COVID19 "Remote Working" Day Thirty-Six of Sales
Working from home is something I never liked doing. In the past I've worked from my office when there were snow days, bad weather or days leading up to and after a major holiday. The reason I never liked working from home is because I can get distracting with other items when my mind roams. Whether it's watching the news, tending to the yard or just fix something that I've been itching to fix for a long time. I guess it's my adult ADD. A few weeks ago I decided to write my self a little note...

COVID19 "Remote Working" Day Thirty-Four of Sales
Tomorrow is going to be awesome! Finally some sun and some warmth with temps in the seventies, we might be a little cooler at the beach but I'll take it over the cold and damp days of late. Tonight's going to be a really short blog, it's late and I'm beat plus I'm looking to get a head start on tomorrow. Two meetings were on tap for today. One of the meetings was to move a BDR opportunity closer to the finish line which we did. My other meeting was with a Municipal IT DM to ask some...

COVID19 "Remote Working" Day Thirty-Seven of Sales
Thirty-seven business days now since I was optioned to working from my home office. The average number of selling days is twenty-two per month. Five days from now it will be two solid business months and 66% of the quarter. Our fearless and blessed Governor just extended his Executive Order for his Emergency Act for another thirty days in the State of New Jersey. I'm kinda torn about this now, 30 more days of working from home could be a good thing since I'm on such a roll and who wants to...

Color Label Press University "Glossary of Terms" Part Sixteen, Course One
Over the last few years I've blogged about the importance for dealers to diversify to other avenues of print. Especially if they want to stay in the "break and fix" model for servicing and selling devices that print. One of those opportunities is color label printing. The list of the types of color labels is enormous. Bumper stickers, political stickers, custom groceries, branding, safety, food labels, CBD, beer & wine, cannabis, the list goes on and on. Post COVID19 recovery will...

COVID19 "Remote Working" Day Thirty-Eight of Sales
So much went on today and I'm not sure where to start. I'm thinking I won't get back to full time prospecting until next week and that's because I've be digging to try and hit that magical number of 200K for May. As of today I have about 30K in opportunities that could close in the next 2 days. After that it's going to be a struggle, however after tomorrow there are still eleven selling days in the month for me. What's good about the eleven days is that I still have more than 50% of the...

COVID19 "Remote Working" Day Forty-Three of Sales
This is the first night since I started writing this blog series that I wasn't sure what I was going to write about. After 43 days of writing how much more can you cover or how much more content can you provide for other peeps with help they might need. Tonight I'd like to cover a few things I've been doing everyday other than taking the occasional break and lunch. Many weeks ago I learned that I can't work with the TV on in my office. It's too distracting especially when I have the news on...

COVID19 "Remote Working" Day Forty-Four of Sales
It's 10:36PM on a warm night in New Jersey. Finally we have a day in the low eighties and there was no wind that blew in from the ocean. When that wind comes off the water we can be anywhere from 10-20 degrees cooler from inland parts of Jersey. There's also a chance that a week from today we just may be feeling the effects of a tropical storm that is suppose to move up the coast. If this storm becomes a tropical depression that stormed will be dubbed Arthur. What a great way to start off...

In New Jersey, is the copier business considered to be an essential service? Copier dealers, for example, service equipment in hospitals and medical centers. Canada's largest province, Ontario, declared a State of Emergency yesterday. Sometime today we will find out if the copier business is an essential service.

Four things you should do tomorrow. 1). Toss your toothbrush. Get a new one with a plastic cover! 2). Start cleaning your cellphone twice a day 3). Start changing the pillow case on your bed everyday and wash in hot water. 4). Start cleaning your computer keyboard or tablet screen twice a day. 5). Use the speakerphone on your cellphone or landline as much as possible to minimize contact with your face.

Re: COVID19 "Remote Working" Day One
I have been working out of a home office for most of 40 years. If your employer gives you the correct piece of paper, saying you must work at home, there are some great tax benefits. You can claim your office space, the path to your office space, the path to your bathroom, any office equipment storage space and maybe a front room where you receive couriers. Ask a friendly sales rep to meet you in that front room at least once for a sales meeting and an alibi and bingo you can claim that as...

Look at all the restaurant industry is doing to save its business. Office equipment reps millennial and younger are looking for a 2 week vacation, while us in the in the business for years have seen some of this such as the housing collapse and 9/11. Interesting as they support the Bernie type politician but when you ask them to pull together for the team and region to remain profitable to put off layoffs they claim excuses.

Thanx Kimberly I was looking for a two week vaca also, but my reasoning is that the entire nation should shut down except for essential services.

That would be know as a "stay-cay". Yuk! Yuk! Where I am as of today, all bars and restaurants are to be closed except for take out services. Real bad news for waiters/ waitresses. I sure hope this does not extend into the summer tourism business which in Atlantic Canada is like the 3rd biggest industry.

Ty @Kimberly trying to get it done! Our Governor is a real stinker. He lives about 5 miles from me in a huge mansion on the Shrewsbury River. On Saturday there was a car parade that drove past his house with horns, signs and they were all going 5 miles an hour. He still didn't get the message

We start back Friday. Governor supercedes our Dallas County judge who wanted until May 15th. Our office is in Dallas County though I live in one that has not been as restrictive. Power grabs and egos. The people are angry. Will be interesting to see how this plays out.

One thing that has happened several times this week is that customers who have signed leases for new equipment refuse delivery, sometimes we learn about this while the delivery truck is in motion, claiming they just do not know how they would pay for the equipment. One of my copier sales reps is experimenting with building into his cost of goods worksheet, the first three or six months payments of any lease proposal, extending the lease at the back end by the same amount of time and giving...

Isn't it crazy how quickly the time flies when you're working remotely? I feel like at least once I day I look at the clock and in confusion say is it really 1pm ?! This is certainly very interesting times. One thing I think you touched on in a blog post is the fact that it also gives you time to do things that are important to sales but not A-time important. I've found in working with my sales team we've been able to do some real good clean up in our CRM (bad data went in, we're getting...

COVID19 "Remote Working" Day Fifty of Sales
This morning started last night (Sunday) for me. I had booked a 10AM to get docs signed for a new color wide format MFP. It was about 9:30PM when I tried to access our CRM and it was down. The site wasn't down but I couldn't access it because I still needed to be setup as a user and didn't have credentials. The plans of printing off the order doc, the ma and the lease wasn't going to work. Next course of action was to pull up order docs that I had already used for other accounts. Never the...

Day fifty-one now since I've been optioned to remote working from my home office. In 15 days we'll hit 66 days, those 66 work days represent and entire quarter of the year. There may be some good news on the horizon though. Today a gym in South Jersey filed a law suit against our Governor, the AG, the head of the state police and the top health official. Below is a snippet from a recent article. I"an Smith and Frank Trumbetti have filed a federal lawsuit that challenging the...
