The color units for the 1030, 1230 & 1235 should be the same, as they all take the same ink. Therefore ahould still be available.

The drums are not different! Order the color drum and just put black ink in it! Once the new drum is installed it may enable the color drum light to go on. Not a big deal. There is color in the drum, thats what I tell the customer if they ask. We had to do this with some of the older dups also. Art

During an internal conference call yesterday, IKON explained to it's employees that Canon would indeed be de-certifying IKON as soon as the Ricoh deal is final. Falling back on "Policy" - Canon expressed that this action falls within their policy on not certifying "competitors". Indeed, this action is in line with their previous movements after Xerox bought Global dealers who sold and supported Canon. ...

But there has go to be a low cost ink printer out there. Maybe look for a printer where the user can change the fuser, instead of waiting for service. Anyone else have any ideas?

The presses might very well be attached to online sorter towers that have up to 300 bins per tower. I have seen up to 3 towers attached together. We used to have the same (although only 200 bins) for the duplicators, called CopySorters (for Gestetner brand). They didn't work very well, do to the fact that they would deliver the prints face down into the bins, causing all kinds of smudging issues, because the ink didn't have time to dry. Riso supposedly still has the equivalent available, but...

First is this your actual reply to the account looking at thoseToshiba products listed (455 & 305)? If yes and they have a great history with the Toshiba product, telling them there a "bottom dweller" would make anyone think that you're only wanting to sell them what YOU'RE offering. The models they requested are older models of Toshiba and who knows if they've worked well for them or not. Also if you research the Okidata product, most of their MFP's are based on the Toshiba platform now...

Not that I know of yet. Was it part of the Seri configuration? I knew they were developing that, but thought it was going to be a Seri hybrid - that is using a resin ink. Also, how many heads did it have? My information says that they might have up to 6 heads when all said and done. They are supposed to be replacing the 8500 with a unit that has the HQ master technology, with much greater functionality at the control panel. Any new news of that?

MSRP ink cpc is about the same as it's predecessor (JP8500/5499) @ $0.0014, but the new masters are cheaper @ $0.42 /ea vs $0.46 on the JP8500/5499. Surprising, since they are the new HQ master with the micropore "sponge" layer. Just goes to show that we pay too much for the old type masters! Good selling, Jim.

At the recent Gestetner/Lanier Alliance, they showed us the new duplicator. It is an auto-duplex unit, built on the same style design as the HQ7000. It's a 400DPI unit, with a built in RIP. It can only duplex 8 1/2 x 11 though. The way that it does it, is to burn the front and back image on one 11 x 17 master. It then feeds a sheet through to print one side, and is pushed down to the duplex tray which is located under the ink unit. It then gets pushed back underneath and around a smaller...
