Re: Prisim Doc record

Shaja ·
We have used DocRecord internally at our dealership for the last two years. I like it; I find it pretty easy to administer and our end users think it's intuitive and friendly. I can't speak to integration with your specific platform. But, for automation it's just a matter of setting up a process with a watch folder through DocRecord's Automation Server tool, and programming a one-touch button on your MFP that scans into the watch folder. PS - we're a Konica Minolta dealer. :-)

Hate to say it but we are a Ricoh dealer and if image quality is the determining factor you are at a disadvantage. We have the previous generation Konica Minolta color that we run in our back office and the KM blows any of our current Ricoh products out of the water on image quality. The only exception is our new production color machine.

Re: Why is single clicking an 11×17 on a “copier” legal?

VinceMcHugh ·
A Konica Minolta Banner sheet is technically only one piece of paper. Are you saying that it should be single clicked also? The only reason that this is an issue is the common practice of Print for Pay shops to run all or almost all of their letter jobs two up and then cut them in half. The end result is to produce 10,000 Letter sheets, that is what they will deliver to their customer. But the choose to do them two up on 5,000 11x17 sheet to cut thier cost in half. But the MFD gets the same...

Art this is something the independent dealers need to push for. not just Android but a common OS across all manufacturers. Running an Android OS on an MFP would lower manufacturing and development costs for all manufacturers. it would also fall in line to Konica Minolta is working on an Android OS for MFP's See the bottom of Page 11 on this InfoTrends report. http://www.konicaminolta.pt/fi...Future_Proof_vA4.pdf

Rumors have swirled for years on Toshiba's exit of the MFP industry. Inspite..... of their recent and aggressive dealer acquisitions. Neither entity is strong enough to stand on its on. Especially due to the consolidation the industry has already seen. Ricoh/Ikon, Canon/OCE, Konica/Minolta, etc. I agree that both have been low price leaders in the US market as well, and the marriage is a good one. This is the start of Toshiba's exit, and eventual sale to Oki Data. Oki Data just didnt have...

Vince: You're right, I remember when that was announced the Konica and Minolta would share technology and maybe a year or two later was the announcement that they would merge. However Konica & Minolta had a lot more in common with film, copiers and cameras to pull off a complete merger. If I were a betting man I believe that Oki will acquire the Toshiba brand for Imaging within 12 months or so.

From what I learned at the BTA East Grand Slam event in Rye Brook, NY on 10/3/12, Ricoh will not adopt this strategy in the U.S. However, they are preparing the RBS locations to pursue Managed IT Services in certain markets. They have no intent to offer any type of offer to Ricoh Dealers, like XEROX has with ACS and Konica Minolta has with All Covered.

Re: What is the future for DigiDoc Flow, eCopy and NSI?

The Toshiba approach to this would be to create a "One Touch" template to scan directly to the target folder. Current eBridge X Operating Systems allows you to navigate a network to find a specific "nested" folder but that can take a few minutes to complete. I agree with Anders that MFPs have limited computational power. The conversion of scanned documents from one format to another is faster processed by a Network PC. Can anyone comment on the length of time in seconds it would take a...

Re: Konica Minolta Sales Up !

With other manufacturers, like IKON (I mean Ricoh), focused primarily on their Direct channel, Konica Minolta has become the organization with the friendliest and fastest growing Dealer channel. Now that XEROX has changed their business model, SHARP is on the brink of collapse, and Canon continues to suffer in the market, Konica Minolta may be in a very solid position going forward.

Sharp's issues are related to flat screen TV's etc. There is a market glut and its been impairing cash flow and inventories. The MFD division is profitable and at the worst, expect a merger as was the case with Konica-Minolta. Their products are solid as is their track record.

This isn't really even a story. For Konica Minolta and Kyocera it will be like losing a mid-sized dealer, & if it is somehow more than that, they will just sign up the NEC dealers as dealers of their respective brands.

But if Konica Minolta or Kyocera signs up those old NEC dlrs, it will be with a lot higher quota than they were used to. The usual NEC dlr may not be big enough to agree to the new quota. Those old NEC dlrs may end up going thru distributors except for a few select larger ones.

Well, there are a couple of ways to look at it. The fact of the matter is, the Canon dealer probably doesn't have a very good handle on the situation. And if the client is running a high percentage of 11x17, then they are going to lose out in service and supplies. We charge 2 clicks for 11x17. And, although I may lose a deal every now and then, by not being close enough to make a difference, we aren't going to lose our pants on mismanaging service. Heres my take on this product, it will bomb . The color copy market is goig downhill and fast. Retail of 56K for 50 ppm. Corporate color users will choose two high speed color lasers over this system day in and day out. Top that off with the anticipated Ricoh release of a 50 ppm color printer in the next six months with an MSRP of under $10K. Konica Minolta will be eating this one for sure.

well said Shaja, bit depth is far more important to quality color than resolution. if you have 8 bit 600X600 your quality will be much better than a 2 or 4 bit with a resolution of 2400X1800. Like a Konica minolta guy told me on resolution you can only put so many dot in an inch until they start to just pile up whereas the bit depth has to do with the color variation per pixel.

It is sad that Ricoh has laid open the market and is allowing the direct reps to compete in current RFG business. The direct operation for Konica Minolta has been put on notice that if they walk into a current KM customer, then they are to turn around and walk out the door. That's from tRick Taylor himself. That doesn't mean if you're a duel line dealer and have non Konica Minolta equipment in there, then it's fair game, but KM is trying to protect its dealer side.

For instance the canon can not have a 3 hole punch added. The kon/mon is speced for up to 24lb paper. We can do up to 34lb. Also on the Konica if you saddle stich anything larger the 8 1/2 by 11 then you can only set it for 25 sets or less.
