Equipment must have up to date firmware. Other than that no issues that I'm aware of with equipment made in the last 4 years.

Re: Ricoh Distributed Scan Management with new 03 series

mdsguy ·
DSM will let you centrally manage scan buttons on an mfp (that supports DSM) to a folder, email, or SharePoint from a Windows 2008 R2 Server. Access to the buttons is controlled with AD. No OCR functionality but it is now an option on the mfp itself. No more individual address books to worry about. Ricoh announced support back in 2010 but unfortunately very few models have it.

Great article from West! Those are some interesting stats. Regarding "Canon go Kaboom": Canon will always push hard for colour because they want to maintain their #1 spot in the marketplace. On the dealer side profitability is based on what the account needs. If a customer is doing 10 colour prints a month on an inkjet printer, dealers will sell a monochrome box. Corporate Canon on the other hand will push for a colour box, even though the colour volumes are not enough to make profit on the...

Update: Regardless of what I've found on forums or replies, true SMB2 or SMB3 scanning is not currently supported. Ricoh has acknowledged and is quickly working on firmware. As of now, there will be an updated firmware available before 8/1/2017 for all of the latest Mono "55" series and Color "04" series. Additionally, there will be more firmware released for the mid-volume, production, and desktop models in between now and the end of the year for current models. From what I understand,...

A good test is if it will scan to a current MAC which does not support SMB 1. The Samsungs have worked, and I believe the Konica Minoltas too. The Canon MFDs do not, not even the latest V3 IR-Advance MFDs. We need to add Authorized Send to support this. Vince

How To Use a Thin Client as a Printer Server

Art Post ·
By Tom Fenton 02/12/2019 When I upgraded to Windows 10 from 8.1 last year, I found that my printer was no longer supported and after a long and fruitless search, I could not locate a Windows 10 driver that would work with it. I acquired my printer, an IBM, Lexmark, Ricoh Infoprint 1352, at the beginning of this century: a 40 PPM monochrome laser printer designed for the small to midsize business (SMB) market, which has been a workhorse for me for the last 15 years, and has never given me any...

Art, I have a password reset disk I use for these occassions. If all else fails I can send you an iso and you can try it. With this you go into the Bios and set the PC to boot from disk and it gives you an option of reseting passwords.

Re: Plotbase Dilemma Question

fisher ·
Why are they upgrading the PC???? Simply because Microsoft isn't supporting???? If so, my advice would be not to change a thing. The PC should be dedicated to the plotter and as such should not be doing anything out on the interwebs that would invite a virus in. Big can of worms to open on a machine that is that old especially with the lack of support from the defunct manufacturer of the Ratio controller. Opportunity to upgrade to a modern machine with internal controller.

If you make your living selling MPS

Posted on June 18, 2014 by Print Audit By West McDonald If you make your living selling MPS you know as well as anybody that the space isn’t growing in leaps and bounds. There are lots of people talking about MPS as a mature market. Translation: Growth is flat, at best, and more likely in a slow decline. It’s not all bad news. There are persistent pockets and verticals that continue to print heavily. And there is nothing better than a good MPS Assessment to help you chase down the pages.
