Selling Copiers "The Rep that BS's the Prospect"

Art Post ·
I apologize for not being able to write as much as I usually do. December was a rather busy month, in fact the busiest December in years. Cheers to that! It all started a few weeks ago when received a lead (yippee) that was labeled "looking to lease a printer" . I wasn't excited about the word "printer". However, a lead is a lead and follow up has to be immediate when you get a new lead. The Call I was able to connect with the prospect that day on the phone. I was asked if I sold Canon, I...

Ten years ago this week and what was on our minds? It was the Great Recession. I remember it all too well. Many of my accounts were in the AEC market, remember losing almost 30% of that business because of bankruptcies, companies closing and companies just buying their device once they came to the end of the lease. Hope I never have to go through that again! Enjoy the threads from ten year ago this week! Weekend Copier Notes from 1/4/09 Neal · 1/5/097:19 AM According to survey of printshops...

Ten Years ago, this grabbed the top Headline on the Print4Pay Hotel forums.   Konica Minolta Business Solutions, Windsor, Conn., recently introduced the bizhub PRO 1050, a 105 page-per-minute (ppm) printer/copier, which contains over 150...

57 Days of Selling "Day 18"

Art Post ·
Four days in to the new month and it already feels like I'm in the last week of the month! My last day of the month for November falls on the 23, which is the day before Thanksgiving here in the US. Thus, I figure I'm at least going to lose half a day at most. I've got three solid weeks to keep prospecting and closing Last week was not one of my better weeks, a nagging sinus headache and then a flare up of arthritis in my left foot made my day start late on Friday and I had to scratch all of...

This Week in the Copier Industry 10 Years Ago (Last Week of October 2007)

As Friday came to close, there were only two (sales) of us left in the office by the time 4:30PM rolled around. Why were we in the office at 4:30PM on a Friday? That's easy, our month ends on Monday and we're still trying to get move shit forward. As we were packing up, the topic of demonstrations came up somehow. There we were reminiscing about how awesome it was to do demonstrations. The planning, the preparation, and of course the sizzle. I'll admit it, I could present excellent...

There's a thread below about the impending launch of the HP Edgeline ten years ago this month. It is just coincident or just flat out luck that the new HP A3 Color PageWide MFP are launching at or about the ten year anniversary. For those of us that don't have the PageWide, I guess all we can hope for is the same type of epic failure that HP had ten years ago. Enjoy the threads! The Quest for $200K "Insisting that the world keeps turning our way"

Art Post ·
"Insisting that the world keep turning our way" was taking from a song made famous by Willie Nelson, "On The Road Again". While traveling the road all day today, I was thinking what would be the theme for the blog tonight. I settled with On the Road Again. Something told me to read the lyrics and that's when I settled on, "insisting that the world keep turning our way". The lyric "Insisting that the world keep turning our way" resonated with me because when salespeople are on the road we're...

Pretty cool that this post will be the third installment of our Week in the Copier Industry 15 years ago this week. Looking back many of us new nothing about networks, nothing about networked printers and scanners. This site enables many copier sales people to lean on others and to share information that helped us compete. Many of these founding P4P'ers are still members today. I'd like thank them for all that they did over the years. 2002 Better Buys for Business HV 1/18/034:29 PM for 2002...
