Top three points I make when against Kyocera. #1. Take them color samples from your device and any Kyocera because the color output is sub par on all units. If you don’t have access to one look in your crm for an account you co-exist with Kyocera in. Or the next time you have a knock out make some samples and keep them in a binder. John, The PrintCopy Tool compares pretty favorably to Plotworks. I attached two documents to this post. The Product Support Guide lists differences between the two products. The PowerPoint has screen shots of all the settings in PrintCopy Tool. I hope this helps.

Jason, Talk to KIP again I have never heard of KIP asking dealers to stock machines(maybe one for the demo floor). Plus KIP is releasing the new 800 series next month and these machines look like they should be good sellers. 8 full color "D"s per minute and 10K less that the Oce colorwave. We sell or have sold all the major lines of wide format, KIP, Oce, Ricoh, even going back to Xerox. All our sales reps and techs prefer the KIPs. GR

We are getting $.03 per sq ft. That is less than the monochrome machines, this is why I don't see us placing anymore new monochrome machines. We will place some refurbished ones to the customers that have to go low budget. Not only that it blows the Oce Colorwave away. We have a customer who makes these 20 ft full color GIS aerials that cost him $21.00 each to run on the Oce (his numbers not ours) we ran them on the KIP at a cost of $1.76.

Maven , What I tell my customers and when I'm out with sales reps is it's all about getting things done in less steps. I'm in the legal vertical so time is money and everyone has an hourly billable. We had never charged for it after the sale until about 6 months ago due to people calling all the time for driver installs, scanning issues related to their internet etc. We used to offer an optional network/it yearly agreement and people would decline and then start calling for help. We decided to send out, initially an opt-out to ever customer who had current devices, and after every sale send one out. There is an all inclusive cpc charge for the Erasable Blue toner. The cost per copy analysis suggests that if on a 60 month lease you do not expect the the customer to erase more than 210,000 pages (3,500 pages per month) you can forget the parts cost and charge the same cpc as for Black at around $0.010 per page with a decent profit. There is no charge to erase pages. A 3rd paper drawer would probably be useful. Letter/ Legal/ Erasable. The number of erased pages are recorded and displayed in the useful Paper Re-use Report which describes sheets of paper saved, CO2 saved and money saved. The Eco-MFP can erase pages at 17.5 sheets per minute.

Yes I have sold a couple of these. For the price these are fantastic. My service manager is impressed which is hard to do. Dual side scanning is a definite selling point. The cost per page is going to be higher of course. I would say in the .015 black and white and .11 color to be safe (depending on your market of course). Not as good as say the 6535 per say but the machine is less than half the cost. If the run more than a couple thousand a month I would move them up to the 6535cidn. Let me...

I get paid strictly on GP, but I would be unopposed to a bonus structure for this model. 90% of my sales are new business, so I sell anywhere from 4 to 7 machines per month with 1000 to 2000 GP in each one.

So some clarification first. PaperCut absolutely does support Mac. In fact, it is the only cost recovery/print control solution that I know of that actually installs in an all Mac environment. (Server and Client) It also is the only solution I know of that installs in a Linux environment. So both of your issues are solved with PaperCut. I included the install guides for Mac and Linux to get you started.

So, the Oki or Teriostar 1040 is one page per minute faster than the Ricoh. Oki wants the user to replace the corona wire cartridge and the process cartridge. I believe the process cartridge is the drum. Now, the memories come back, if an end user scratches that drum, it's on the user to replace the drum which is going to be a very pricey item. In about 5 placements, I've been able to take customers from existing A4 color devices and put them into one of these models for not much more than what they were paying, the high cost of A4 color consumables was the key when the user was making about 1,000 color pages per month along with 1,500 or more black. Good suggestion but expensive for a 20 copier install. ShareScan is a hardware add on level of technology to support and maintain that I was hoping to avoid. I was looking at eCopy Paperworks but this law firm has approx. 500 PCs. At around $180.00 per workstation this gets very expensive. Plus I am unsure if the law firm would move away from Adobe PDF. I can agree that they leasing companies (and all lenders) acted foolishly in the past. Now the banks are acting like banks. That's not bad, though it may make it tougher to provide people with equipment you, I and they all know they have no business leasing. [If you were over 2 years in biz, 90% of the time no PG was required.] And now we know that two years in business is not adequate assurance of the company's ability to make the payments, so more assurance is required in the form of a PG.

In Nova Scotia, Canada we are no longer allowed to dispose of copiers by taking them to the landfill. We must pay a local moving company $30.00 per hour (or send our tech to their premises) to disassemble the copier into it glass, metal, plastic & electronic components. One of my clients is a car dealership, and they recently replaced (2) Ricoh MP2510's & (2) Ricoh MP3010's with (4) Lexmark XS658dfe's. The average monthly volume on each of these is around 7,500, so considering that the Lexmarks are significantly more productive and haven't had any service calls in the first quarter, reliability doesn't appear to be an issue. The most important question to ask is "how much do you copy 11x17"? If the answer is none, then the next question is "how often do you print 11x17"? When the answer is quite often, well A3 is then a no brainer, however if the answer is rarely, then I'll bundle an 11x17 laser or ink printer. Based on under 10K per month, A4 will save the customer on the TCO over the term of a 5 year lease.

Art...."SC" means Scan Centric....these offer 1st in industry to scan 2 sided hard ID cards/checks via document feeder. They also have Scan squared technology. Card Shot from the doc feed...upto 1/2" stack of cards. Card shot in scanning mode not just copy mode. Color dropout...removes all color from scanned documents...all the remains is black data. Does most of the business world really have *no* minimum amount of copies included? Obviously, including 30% more than you are going to run is a bad idea, but if a minimum is set at a reasonable level, it's easier to budget your expenses. Also, reconciling those overages on a quarterly or semi-annual basis would help even out the peaks and valleys.

Duty cycle is a calculation where you take 22 business days per month x 8 hours x 60 mins x XXppm. Then subtract out service calls and PM's, then you have your duty cycle. There may be a little more complexity than this, but that is basically how you get the Duty Cycle. You can usually divide this number by 10-20 to get the recommended monthly volume.
