Re: 1045 and Scan to Email

Graham ·
If you need the speed of the 1045 for the copy side than you're stuck with Global or SR Pro, if you can slow things up a bit, and maybe sell the idea of a little color to make up for the speed differential than try selling the new 1232 with a print/scan option. This will scan to e-mail just like the 1060. We got a 1224 and 1232 in the showroom this week and they seem pretty solid.

Re: GlobalScan Training

NateJ (Guest) ·
We have a 40-system install of Global Scan and the need for training is minimal for the Ricoh reps and the end-user. Global Scan has fewer options for customizing a scanned document compared to Scanrouter Lite or Pro. Also, the options for sending are found in one spot and not broken out into several tabs. Operating GS is easy, the issues I have are with the software itself. There are at least two glitches with the software or MFP firmware that Ricoh has yet to fix. Our customer has had the...

This may be different from something Ricoh is launching this month called gWare but it may be the same. It is embedded in the unit and sends User Code data to a central server. I know about it because of a 54 unit bid that was helped by this information. However, some things that was important for me to know and may be true with Lanier also: 1.) Must be GW Architecture machine...know 1018's or 1055's. 2.) 1022/1027 must have the HDD added. 3.) There cannot be anyother embedded software like...

I hear an update is finally getting close (v1.4). We have a representative from Ricoh Corp. coming out soon to meet with our client to address some of the concerns that they have. They (Ricoh) are also looking for customer suggestions to try and make the Global scan experience more user friendly. I'm all for that. If you design something for a high volume of scans, it should be very easy to use. I'll post any results I hear from that meeting.

Re: Canon eCopy

JasonR ·
I just got a training overview on ecopy today, what's your question? Main benefits I see to it are... It uses authentication, It can communicate directly with the exchange server and pull the global address book, no limit on user names. The i models do not support authentication. and eCopy is a little more then $1,000 more than an i model.

Scott, What specifically is their application? Remember, the 2035/45, 1224/32, the 2090/2105, and 1060/75 all come with scan to e-mail out of the box. If they are sending to less than 2000 destinations, and don't require authentication. You're good to go out of the box. I'm told there is a way to create a csv? file form you e-mail address book and upload to the copier via smartnet monitor. If they require authentication or direct access to mailserver then you add Global Scan. Pete M.

Re: Stewart Letter to Customers in North East!

From a marketing perspective, the letter should have never even mentioned the competition at all. It should have talked about general event (Global being bought) and how their business has responded. By mentioning the competitor, the letter writer leaves the impression that they are playing catch-up to the competitor (ie., the letter writer is reactive and the competitor is proactive). Do you want your clients thinking that your competitors drive your business decisions? Not a good...

It is becoming clearer that Lanier is taking over Ricoh. The new name will soon become Ranier. With X/Global hitting Ricoh hard and Sharp taking a couple of distribution points (so far), it could get interesting at the big, red "R."

The immediate trend (KMBS, Xerox) is Japan direct to dealers in the USA. Global dealers are able to purchase for 30+% off of DMAP 6 equivalent. If Ricoh is going to survive this war they will have to eliminate Ricoh USA. Which got me wondering: What does Ricoh USA do for their dealers...really?!

Re: Big Tom Out as Prez at Ricoh

Do you know this or is it a guess? 30+ points off Level 6 is a pretty deep discount for Xerox. Maybe 30 pts off LDP? My guess is a smaller discount with a "pot" of discretionary funds available.

I recentley spoke to local Global CFO, and he stated that they went to Xerox and demanded prices lower than the japanese manufacturers so they could compete. There are no spiff programs for sales people just rock bottom pricing. Keep in mind that most of the Xerox equipment is from overseas also.

Well..... A) It depends on what they are charing for the overages, not making $25 in profit by getting 1,000 additional color clicks per month could represent a profit of $50 per month for every thousand pages times this by 10 new colors units per month, we then have $500 every month, second month is $1,000, third month is $1,500, fourth month is $2,000, by the end of the 12th month with selling 10 units per month and each one doing only 1,500 color pages a month would represent a profit of...

Hey, I agree, but when you see that type of pricing without competition, what is everyone to think??? I've seen new wide format fully loaded at 8K, and MP C5000's that were reselling at 2% above dmap 6. If I may be so bold, I truly believe that the head honchos have no clue what's going on in the street, plus even if they did they have no way of stopping it. They need the boxes placed in order to keep the factories running, more boxes placed equals more supply clicks. They just don't care,...

Thanks for the info, it is greatly appreciated. It seems that HP is leading in this effort, and they appear to have levels of the product depending on the application. Ricoh seems to be doing an all or nothing approach, the same with Lexmark. Lexmark has a Global application that has a lot of neat features, the problem lies in the involvment of the local dealer. Lexmark wants to come in and do the analysis and launch of the product and is unwilling to even ball park a price on the solution.
