Last week was a killer! Not that I sold anything, but I had a golf outing on Monday (did secure a meeting out of that), two full days of training in PA on Wednesday and Thursday. Friday AM I left for the Jersey office and what should have been about 2.5 hours turned into almost 5 hours because one of the major highways was closed in both directions. I had to bird dog my way home on the back roads of eastern PA. Enjoy these threads from 15 years ago this week! New Ricoh Type-H Staple...

Some additional tidbits from the show I was at for the last three days. I learned along time ago that in order to be successful at these types of events that you need to engage with people when they walk by your booth. You need to greet everyone that walks by and then ask them a question. The question I asked the most is where they were from, after getting a response I would then ask if they have a plotter or ask if they've ever seen a white board before. The questions sparked conversations...

I n 2006, at least for me, wide format was the product to sell! I couldn't have cared less about selling a copier, I wanted to dig under every rock and find those wide format opportunities. On a recent presentation I gave in Texas, I was asked, "why focus on wide format?". My answer was simple, higher revenue, higher GP, DM is usually accessible, AEC market values IT, and I get the chances to sell them a copier somewhere down the road also. It's the two for one thing! I referenced that series but the MP 301's, in our experience pushed the limits of that engine too far and we've had so many premature PCU f ailures that we're getting them out of the field as fast as we can. Ricoh has done the same thing with the duplicator line, as soon as the finally figure it out they start rebranding Duplo which has a 5 million page life, not much for a dupe.
