San Antonio-based DOCUmation Inc. acquired a competitor in the Dallas-Fort Worth area with plans to expand across North and East Texas markets.

DOCUmation, which sells printers, copiers and information technology to business customers. bought Documentworx LLC which is based in Arlington between Dallas and Fort Worth for an undisclosed price. Documentworx was founded in 2012 by Perry Langham and David Jones, state incorporation records show.

DOCUmation plans to change the company's name to documentWORKS and open offices in Houston and Austin.

Preston Woolfolk and Hunter Woolfolk are co-presidents of DOCUmation in San Antonio. DOCUmation and its former affiliated companies in other Texas markets split in 2017.

DOCUmation was founded in the late 1980s and already covers West Texas, the Rio Grande Valley and San Antonio in addition to the Texas Hill Country. Both DOCUmation and documentWORKS are resellers of RIcoh, Konica Minolta, Kyocera, Lexmark, Canon HP and Dell products. In recent years DOCUmation has bolstered its information technology support service for managed printing services and document management for businesses.

It was not immediately clear how many employees Documentworx had at the time of the deal. DOCUmation has nearly 200 employees according to its LinkedIn profile.

Preston Woolfolk called the acquisition "a great opportunity" for DOCUmation and sees "continuing the growth we've experienced on the software solutions side of the business while expanding our presence and major account opportunities", he said in a statement.

Hunter Woolfolk described the move towards becomes a "one-stop" company for printing and electronic document management in a statement.
