The Week in Copiers 15 Years Ago for the Last week of June 2015
It is vacation week for me for my day job, however there's no vacation for the Print4Pay Hotel work. My daily blog on working remote will be put on hold until I return. Who knows maybe something will break during the week that I'll be able to write about. Even though I'm on vacation we know we're never really on vacation anymore.

EFI Fiery Question

I have a customer who has a Canon CL5000 and a CLC300, (also a 2190 & 2090 ricoh), they are currently using Doc Builder from EFI for thier Canons. His question: Since he is alrady using Doc Builder on the Canons, can he also use this for our new color device or any other copier that uses a fiery? Thanx

Memory Lock is a feature that allows incoming faxes to be stored, and not printed until an ID Code is entered to retrieve the fzx. On page 38 of the Advanced Features Fax Reference Book explains how to activate this option. If you need the owners manual, we are a Savin dealer, and I can email the pdf file.

A Tech Instructor at Ricoh told me that memory cannot be upgraded on the 2018d with the all-in-one print/scan/fax option. The system comes with 192mb RAM and the fax option has 160 pages of fax memory. However, if customer is sending out 50 pages of loan docs using legal paper, and has more than 25% coverage, the memory cannot hold the load. And there is no way to partition the memory so only the fax can use more of the 192mb. My only option was to propose a 4410L with Feature Expander as

No special project at this point, going to set up some different wireless products in our office to learn. Checking to see what functionality we can get with a 3rd party wireless print server like netgear ($100) vs. Savin ($300)

Has anyone hooked up any of the Savin MFPs - 4022sp with wireless NIC and used them to scan? I know the wireless works for printing but wasn't sure for scanning.

Set up directly through WIM. Also try and browse to the shared folder from another PC on the network. When you 'test' the connection what error is thrown back at you?

I just came from an account. They are running Acrobat 7.0, they are able to scan to pdf, when they try to print they are only able to print a few inches of the drawing and the rest of the page is blank. A few times the Plotbase server just hung, we have 512MB. We then came up with an Adobe Acrobat error, I clicked to send the report to MS and was then prompted that there is a problem with Adobe Acrobat 7.0, the MS prompt told the customer to contact Adobe. The customer is going to contact them

We currently use the memory lock for HIPPA compliance in medical installations. Also you may want to check into reverse order printing, this will cause all faxes to receive to memory and print page 1 on top ready to read.

FYI There have been scanning problems with pdf's and Acrobat Reader 7.0 on the 2045/Savin 4045's that required firmware upgrades.Hope it's not related.

Dean, We are a Lanier dealer, and working on some wireless antenna's to see which is the best for scanning. We have connected one of our Kyocera color mfp's wireless on the scan side and wow'd a customer who just deployed a wireless we set up for her. You can get wireless access points for under $80. Connect anything wireless to USB or I prefer RJ45. An ethernet cable to Ricoh device network card. Easy to setup and reliable.

OKI to release new MFP Color

I was at a preview of this new MFP from OKI (the printer compnay). OKi told us that HP has failed with thier current MFP strategy and they are going to sign a "select" 100 dealers across the nation for their new product line. I sae the new ES3640 in their lab. Color qiality was excellent at 1200 x 1200 dpi and four bit color. The unit comes with a single pass duplex color scanner, Scan2Network, Scan2eamil, Scan2folder 1 GB of RAM, 20GB HD, and Fiery, plus Network scan2fax through Zetafax, PSII

MERGING ELLIPSE INFO ONTO A TEMPLATE AND LAN FAX

Hi Guys Hope everyone is well, Just a quick one- We have a customer that uses ellpise( basicaly the same as SAP) . They are currently printing out the data from elipse then the go and make copies and merge the data with a standard template, and then the fax this out. Their question to us is- do we have a solution that may help them where they can automaticaly LAN FAX the data out but with the information already merged into the template.
