ITEX 2019 Review

Art Post ·
Hey, what can I say. ITEX 2019 was awesome for a number of reasons. I arrived late Monday evening and was picked up at McCarren by my new brother Pete. We had no more than 30 minutes to chat that night on our drive to the MGM Grand, however we spent the entire next day to getting to know each other better. This was my first visit to the MGM and I thought venue was incredible. I could have done without the forty-five minute wait to check in though. Wednesday Wednesday morning and I'm up at...

Is the Imaging Channel a Bubble getting ready to Burst?

Ray Stasiezcko ·
Earlier last year I suggested that the acquisition activity through the imaging channel seemed a bit out of touch with the realities of the market. My argument stems from the lack of diversification in products, services and their business structure. I questioned then and still question the logic in buying up a declining deliverable, a deliverable which continues to evaporate revenues and profits. Without a change in structure and product diversification, it seems many will soon realize what...

You do have a point about the declining deliverables. But there are other dealers that are raising the stakes with IT and Content. One of our big initiatives this year is to have double digit growth with content.

The dealers will also have to redefine how they deliver to the majority of their print customers.

When it becomes time to change the deliverables it will be too late for many of them. Personally, I don't think the change will come that quick to SMB accounts. Larger accounts without a doubt, going to come down to geographical markets here in the US.

One of the best transformations I know of happened a couple of years ago in Minnesota, a BTA sized dealer sold his entire print division to Marco. the owner turned his business into a software-only company, they are currently doing amazing things with Laserfiche and Sharepoint,

While at ImageQuest as its COO a few years ago they too sold their entire print business. Now they are one of the best and most profitable Managed IT And IT Securities company in the business.

Re: HP PageWide A3 machines

Art Post ·
I was there, I saw the A3 PageWide devices, HP would not give numbers on ink cost, although they did give of the yield of the cartridges. Pricing for cost per page seems like it will follow the traditional BTA pricing model. Which means no device billing for maintenance nor unlimited clicks like the HP PageWide XL 8000's (wide format). Dealers will price the cost per page model. Warranty on the print head is 3 years. HP is touting there value points with this device: Acceptable office color...

I have seen some sample prints, and they are not even close to what you can get from a laser device. But that is just a matter of time...

News from ITEX 2021

Art Post ·
News from ITEX 2021 Heard from two Dealer principals today. Tuesday was the half day event and Wednesday (today) was the full day event Both dealers owners on different days told me that the venue was much smaller than in the past (2019). In addition attendees stated there were more Vendors and speakers than there were office equipment dealer owners/reps. Both dealers agreed that they did not see more than 80 dealers on the show floor. In one of the of the talk tracks today there was only 5...

Heard from my third attendee today and that was from a vendor. Here's the quote "It was brutally low" Now this person was there in 2019 and the attendance was poor then. Attendance was even lower.
