on top of that wanted someone to deal with local over Sharp and Ricoh direct. Then I was walking into the grocery store on the way home and got a call from a person I quoted a machine to about...

5 hours today spend on finding these trays. Yes, I finally found them. Seems Ricoh USA was the only one to discontinue these trays. After searching the internet again I then resorted to calling a contact in the Netherlands and South Africa. These out put trays are available through Ricoh Europe, thus if you need one please PM or email me and I can get you the contact person. Art

Ricoh makes the SP C842DN and it's a beast. Works day in day out with little service intervention. Here's the link https://www.ricoh-usa.com/en/p...r-printer/_/R-408106 Sharp or Brother does not offer a stand alone 11x17 printer?

It has to be laser and heavy duty like that Ricoh you’re talking about. Brother has inkjet and Sharp has small stuff. They are expanding the department so volumes will go up. So it has to be heavy duty

Very strange. I interact with the CRG on a regular basis and have had no indication of reduced staff, etc. I can’t comment on your issue with parts as we do not rely on xerox to send our parts, we stock and replenish out of our own warehouse. No substantial difference between xerox parts on b/o than Canon or HP. Not nearly as bad as Ricoh. We dropped the ricoh product years ago as we couldn’t handle the constant toner b/o issues. Parts I can somewhat understand, but toner? Hope that your...

Re: Target GP Margins

Czech ·
I know everyone is just ball-parking it here but these questions are really hard to get dependable answers for. Most sales reps do not know what the dealership markup is prior to establishing sales cost so a 20% markup might actually be 40% from cost. The other is the compensation package. If there is compensation based on clicks or a click incentive, GP becomes less important. My payplan changed this year from being GP based to being revenue based. Consequently, I just sold a 22 unit deal...

Jason: Take a look at the RBS quote that posted yesterday! It states, their "best" price the first time. In essence they are teaching their people to be just "order takers". Even the Ricoh web site is no listing MSRP with lines drawn through the MSRP to indicate they are discounting. I have no problem with discounting, however there is no reason to put the MSRP on the site and then draw a line through it, the only reason that is done is to initiate a call to their in-line order taking ...

Honestly, it was when I walked in the door for my first interview. I remember the individual interviewing me mentioning that they sold Ricoh equipment, & the only frame of reference I had is that Ricoh sponsored the "Call to the Bullpen" on MLB games at the time. Re: Toshiba now has tier based CPC's?

Art Post ·
I pretty much never see anyone proposing Toshiba color equipment, so I haven't seen this. There are a few Kyocera dealers I've seen proposing their tiered color billing capabilities. What shocks me is that no Ricoh dealers have started marketing this. The Cxx02 series & Cxx03 series have the ability to report multiple tiers of color coverage for billing purposes, but in a market with 7 dealers + RBS selling RFG products I have yet to see a single dealer pushing it.

Re: Toshiba now has tier based CPC's?

Art Post ·
Ricoh hasn't even made us aware that those systems can do that.... I don't ever hear of anyone talking about the tiered rate. I wonder if, for once, everyone is on the same page and wants to keep it at a full page of color cost regardless. I hope it stays that way.

Re: Toshiba now has tier based CPC's?

Our Ricoh SSS told us about it. I'd love to be the first one to push it & make everyone else react. Plus, it would improve profitability if we could charge a higher rate for higher page coverage.

Jason, Talk to KIP again I have never heard of KIP asking dealers to stock machines(maybe one for the demo floor). Plus KIP is releasing the new 800 series next month and these machines look like they should be good sellers. 8 full color "D"s per minute and 10K less that the Oce colorwave. We sell or have sold all the major lines of wide format, KIP, Oce, Ricoh, even going back to Xerox. All our sales reps and techs prefer the KIPs. GR

The Epson thing is a joke. You can buy it on-line for less than you can buy it from Ricoh and so can your customer. I've got a customer right now who is at end of term on a 48 month lease on a LW426 and I have no choice but to go back to them with the exact same machine......oh and my cost is now higher for that same machine thanks to Plotworks (which gets thrown in the garbage). Wide Format is in a big transition right now, I know KIP is no longer going to be putting any R&D into monochrome printing anymore. Its all color from this point forward, I know Oce (or CSA) is thinking the same way. I can't speak for Ricoh but at this point why would you put any money into it. The Epson argument has been going on for years. I brought one product in as a complement product and direct print production sales fought for Epson devices as part of the portfolio. I wouldn't allow it. However, with Vellek in charge of all product marketing, a lot changed. Overall profitability on Epson to Ricoh is about 7-9%. I have not sold a W3601 yet this year and believe I only sold a handful last year, I used to sell at least a dozen a year. The W3602 will have the GUI as the color systems and many of the same features, sad but the GUI and the MFP features will still put us way behind with the likes of KIP & Oce

Art, the big thing is for Nuance/Copitrak do this you need external tablets, and people are pretty sick of ecopy. We embed right in the MFP for Ricoh, Konica, Canon and Xerox so even if there's too many months left in the current lease we can embed the software in the current equipment and then just move the license to your MFPS when it's time to change hardware. I just did that with a POA rep in Denver, the customer had Canons and when they're ready switch we'll move it for a very small...
