Four Sales Tips to Help you Close More Copier Opportunities

Art Post ·
Recently, closed quite a few orders in the last couple of weeks. Almost all of those opportunities had some stiff competition from other vendors. Thus, I'd like to share some of my secrets that I've used to help win the deal. But first I'd like to share some thoughts about buyers. There's two types of buyers in my book. One is the value buyer and the other is the price buyer. If you've been on Linkedin long enough you'll read sales guru's spinning the yarns of selling to value. The truth is...

Re: bizhub C224e scanning question

Bumble001 ·
The C224e does not come standard with a DF. You can add an optional DF-624 which is a RADF which scans at 80 ppm. Or you can get the optional DF-701 which is a single pass dual scan feeder which has the ability to scan 160 images per minute. So the answer to your question is it will scan as fast as you can put originals on the glass without the DF-701.

Speeds and Feeds of Copiers

Art Post ·
I had a lot of wind shield time today and it got me thinking about the recent thread that Kyocera was moving with speed licensing for some of their MFP models. I've always been a huge proponent of reducing the amount of MFP models that we offer to our clients. I believe there is no need to have 5 color and 5 black A3 models for clients and or sales people to choose from. We as an industry need to simply MFP offerings to dealers and clients alike. I would like to see one A3 model to replace...

Thanks for sharing your thoughts Art. Super interesting stuff. I expect that we'll see Kyocera expand this option across a wider portion of its portfolio for these very reasons and more OEMs will explore this concept as well! Lisa

ty for the information on these. Just a note about printing slower, all MFP's can print slower if you activate the thick paper mode. I understand that no one would want general printing to be slower. However the slower printing speeds might be a difference maker because no one else speaks about it. Benefit to the end user is better color quality on thicker stock. Please keep us informed when the new models arrive! Thank you!

Re: Speeds and Feeds of Copiers

Kyocera Guy ·
Currently the new model with speed licensing is the Taskalfa 2554ci 25ppm color that with an additional license can be bumped to a 3554ci with no additional hardware. We expect to see (not confirmed) a 45/55/65 as well some time in the future. Like you mentioned this cuts inventory costs and keeps things simple. Once a machine is registered at a certain speed you can't go back. So you can't upgrade a 25ppm to a 35 if a customer changes their mind down the road. Let me know if you have any...

Speed Licenses

From Copytechnet.com "Hello, I'm setting up an HP E87740DN for another dealer. Reading through the installation instructions it refers to a speed license for this series. Does the HP E87740DN require a speed license or is it the default speed model?" "40 ppm will be the default speed. This series can be made to run at 40, 50, 60 OR 70 ppm all from the same fuser.

Re: Speed Licenses

Some customers want faster copiers just for the speed and not so much for the print volume. Some customers want faster copiers to handle higher volumes quicker. I am not sure one fuser for four speeds is the way to go at high print volumes.

Re: Speed Licenses

Kevin Foley ·
From what our service team's told me, the Kyocera speed licenses can't be in-field upgrades. The speed license is required during setup/initialization. Part of this is because the 60-70ppm color models use different toner cartridges from the 40-50ppm, and the 35ppm color model uses different toner from the 25ppm. So Kyocera's speed license appears to be strictly inventory based for manufacturer/dealer rather than an upsell to the customer.

Re: Speed Licenses

SalesServiceGuy ·
... it is not hard to image Kyocera or HP giving away free or deep discounted speed licenses when needed to close a big sale or offer as a promotion. Overall, I think speed licenses are the future of copiers as it helps to simplify inventory especially in a post COVID world with rising hardware costs, scarce chip sets and tenuous supply chains that all can be unpredictable. Speed licenses are not a new concept so one has to wonder why the other OEM's have not rushed to incorporate this...

High Speed A4 Color MFPs with Finishing Options

Is there a market for A4 High Speed Color MFPs with finishing options like the VersaLInk C600/C605? Is a simple inner finisher stapler the only option needed? or is the Xerox finisher with stacking and stapling getting more traction as the A4 market share grows? Any thoughts in the A4/Finishing arena welcomed.

I had to look at the request twice, at first I thought you were asking about black A4, however there are many A4 black models that offer the 60ppm speed. I'm on the fence with a color offering for A4. Never pushed it because I didn't have it in A4, never had a client ask me for that speed in color when they were not producing 11x17 or 12x18 or producing full color booklets. I believe that all A4 devices need more robust finishing options, in fact I'll go as far as A4s need to have all of the...
