when you load the bypass tray it will auto recognize the paper in a pop-up menu, and if you look closely there is a section near the bottom where it shows what a media is defaulted and a button that says “change “. This is where you would program in the media wait. I believe it would be heavy six, if you hit the details button on that screen you will see it by GSM The varnish would be questionable. I’m thinking, try using the selection for “2nd side of printed media”

Re: Print Control/Mgmt
Hi Everyone, Thanks for your posts. Every year or two we see new, low cost competitors that come out of the woodwork for a little while. We are selling against these guys the same as you fight your low cost competitors. There are a few obvious detriments that seem to have stood the test of time. The revenue model can not possibly be profitable for 80% of your customers. Ridiculously low is exactly that, ridiculous and unsustainable. $500 worth of technical support will be used up mighty...

Re: Personal Property Tax
Let the leasing company bill it and that way the customer has an "audit-proof" deduction that can never be challenged by taxing authorities. Like business insurance and taxes on earned income, it is what it is, a cost of doing business that everyone HAS to pay. If another company says its included, force them to divulge the amount (often difficult)IN WRITING - yours will be on each bill.

PPDM is a free software package from Nuance that is bundled with most Ricoh MFP's. One license only, allows the user to connect via server to set customer scan applications at the PC. Like scan2excel, scan2word, scan2sharepoint (i believe), plus searchable .pdfs, pdf fillable forms, data extraction (have not used this yet). SAS, software as a service. Most companies are moving to this model such as Print Audit has now done with Print Audit Secure. Other SAS models would be Document Mall from...

Re: Printing from Mac OS 10.6 and iPad
John: I do not believe the MAC PS drivers support locked print, however if you need this, a good work around is Print Audit Secure, very inexpensive, plus you can release jobs from any web enabled device such as smart phone tablet, etc..... All of the Ricohs that have a ps card can do email2print basically you're sending an email to the device and it will print the file. an't do multiples nor compressed files, this is a nice work around instead of hot spot if the only need to print one file...

Re: Managed Services "Are You in or Out"!
We embraced FM Audit MPS early on and were trained and certified by Kyocera. (Art I was actually in Jersey). Our company started as a PC networking firm so there was that comfort level. The first 2 years went fine. We signed up 17 contracts. 7 units to 56. As a sales person this was a great program to add to my equipment sales. Then we realized the monthly fees were too expensive for our volume/profit. Also some customers did not like the auto toner delivery notification. They wanted 2...

I just sold my first PaperCut installation. While I haven't been involved in a physical installation yet, I've seen PaperCut's WebEx presentation several times and I've yet to see any real differences in PaperCut vs. Print Audit (other than price). I'm not saying they don't exist, just saying I was fairly impressed with the features touted in the presentation (and obviously, so was the client that purchased the software). JasonR's comments regarding PaperCut's inability to track...

You would be correct in the difference from the Papercut NG version vs. the MF version. We have sold about a dozen variations and it is a great product that makes a lot of sense. We have implemented it with MPS and MF solutions and it helps us keep the competition out. It's also great with swipe cards (HID/Kastle, etc...). Good luck.

I also ran across many new contacts and believe it or not many readers of...

Re: .
We use Print Audit (Ricoh has it re-labeled as PCS Director). You can know everything about each print job except the image itself. Who, what, where, when, how much...over 35 pieces of information on each print job. You can purchase the software or get it as a SAAS for a monthly fee. The purchase price is based on the number of clients or user licenses where the SAAS model pricing is based on the number of printers that are tracked.

Re: .
There are numerous brand names out there. I Use Print Audit/PCS Director. Papercut I hear is good. It depends on what is best for the client and what needs to be tracked. In addition, some of these have to reside on the PC and some on the print server.

Re: Track limited usage across fleet
Print Audit can do this. You are assigning a limit to the code. It would not matter where you printed to.

Re: Track limited usage across fleet
I know Canon does not like playing well with other solutions like Print Audit or Papercut. From what I know of Uniflow it is quite impressive though a tad bit pricy. There may be some built in utilities to use but from what you are saying you may to lean towards what has been discussed.

They were a small player. Their tool was similar to Print Audit Assessor, and they partnered with a few supplies distributors to offer it to dealers who could install it free for a 90 day assessment and then charge a per-device per month price. Decent tool, but they didn't seem to have much as an organization.

Yes. I ran into this to. It's true, it can do everything Print Audit can and is ridiculously low. When I mentioned it to people from Ricoh and to other people in the industry looking for value add products they tend to ignore it and avoid it. However, I feel bad and handicapped having to offer a product that is so much more expensive. I looked at Print Audit and for my prospect it would be like $5,000. For Papercut it was like $500. Just another thought, do your sales people do site audits? if so something like In-Map might be worth considering (especially if you use FM Audit etc for a Data source ) http://www.in-map.com/Pages/Ac...n.aspx?ReturnUrl=%2f Personally I just carry a very small form factor laptop as there are some shortfalls to tablets in terms of what they can run and our back end systems, file access etc and cost isn't so much of an issue

The user loves the fact that they can send their 11x17 spreads to the doc server and then configure the print settings at the copier. Just trying to accommodate the end user

Re: MP C5100 PRO & EB 22 Fiery
Since they have the Fiery, once the job is printed it can be archived on the Fiery, all print settings will stay with that job. Make sure they have command work station installed on their PC and log into the fiery controller, right click on the print job and archive it.

Re: MP C5100 PRO & EB 22 Fiery
You can still use the document server with the fiery using the fiery postscript driver or the fiery pcl driver. In the PS driver just click the job properties tab, check document server, and fill in a name or whatever you want.

Re: MP C5100 PRO & EB 22 Fiery
I have had people want to do this too because it's easier to figure out. Also you can't change any job properties except the quantity when reprinting from the fiery.

First is this your actual reply to the account looking at thoseToshiba products listed (455 & 305)? If yes and they have a great history with the Toshiba product, telling them there a "bottom dweller" would make anyone think that you're only wanting to sell them what YOU'RE offering. The models they requested are older models of Toshiba and who knows if they've worked well for them or not. Also if you research the Okidata product, most of their MFP's are based on the Toshiba platform now...

Actually, I did not mention that I am offering any equipment to them. I'm not even sure where they are located, I'm not looking to sell them, All of the recent MFP's that I've seen at the shows have pretty much the same GUI> I do remember something about a more robust partnering with Toshiba/

Re: Best Black & White MFP for 10k/month yeild. Suggestions?
FYI: Toshiba, overall, is in the top ten for R&D Spend-to-Sales ratios. "Bottom dweller" really is not a fair use of words. With any device manufacturer, product is only as good as its dealer support. Get references if need be. RE: maintenance; The asker is talking B&W devices not color. Regardless, get the maintenance. Fewer spikes in copy quality or hardware issues because you'll make that phone call to fix rather than putting up with poor copy quality, etc. for fear of how much it...

If it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck then it must be a duck.
