LONG BEACH, Calif., Oct. 9, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Epson today announced its SureColor® F6200 dye-sublimation printer has won the SGIA 2018 Product of the Year Award in the "Roll-to-Roll Dye-Sublimation on Metal" category. This is Epson's third consecutive year receiving the prestigious Product of the Year award in this category from the Specialty Graphic Imaging Association's (SGIA) annual competition. Epson's complete line of dye-sublimation solutions, including the winning SureColor F6200 printer and the new Epson DS Transfer Photo Paper will be shown in Epson's booth at SGIA, #1414.

"Each year the competition gets stiffer as printing technologies advance and dye-sublimation becomes more commonly used within the printing industry," said Tim Check, senior product manager, Professional Imaging, Epson America, Inc. "The SureColor F6200, when combined with Epson UltraChrome DS ink technology and the new Epson DS Transfer Photo Paper, is a full dye-sublimation solution optimized for rigid photo applications. We are delighted that the device and output quality was notable among some of the industry's highest quality manufacturers."

Epson created the award-winning submission using its new solution designed for creating dye-sublimation photo panels and other rigid substrates. New Epson DS Transfer Photo Paper, a high-quality, lightweight dye-sublimation transfer paper, combined with the Epson SureColor F6200 dye-sublimation printer, UltraChrome® DS inks and Wasatch RIP support, creates a complete solution designed to produce rigid photos with advanced print quality and vibrant images with minimal grain, consistency and reliability.

More than 100 companies competed in the 2018 Product of the Year competition, submitting 255 entries in the 74 categories – the largest field of competitors in the awards programs' history. All entries will be on display in the Golden Image Gallery at the 2018 SGIA Expo (Las Vegas, Oct. 18-20).

"This year we mixed it up and placed unique images that helped generate a more complete set of objective data to provide feedback to the judges. The competition was tight, and the results were outstanding. Epson's award was well-earned," said Ray Weiss, director of digital print programs, SGIA.
