If I am hearing this right, you have two issues...USB access and driverless/wireless printing. Others have USB printing, we don't. However, we have HotSpot Printers that no one else has. http://www.printeron.net/landing/ricoh/Ricoh.html I am going to assume that you are not familier with this. HotSpot printers allow you to print from anything that has email access including iPhones or BlackBerries. You don't need drivers and you don't need to be on the network. I havn't seen one placement of the frontier in my territory yet. But that doesn't mean they aren't out there. I see the whole copier industry making a shift to A$ devices in the next 24 months or less, they have too. Price is the driving factor, I've heard it all about A4's, such as "A4's can't hold up to heavy volume", oh yea then why do I see laser printers with hundreds of thousands of prints on them and they weigh under 100lbs? Heck, I just came from an account that has 180K on a Ricoh...

Well, I figured out a temp work around. 1. Customer prints invoice to ecopy. 2. While in ecopy, customer makes a copy 3. Customer then slects print, (RPCS driver) 4. Customer selects customized RPCS print IKon we set up. 5. Customer hits ok. Two part form is printed from printer, canary is pulled from second tray, white is pulled from first tray and then stapled. So this effort is eliminate "carbon copied" work orders for service techs? What is wrong with the print "workflow" when the software application that generates a service form cannot be configured to print two of the same item? This is not an easy "printer-centric" fix. The application needs to either carry this information to the printer as part of the job or you must have some print-based software (Planet Press/Dataworks) telling the printer what to do. At this point, what other problems...

Assuming that they're on the same WAN & that it's a Ricoh system, you can set it up to Scan to FTP, but instead of an FTP address, set the destination as the IP address of the printer they want it to print on. This also works great if you have a customer that needs to make color copies but doesn't want a full color MFP. You can color scan to FTP on the MFP and set the destination to a color printer, resulting in a color copy.

Re: Wireless Printing to a LAN port on a Ricoh 4420NF (Savin 3760NF)

JasonR ·
Answers to the questions I think are in there: Yes, you can wirelessly print to a 4420 with a wireless card, as long as the home has wireless. The router does not act as a server, it acts as a router. It will take the print job from the PC and "route" it to the printer, as long as you configure them both to be on the same network/IP scheme and print to that IP. Do you need a wireless print server? Well, the answer to that is "no" if you have a wireless card in the 4420 and "yes" if you not.

Thanks very much and LOL about the paragraphs, you are right about that! So if I am understanding this correctly, I need to put the wireless print server next to the 4420NF and run a short CAT5 cable to it? I then can input an IP address into the 4420NF and tell the printer driver what it is. Or maybe it will assign one automatically under DHCP? I would then find it on the 4420NF and input that when settin up the driver? LAstly, do I need to do anything with the router if I use the wireless...

Correct, short CAT5 cable from printer to wireless print server. Best to put in a static IP into the machine, otherwise, you'd have to print to the hostname of the printer and have something doing local DNS to map it from the name to the ever-changing IP. You shouldn't need to do anything at all with the router. Just make sure your IP for the printer is in the same range as the PC. for example, the PC's IP is 192.168.1.1, you could make the printer 192.168.1.44 For small home networks, it's...

Colour quality and reliability has improved a lot over the last few years, so even a one generation old colour copier is very much in demand. The most important question to ask is "how much do you copy 11x17"? If the answer is none, then the next question is "how often do you print 11x17"? When the answer is quite often, well A3 is then a no brainer, however if the answer is rarely, then I'll bundle an 11x17 laser or ink printer. Based on under 10K per month, A4 will save the customer on the TCO over the term of a 5 year lease.
