Re: My Top 5 Secrets About Using Linkedin for Prospecting

Czech ·
Agreed! It's not about what you know, it's about who you know! Believe it or not your are connected to the people you are trying to connect with, you just don't know it. This is so true. Art, we should chat. I hit quota last month getting a lead off Facebook. Very cool potential to prospect on Facebook without getting people's "business guard" up.

Re: The Death of Linkedin?

True story: I met a guy on the driving range.....an annoying sort of fellow. We chatted for a few minutes and I didn't think anything of it. Next day I get a request from him on LinkedIn. Not wanting to be rude I accepted. Within half an hour he called my office name dropping my name trying to get an appointment with the owner of my company to get a crack at our 401K business. With the owner of the company out of the office the call got put through to me.......talk about an awkward...

Cant blame the guy for trying. We all started with hitting the street at 8:30 to pound on doors and chase most anything that moved. The nature of Linked is a way to connect, but its tough when a request comes out of the blue.

LinkedIn is becoming the new Facebook. Useless posts by people and political crap all over it. When you do anything business related you are inundated with requests to connect followed 20 seconds later with some sales script about setting up a meeting. I still use it all the time but get annoyed by it daily.

Re: Tell em Columbo Sent You!

Dr. Print ·
I would ask him - Who else are you going to involve in this process. If he mentions the name of the owner’s company, ask how do you know him. You may need to ask a follow up question to get to the owners name. If he does not mention the owners company don’t bring them up, you may end up putting that company in play. You never know how well he knows the controller. I might have 1,000 linked in connections, some of them I may not think of using. That’s my advice

Re: Tell em Columbo Sent You!

TML ·
I agree with dr print. I always ask who my competition is and I know them well enough now to ask which rep it is. I've found lately with one company the owner has been traveling on appointments with a new rep. I've been using this to our advantage as the owner of that company is quiet an aged fellow that knows little about our industry anymore. Find out who your competition is and if that company is listed, ask how they came about selecting them (since you mentioned the incumbent is out).

Re: Tell em Columbo Sent You!

Carl Little ·
Art, I would not ask that question. They may not be in the deal and you do not need another competitor. I might ask however how important relationships are. That will tell you a lot about him. I also try to see who they do business with to try and connect with someone who I know that might know a c-level person inside your prospect. Just thoughts. Thus, I took all the comments and made zero mention of the LinkedIn connection. I did ask about all of the other players and received. Names of the three other vendors, machine models, and monthly lease pricing for each of them. AS predicted price will play the most important part of the buy in, however, I was able to get me and my company to the top of the list (did not give the price yet)m due to the knowledge that I brought to table for automating a workflow process. Gotta just figure out...

If he gave you their lease pricing, he'll give them yours. You were right to hold that back and if price is all important, before I gave him mine, I would ask if all other proposals are in. If yes, then I'd ask, "If my price is best, any reason we couldn't go forward", etc. If price is all important and all prices are in, what else id there to do?

Re: Connect the MFPs you sell to any folder

timw ·
When connecting an MFP to say DropBox, the MFP still doesn't allow for an end-user to view that DropBox's folder tree (without added software), correct? So essentially the customer scans to DropBox, heads back to their computer, and then searches around the DropBox folder until they find their scanned file - which isn't much different than the issue the end-user described in the first place? Am I correct in this? I've been looking around for a solution that can help with this that won't...

Re: Connect the MFPs you sell to any folder

Iris ·
Hello TimW, Thank you for that question. I think it is very relevant, especially as we do have the browse feature for SharePoint. For cloud services such as Dropbox, Micorosoft OneDrive and Google Drive, Udocx enables users to scan directly to any pre-define folder. This means users can scan to several specific destinations within Dropbox. For example, if you want to scan to the 'orders' folder within Dropbox regularly, you can make a 'scan to orders' App. This App will be available to you...

Re: Connect the MFPs you sell to any folder

timw ·
Hi Iris, Thank you for the response! This helps, but the folders still need to be pre-defined, which would be the same thing as setting up a shared folder, no? And the MFP can do that natively. So out of the box, the installing technician could conceivably set up "Scan to Dropbox -Orders," "Scan to Drop-Box - Leads," "Scan to Drop-Box - Accounts Receivable" since no software is needed for this. Or am I incorrect? It sounds like the major plus to Udocx would be the ability to view the folder...

Re: Connect the MFPs you sell to any folder

Hi Timw, I would definitely recommend setting up multiple shared folders! I know this will save your customers a lot of time and really add value to the service you provide. Especially when every end-user gets direct access to the folders he or she uses most. Having this kind of conversation with your prospects is sure to give you insight into what is important to them and which solution will suit their needs best. You'll be surprised how many prospects aren't sure what the MFPs will be used...
