Who would have thought that on Palm Sunday here is the east that there's still some snow on the ground! I think we'll be lucky if we have tulips and hyacinths flowering by Easter. There's an excellent string of threads below for "How many prospects are in your territory". Enjoy the threads from Ten Years Ago this Week! Selling Copiers in the Seventies with Carl Little

I've never had the chance to meet Carl Little in person, however Carl has been a long time member of the Print4Pay Hotel. Over the years I've been able to glean valuable knowledge from Carl with his posts on our forums. At the end of the blog we'll have the LinkedIn profile for Carl if you'd like to reach out to him. You could also post a response here if you like. How did you find your way to the copier industry? After graduating college in 1974 from a small college in Kansas & playing...

Special than to fisher (p4p'er) for this. The purchase price is unreal, however I looked at the lease price and noted the price of $112.27 for 60 month. Quick leasing math tells me that the lease rate for 60 months is .0206. The .0206 is a very high rate. I believe that zero point rates are about .0190 (someone please correct me if I'm wrong). Using the .0190 and backing in the lease amount. Monthly lease rate divided by .0190 = amount funded The true lease amount is $5,909.47, which adds a...

Ten years ago this week, we saw the launch of the W2400 & 3600 from Ricoh, still can't get over how quickly time flies by. "I'm Listening are You?", was a thread I posted ten years ago. I re read the entire thread and the first thing that came to my mind is that I need to concentrate on letting the client do most of the talking. There's a thread below about "tray tolerance" and one of the items in that thread mention Plot Client. Which reminded me about the install of a recent MP W6700, and my only client that was using Plot Tools for a W3601SP. When pricing the device I forgot all about their needs for "batch" plotting and did not figure in the cost for the Ricoh "Print, Copy, Tool". Luckily all went (at least so far) as I remembered about the web printing tool that Ricoh offers. I'll keep my fingers crossed on...

It's been while since I posted the last one. Now that I have a little more time, I'll be back to posting this series one a week. There's a thread below titled "Who Needs 11x17?". It's been ten years now for A4 devices and I feel that most manufacturers have held back from developing advanced A4 devices. When it comes down to it, it's all about profit and the manufacturers don't want to ruin there A3 business. Come to think of it, none of the manufacturers are really killing it with A4.

Selling Copiers in the Seventies with Darrell Leven

Art Post ·
It was good to see Darrell Leven at the recent BTA National Event in New York City a few weeks ago. During one of the breaks we had the chance to chop it up a bit about the imaging industry. Where we started and how we go to where we are today. During that chat is when I found out that Darrell started selling copiers in the late seventies. I asked if he would mind contributing to our Selling Copiers in the Seventies blog. Here's Darrell! What year did you start in the industry and what was...

I guess the BIG news of the week from ten years ago was ere 50 cuts that Ricoh performed that week. However, that was right after the IKON purchase and within four months (end of Japanese) there was to be major cuts with high level legacy employees. Seems to me that one of the covenants if the Ricoh purchase was that all high level Ikon peeps would replace those at Ricoh. AS Vince would say "that's my two cents". Enjoy all of the threads from ten years ago this week. Weekend Copier Notes...

Cool thread here for everyone, you should check this one out. Sometimes you cannot satisfy a customer, no matter how much customer service you provide, and how well the system operates. Case in point...We have had this customer for 8 years, and had sold them a Savin 2527, and a Savin 4027sp as the latest series. They had a 48 month lease contract with full service, and had been happy up to 3 years ago, from what they say. I received a letter they sent to the leasing company stating they did...

My apologies for not blogging as much in recent weeks. It's that end of year thing, and I'm still looking to hit some numbers/ I suffered a set back (kinda ) today when a client told me there was a new rule in place for purchases above ten grand.
