Saturday morning here in Jersey. Looks like it's going to be a nice day while the we are still in lock down. I'm seeing more cars than every on the highway leading to Sandy Hook, thus the order of stay home is not being heeded by the regular people of NJ. Which is a good thing because people need to be living their lives as they want and not by what the government mandates. Enjoy our marvelous threads from five years ago this week! Re: Committed to Dealer Success

No I'm not. In the case of Formax, you would call them and they would give you the name of the Authorized Dealer and I'm assuming it would be the same case with Muratec since there are no dealer locators on their web sites. Is there really a need to have 6-8 dealers covering the same geo area along with the Direct channel. Here's an example, in my territory in which we are Authorized I can't remember the last time I received a lead. Some of the manufacturers sights are slanted to delivering...

I have an IT friend who names the printers on his client's networks after the Seven Dwarfs. If he runs out of dwarfs he uses other Disney characters. I always know when I'm in one of his client's offices.

I like the end of lease feature, it's better than taking out the old hd and smashing it to pieces. However, I'll bet some clever person could find out a way to defeat the end of lease feature. Returning the HD to customer is the safest and best way to eliminate risk.

That is a very nimble doc feeder that can do that on a high volume system. Question, can it scan both front and back with both images on one page? I know the card function feature which outputs both sides this way is impressive.

It would seem that from looking at the size of the feeder it could do two sided scanning in a single pass. Can anyone verify this?

Re: Sharp 3rd Quarter Results Copiers Dragging

SalesServiceGuy ·
I suspect Sharp probably uses the business year that ends in March 2013 as their FY2013 4th quarter. Slide 19 is most related to the copier business. It does not indicate that they are doing great but I would not expect that neither are most copier vendors. Generally, Sharp's financial health has improved considerably.

Re: Sharp 3rd Quarter Results Copiers Dragging

Art Post ·
Thanx for taking a look at that. Other copier companies are doing well, in fact KonicaMinolta is doing very well. Ricoh has turned it around also, one of the biggest factors is the yen has devalued against the US dollar. Copiers a core business for Sharp?? I don't think so... Yes, Sharps financial health is better, but isn't it just a matter of time before that massive debt becomes to much to bear? Art

Japan's Sharp (IW 1000/160) saw its shares plunge in Tokyo on Monday following a report that said the consumer electronics giant would fall back into the red, reversing company forecasts for an annual profit. The firm's shares dropped 8.73% to 230.0 yen by the close of trading. Japan's leading Nikkei business daily said the Osaka-based firm would report a loss that could amount to hundreds of millions of U.S. dollars for the fiscal year through March owing to a slump in its struggling...

Art, You know that something similar happened to me when I posted a similar question. They just can't stand the bad press. I still think they are headed towards going away. I mean how long can you continue to sell machines at such low margins and remain in business. I think eventually all these branches will be sold for pennies on the dollar at some point. at some point someone may realize they need to stop subsidizing the direct losses with the dealer channels profits. i remember sitting in the Ricoh dealer meeting a year ago and Corridi or one other Ricoh exec said "believe...

Ricoh doesn't have the money to buy anyone else. Let alone, I doubt they want to go down the acquisition road again after thenIkon fiasco. Samsung is the one who has the cash to buy anyone in the industry. Year before last they had 32 billion in cash on hand at year end they had to spend for tax purposes etc.

Re: We all thought Sharp Corp would be next to drop, but Toshiba Tec may be sold first

SalesServiceGuy ·
The sources for this story are not named nor any details confirmed by Toshiba Corp. Toshiba Corp could request Toshiba Tec (an independent subsidiary company) to buy controlling interest in its shares. The copier division is doing OK but Toshiba Tec probably made a mistake in overpaying for the IBM Point of Sale division a few years ago. This forced a big write down and loss on overstated assets for the last six month accounting period. Toshiba Tec has never been involved with the accounting...

No mention of Toshiba Tec in Toshiba Corp's big restructuring statement made Dec 21 in Japan. It seems all of the pain will be in Toshiba Corp's consumer electronic business encompassing TVs, appliances and maybe/maybe not the laptop business.

Re: Top Ten MFP & Imaging Industry Predictions for 2016

Czech ·
Nice! I would like to contribute a few of my own predictions as well: Xerox will sell its MFP division to focus entirely on production equipment and business services. Toshiba Tec will not sell nor merge with Sharp. Toshiba is too much of a powerhouse in North America alone. Konica Minolta will continue opening up direct branches due to the rapid growth of their brand. These branches will quickly fall apart when they realize that the dealer model is more profitable. Samsung will start...

Sorry for being the bearer of gloom & doom, but I think Czech is either being either overly-optimistic or things in the Great White North are just different than in the Southwest USA. Here are my predictions: Lease volume trends based on UCC filings from EDA show that 2015 placements have fallen by over 13,600 since 2013 (almost 10%) & are now at levels nearly equal to 2009 & 2010. Faced with increased competition for fewer units running less volume due to digitization, dealers...
