Re: Lancaster resident wins national Konica Minolta Demo Challenge

Old Glory ·
Quite the honor I'm sure but I wander the wisdom of this contest in today's marketplace. How many man (or women) hours were invested by reps nationwide practising for and competing in a contest for skills that are seldom used anymore? I can't remember the last time I did a competitive demo to win a sale. Is it just me? Do salesreps do competitive demos much anymore? 20 years ago it was critical but not so much anymore.

I don't do as many demo's as I use to, however I'm at just about one a month either in my office or a clients office. Believe it or not, I still get a rush with performing them

Update: Regardless of what I've found on forums or replies, true SMB2 or SMB3 scanning is not currently supported. Ricoh has acknowledged and is quickly working on firmware. As of now, there will be an updated firmware available before 8/1/2017 for all of the latest Mono "55" series and Color "04" series. Additionally, there will be more firmware released for the mid-volume, production, and desktop models in between now and the end of the year for current models. From what I understand,...

A good test is if it will scan to a current MAC which does not support SMB 1. The Samsungs have worked, and I believe the Konica Minoltas too. The Canon MFDs do not, not even the latest V3 IR-Advance MFDs. We need to add Authorized Send to support this. Vince

Hardware/Service Sales Compensation Poll! Vote here!

Art Post ·
“Traditionally, our industry’s model has stated that sales reps should receive compensation equal to 10-14% of the hardware revenue produced during that year. As an example, $1,000,000 in hardware sales should equal $100k-$140k in total compensation. I’m curious since dealers are pushing services more and more how that has effected that model since services transactions may not result in hardware sales. If you know how much you made in 2013 and how much hardware you sold, what % of hardware...

Scan-to-SMB Protocol

Hey P4P'ers! Quick question - I have several clients who abide religiously by the NIST standards for IT security. As a result, there are several of my clients that are currently working to disable SMB 1 on their servers and workstations - as per guidelines for upcoming audits. For a few of my clients, this has caused some headaches and they've re-enabled them for the time being. Moreover, with the recent security issues brought about by SMB 1 hackers, this has got to be something that is...

Re: Leasing MNS Hardware VS Copiers?

TML ·
Not being specifically in the MNS/MIT side I can only answer what I know from having good friends and some networking references in that space. I still hear an awful lot about leasing in the MNS/MIT space as it helps keep the technology current. Several of my larger clients run their copier leases as 36 month FMV to mirror their tech leases. They see the value in the tech recycle and are moving some of their stuff to the cloud so they need to lease less hardware. We've seen a good split on...

Leasing MNS Hardware VS Copiers?

Stefan Christensen ·
I posted this to LinkedIn and discussed with some people already, but I would love to get more perspective on a trend I see. I work with copier dealers that successfully lease the majority of their sales, but on the MNS side most customers are paying cash. 1. Why did customers first start leasing copiers rather than cash or traditional financing? How did it come about that 90% of all sales in the BTA channel are leased? 2. Where is the disconnect for MNS/MIT hardware? Is it just how it's...
