same here, I guess they will start their nonsense once USA stocks have been depleted. I just heard of a Toshiba dealer that won school business based on .0018 for black and .02 for color. hahaha!

Re: A Halloween Tale of an A3 Copier’s Death
What is even more scary is how your commission cheques will fall in $ value if you only sell A4 copiers. The copier/printer market is not getting any larger and if a commission sales rep focuses on selling lower $ value A4 boxes, they are going to have to make a lot more sales calls and sell a lot more boxes to earn the same money.

Re: A Halloween Tale of an A3 Copier’s Death
How true! And whats next? How long will it take before A4 will also be banned from the offices? My opinion; As soon as Generation Z enters the office-floors (A3 and A4) print will (sooner or later) ‘disappear’. Who's already preparing his business for this future?

Re: A Halloween Tale of an A3 Copier’s Death
All great comments, this the reason to change now if you still plan to be in this industry for another twenty years. I probably won’t be, but I still have a plan in place to make the shift to niche printing hardware devices. Still continuing to educate myself for the future

Re: A Few Copier Vignettes from the Late Eighties & Nineties
Art, You and I are from similar professional backgrounds and times. We started in 1980 selling Sharp and Juki typewriters. Everything sold near MSRP. Then the fax boom came and we caught that wave perfectly. We sold Ricoh thermal faxes for full list ($2995.00). The only issue was cash flow; we sold them faster than we could order and purchase them. Copier Maintenance agreements went from .022 up to .035 and did not include drums, developer, toner, fuser rollers or lamps! Also, like your...

Re: CBS NEWS REPORT ON COPIER SECURITY
SalesSerice: I agree! Not only that it seems these were KM machines right? Also if you stopped and paused the video you could see the dates of the documents also. I saw nothing newer than 2008, again I'm thinking not a real big deal, however there could be liability for someone. The word is out now, it's all over twitter and I believe we'll all now have to answer these questions about security and what happends at the end of the term of a lease. It may create another profit center for...

Re: CBS NEWS REPORT ON COPIER SECURITY
Certainly not to come across as a conspiracy theorist (although that can sometimes be fun, too), but didn’t the video show that return shipping paperwork was lying on the platen glass on at least one of the copiers purchased? I wonder how many copiers in that NJ warehouse have shipping paperwork attached or simply lying under the ADF. Wouldn’t an identity thief looking to purchase a copier be able to browse the NJ warehouse looking for shipping paperwork from financial institutions and...

Re: Memjet Color Printers to the Rescue?
I see these types of products making a serious impact on our business. From what I see from the video, I can't remember ever seeing a color laser that would be able to output documents that fast, especially with the envelope output. It's the tip of the iceberg with probably faster products to come down the road. Potential Users: Churches Colleges CRD's Print Shops Anyone else care to add to the list of potential markets?

Re: PPDM from Ricoh, Questions
I don't know what Ricoh's opinion would be on this (don't really care) but we accumulate licenses and then distribute them strategically. I sold a single license last week for $350 and charged an additional $150 for client PC install and limited training. Since we have no cost, my company counts it all as GP. I quoted a C300 and said we would include a PPDM license for free if they bought two C300's. I am able to provide a value-add at no cost to me. C300 doesn't come with PPDM but it can if...

Re: Ricoh vs. the Wide Format Competition Video
Art, As you are aware the latest and greatest from KIP is the KIP 700, and it is going very well, especially considering the state of its primary vertical market. Here is a link to a video that shows how to load media into the current KIP 7700. http://bit.ly/KIP7700MediaChange Good Selling!

Re: Got A Situation! What would ou do?
Joe.....sounds like Sharp1 is bias on the 453. I agree with sharp1 that the 453 is a nice unit. But doesn't any 45ppm unit run 5000-20,000/mo? That is the norm for that segment. I should know I worked for Sharp and sold these exact systems. But I have to say if you have an customer that is already not happy then you try to sell them a system with all those extra bells and whistles when they don't want or need then....well you are adding fuel to the fire. Here's the comment that was left by Xerox in reference to "Who's Afraid of Xerox ColorQube" Art – Thanks for tuning into the Webcast. I got a kick out of you running the old HP video from last year. Anyway, I thought I would help with some of your questions about solid ink.
