How Many Leases Do You Have?

Art Post ·
By 1 January 2019, public companies will be expected to comply with ASC 842 and IFRS 16, the two new standards that will impact lease accounting. These rules are changing how firms recognize, measure, and disclose operating leases, and how they report them on corporate balance sheets. As CFOs prepare their companies for the new standards, one of the biggest operational challenges is understanding how many leases they hold. It seems straightforward, but operational leases have previously only...

Spending more on coffee than copiers

Art Post ·
Conversation with CFO today. Looking to reduce costs, has 200 or so employees, and the topic of K-cups came up. Company is spending $100 per day on those K-cups, open seven days a week. My quick math told me they are spending more on coffee than their six MFP devices with service and supplies. He stated the cost of each Kcup is about fifty cents. Thought that was interesting, and now I can use that when selling to other accounts, "You're probably spending more on your coffee than you...

Toshiba Toshiba says that NetApp SolidFire SF4805, SF9605 and SF19210 all-flash arrays are using its non-encrypted HK4 SATA SSDs. Daniel Berg, VP SolidFire production operations at NetApp, said: “With the addition of Toshiba’s non-encrypted SSDs, NetApp SolidFire products can now address markets where non-encrypted drives are required.” This news snippet is another pointer to the worth of Toshiba's memory business. That memory business sale saga is ongoing. A JP Morgan analyst, Rod Hall,...

Five Hacks That Will Help You Sell More Copiers (tre)

Art Post ·
It's late, just about 11PM here on the East Coast and I'm watching/listening to the Nationals & Cubs do or die game. Let's Go Cubs! Not that I'm a Cub fan, but more of a hater for the Nationals. I guess that's what happens when you're a lowly NY Mets fan. K, so I have no idea where I go this next hack from. I do know that it was not one of my ideas. Thinking I read about doing this from some sales book that I read many moons ago. Decision Makers They come with many different titles. In...

Linkedin success with DM's

Art Post ·
Recently I've had to do some additional prospecting because I could see the writing on the wall after a solid five months of revenue. I turned to Linkedin, and wanted to connect with about a half a dozen "C" level execs. It's going to be Thursday and I got zero connections. Kinda makes me wonder if DM's are turned off to Linkedin because of the relentless people wanting to connect with them. I have CFO listed for my P4P Hotel and not a day goes by where someone wants to connect and then...

Re: Linkedin success with DM's

In my experience, connecting with c-level execs on Linkedin has about the same success level as picking up the phone or e-mailing. Since you have more visibility into the execs work history, interests, and connections, LI can feel like the "magic prospecting pill" when in fact it is just another avenue to try and establish connection. Whatever ratio you put into number of phone calls, translates to number of meetings, translates to numbers of sales. The same formula holds true for messaging...
