I just go an update from IA tonight, one of the lead stories is Xerox and wide format.

Here's the paragraph on wide format:

WIDE FORMAT

It’s been an interesting few weeks for our neighbors at Xerox here in Rochester NY. On March 1, Vice President of Xerox Wide Format, Scott Fame, announced that Xerox was exiting the wide format market in the US and Canada in 2011 with the exact timing of this departure based on inventory levels.

In our opinion, this move has been a long time coming. Xerox was an early entrant to this market and in the past had been a leader but recently, they seem to have been caught in the middle. Their products were either too expensive and over engineered to compete with the cheaper Canon, Epson and HP products or they weren’t competitive with the more sophisticated high end products from Océ and Heidelberg. Xerox recognizes the opportunity for wide format and while they are leaving that market locally, they appear to have left the door open for arrangements in overseas markets and will continue to sell in these locations. It should be noted that Xerox did not manufacture these wide format products. They were sourced from Fuji Xerox.

"Their products were either too expensive and over engineered to compete with the cheaper Canon, Epson and HP products", WTF, Canon, Epson and HP??? Seems like they are talking inkjet, we all know Xerox was never really a player in this arena, they had a couple of units but in all my yeas I never saw and inkjet Xerox in the field!! NEXT!

"or they weren’t competitive with the more sophisticated high end products from Océ and Heidelberg." Ok, maybe here they finally got down to LED, but gimmie a break Heidelberg??? What are the people at IA drinking, late night Martini's???

They should have taked about the KIP infiltration to the market in recent years, the fact that some of the Xerox's were OEM'd from KIP, plus the fact that they were just plain getting their butts kicked from the likes of OCE, KIP and Xerox. Shame on IA if they should have done a better job and I was looking forward to ready something note worthy.
