I would not be surprised if your p4p hotel helped influence this new Toshiba EXCHANGE 'social' website. I believe that the p4p mission should be to provide the same platform within the Office Equipment Industry, yet be a forum for all people regardless of manufacturer (Toshiba, Ricoh, Canon, Konica Minolta, SHARP) affiliation.

Old Glory does indeed make a valid point, in that Ricoh Dealers will need the p4p hotel (RFG Message Board) to share ideas on how to survive as a Ricoh Dealer with their new focus on IKON and future support of IKON. It is going to be a battle out there during the next year and a forum to report on RFG / IKON practices, competitive situations, shake-ups, and new product offerings will be critical.

I'm not sure if that has an equivalent in the UK. here we have the Consumer Credit Act. However, it only applies to consumers. Business to business isn't covered (except in a small number of cases). "I've almost never seen a disputed copier lease where the lessee wins. I'll admit I'm no expert in leasing however most of these agreements are rock solid." In my experience the reason why they're perceived as rock solid is because they are rarely challenged. If they're not challenged they'll...

Hey p4p hotel. I just wanted to thank you for your website. I had a deal signed on the 240W and was waiting for the equipment to arrive (some of which was on backorder). In the interval Xerox sent my customer a postcard on the 8830. They were $6000.00 cheaper on the equipment and the customer canceled our order. After reading the information on your site I went back to him with a TCO comparison and got the deal back. Your maintenance figures on the 8830 were right on the money. He was also...

I was able to download a brochure on the CM8050/8060 from HP's site in Singapore. Truly, State of the Art Technology from HP......when it comes to ink technology! I remember it well and at ComDoc, in the early 80's we sometimes put the offer out there without it being a formal price plan. I think the customer realized that a lot of the toner they purchased and stocked was useless at end of the machines life. It was like a primer with a customer who had that and TCO on their mind, it was a way to close them. Equally, I remember taking it one step further in the early 90's with copy management - the first all inclusive (hardware, service, supplies)...

Art, I loved this column, especially the lead- in history of your start as a technician. That was me in 1978-79. I worked for a Canon subsidiary in Union NJ as a tech. Just moved here from Ohio. Hi Bob: Welcome to the Print4Pay Hotel! What market are you in? Door to Door is always tough, all I try to do on the cold call is get the name of the buyer (DM) and leave a business card. I can then follow up with a phone call. You probably should have some type of flyer explaining the value of your company. You bring instant credibility to table by being a service engineer. Use that to your advantage. I have more but would like to see what others have to say also.

Art, I would not ask that question. They may not be in the deal and you do not need another competitor. I might ask however how important relationships are. That will tell you a lot about him. I also try to see who they do business with to try and connect with someone who I know that might know a c-level person inside your prospect. Just thoughts. PJS Maybe try to just sell them a color laser printer? I know that ink based systems will do the trick, but not sure if Kyo has any of those. I recently sold a Ricoh 11x17 laser printer to an account for the same process. However, I had to make sure the printer I sold them printed at 1200 dpi. You may also want to change the vellum. Make sure you are using vellum for a laser printer and not ink based. I would check with Azon and tell em the P4P Hotel sent you.
