Recent Meeting with an IT person

Art Post
I had a recent meeting with one of my existing clients that has a lot of Brother printers. Slowly been taking the Brothers out with Ricoh A4's. We had a recent email exchange in reference to spreadsheets that I developed for cost per page on my A4's. That IT person was stating my CPC was wrong and then emailed me thier file. That IT person had also figured in the cost of the Ricoh A4 in his cost per page analysis. I couldn't argue with them but its a reminder that the total cost should...Read More...

Scanning is the most common MFP task

I am considering revising my quote format towards placing my scanning specs and capabilities ahead of the traditional hardware "speeds and feeds" specs. Somewhere I read recently that 58% of the time, scanning is now the most frequent task performed at a MFP. Unfortunately, I cannot find the document that gave me that information and I was hoping a forum member could help to validate this claim with a web link reference. Thanks!Read More...

The Death of Global Imaging Systems?

Art Post
Had a call today from a very reliable source that Global Imaging Systems will be gone as of January 1st. That person did not say what year, but after hearing from a few other peeps at Global yesterday and today, I'm pretty sure it's this coming January 1st. I was told that GLOBAL IMAGING SYSTEMS will be absorbed by Xerox as of January 1st. Although this is a rumor for right now, I'd bet dollars to doughnuts it's true since I had a call from a Global Exec yesterday. Out of the blue that...Read More...

Manufacturer Support on Bids

Jason H
How is everyone's support from their manufacturer on bids? I am noticing that it seems they do not want to mess with them anymore. We were starting to work on a 40 machine RFP for a fairly large organization. Call my Konica rep and he looks over the RFP and tells me "fantastic, use your dealer pricing".....I said no you need to go and get some pricing support and he said there won't be any extra support. Canon is the same way. Unless its over 250,000 they say there's your price book, use it.Read More...

Hi All, I just heard this from my Nuance Guy, now Kofax guy that all of Nuance Imaging Division (eCopy, AutoStore, Equitrac, CopiTrack, etc) was sold to Kofax. I think that this could be a good thing for the Dealer Channel as Nuance seemed a little lost figuring out how to do non-drop ship business. Hopefully we will also see some of that cool Kofax Processing ability make it into these products. That could be a real differentiator for ShareScan or AutoStore if they could have Kofax...Read More...

Ink Based MFP's In The Market Place

How fast will the new ink-based products take over the A3 MFP laser market? Can we expect faster market acceptance with news from the Number One Copier Manufacture? No, I don't mean Sharp or Toshiba. Canon is moving forward with an ink-based A3 MFP. My opinion is that the market will accept the product and features faster than A4 products. Big changes coming to the marketplace when machines that require less service hit the market.Read More...

Canon's new 75PPM A4 MFP series

Art Post
Canon is looking to crush the A4 MFP space with three new models that are replacing the older 400i & 500i series There are three models to choose from. 75PPM = 715iF 65PPM =615iF 55PPM =515iF See attached documents. For me the 75PM is a killer, especially with the dealer price. Bit it's not all about the print speed. these puppies have a single pass feeder and can scan up to 100 ipm! Going to be very tough to compete. More to come on these Hey, if you're selling these, would love to hear...Read More...

Selling from the Heart by Larry Levine

Art Post
Yesterday I received my copy of Selling from the Heart (Larry Levine). I got through the first 80 pages last night and will try to finish the book up this week. For those of you that don't know Larry, he's been and still is a Print4Pay Hotel member. He started in the copier Industry in 1988. Larry and I first met back in the early 2000's at a Ricoh Show in Vegas I believe. Ever since then we've kept in touch through the forums and a few phone calls each year. If you get the chance I...Read More...

Customer Service Field/Sales rep

Jason H
I have been thinking recently as well as talking to some others about having a customer service rep in our open territories checking on customers and generating some business. We cover a fairly large territory and a major city and have not had all territories covered in quite some time. Obviously it is very hard to keep relationships with current clients in these open territories so I have been thinking about hiring a CS rep where their focus is 100% doing customer check ins as well as...Read More...

Mac to Print via PCL

Art Post
I just ran across this today and thought I would share with everyone. Picked it up from spiceworks You can work around it by installing Gutenprint which will allow the Mac to Print via PCL. The PS module is the best course, but I've had several clients go this route. http://gimp-print.sourceforge.net/MacOSX.php Found on Spiceworks: https://community.spiceworks.com/topic/396547-mac-printing-to-ricoh-i-m-so-close-i-can-almost-touch-it?utm_source=copy_paste&utm_campaign=growthRead More...

This year, awards will be presented in the following categories: Primary Product Line, Secondary Product Line, Remanufactured Cartridges Provider, Third-Party Leasing and Wholesale Distributor. I put this on Linkedin last night, and forgot to put this here also. Don't want to talk too much about the order because it's signed but not delivered yet. In addition there may be addition revenue behind this. I hope you all can understand. I don’t have a fancy picture, nor a creative meme hashtag # memes and not even a fancy sales gimmick to tell you about. What I received today was an order for $45k from an an account that I’ve been stopping in for 30 years! I’ve lost so many times over...Read More...
