Anyone have any tips for me, I'm doing a 5100en demo Monday. They already saw the KIP 7900.

They will have a "problem PDF set" that they said printed quickly on the KIP. I will have to print it out as well. Got a screaming fast new PC to run Plotworks for this demo. I'm concerned about the Transparency setting KIP has.

thanks.

Not sure if I can help I haven't sold a system with Plotworks yet, what I can tell you is that I did beat a KIP 7900 without plotworks using the web batch print tool that comes with the system.

Are they an incumbent KIP user?

If not I would focus on brand of Ricoh, the quality and the ease of use. Show them how to scan to dropbox from the MFP panel, better yet focus on the document server these maybe to areas that you can win with.

Everything that I've be told about plotworks is that is a high end, works well, works fast.

I recently lost to KIP because OUR system would not respect pen settings for shading.  On a gray scale generated out of an AutoCAD color wheel they wanted to match shade 255, which is a very light shade of gray to represent hardscape....and we could not even get close.  The 5100en just plotted a dark gray.  This was specifically using HDI drivers (which was the firms preference due to quqlity expectations)....PCL and Postscript worked fine, but with those  we lost a lot of quality control.  This engineering firm was quite picky on output quality and the KIP delivered.  Additionally, they would scan in plans that were signed off by all l parties, then plot from the scan....the multi sets for distribution for the "FINAL BUILD PLANS" our quality on the prints from the scan was very poor....grainy with a loss of all shading quality.  KIP also delivered here and gave them excellent reproduction of the original scan.  Talked to Ricoh all over the country...they told me sorry, but it won't perform.  It was a 4 unit deal. FYI...the Oce didn't perform either.

we lost due to "little things" the owner wanted that KIP does: Like color scanning to print directly to a Canon color plotter, SEEING a watermark you create and import onto a print job prior to printing, and (mostly) overall processing speed on a problem multi-page PDF they had that the KIP printed faster.

"Like color scanning to print directly to a Canon color plotter". that's a standard feature in the KIP?
