Re: Page Numbering and Stamping

From: Ted Sent: 11/22/2002 6:28 AM I'm sure it would not have been difficult for Ricoh to put the same features, i.e. all the user stamp functions and booklet making mode on the 3800CMF. However, they still need a reason for us to sell the B (&W) 35cpm machines. Once they get the cost of the black toner cost down, the 35cpm, in my opinion, will become obsolete. You can easily cost justify the 3800CMF vs the AF1035 with all the extra you get. Just the cost of the Black is too high right now.

We are a Konica and Ricoh dealer and I am familiar with both products (moreso the Ricoh). They are both good machines, but the 1060 software is far better in most respects: Scanning Konica scans to the hard drive on the controller and then you retrieve it from the "box" with a piece of software called ScanTrip, 25.00 per seat. You have to know which box to pull the scan from. It's what I would call pull scanning. ScanTrip can be set to poll the machine periodicaly to see if there is anything...

I have seen this problem... like 18 months ago. The 240w is generating an error, the display on the 240w shows nothing out of place but the Plotbase software detects the error and won't print until the error is cleared. Unfortunatly, the solution in my situation was to disable the Stamp board in Service Settings. This option is turned on by default even if you do not have a stamp board. This doesn't seem like it would be a fix in your situation. I called Ricoh when I encountered this issue...

Not sure if this was by default when the machine arrived or if a tech did it for some reason. First of all, the 1045P comes with 64MB of memory if I'm not mistaken. Secondly, I suspect the reason why user stamp is greyed out is because there hasn't been one saved there yet. Go to user tools-copier settings-Stamp-User Stamp-Program/Delete and save a user stamp. Then see if it is still greyed out.

To have all stamps active, you need the 64MB upgrade and the hard drive (the Hard Drive is standard on the 35/45, but you will need to add the RAM). The 25/27/35/45 has page number and date stamp as standard, with RAM upgrade you get preset stamps, with RAM and Hard Drive you add background numbering and user stamps.
