Or that it would only rise by the CPI, which these days is a joke of a deal, as it is only around 2%. Well, I evaluated @remote years ago before we decided on Printfleet so my info may be dated. From what I recall @remote did a fine job of collecting meters on my Ricoh devices. Not so well on non-ricoh devices. It did not have any accounting capabilities as it simply pulled data from the copiers. Printfleet does the same, pulls meters from devices, has very robust reporting such as: Want to know how much your printer prints from 8-9am Monday morning? It can tell you. The quality of the data

Be aware on this, we have been using this for over a year and the pit falls are. The percentage coverage is based on overall coverage not per toner, the biggest thing is the cost you offer it at, if 30% is in 0-5, 30% in the 6-10 and the 60% is above. What we have found is that the 60% and above is not just 11% coverage but 20-30%, so your copy cost doesnt cover this cost and you could lose money on the high end copy cost. The two lower tiers make you money but your margins are lower as 60%...

We became a Premier Partner with Print Audit so naturally, our orders now go through them. The main differences have more to do with timing of upgrades. For instance, we have had Print Audit Secure for quite awhile but PCS Director still doesn't have it I don't think. Also, I think you'll find that you can't "sell" the PA6 software if you are a RFG Dealer. All that having been said, all the things that people care about functionally, are the same.

I have the strong belief that most other copier vendors can do the same thing. Generally, from the print driver, the customer has to select thick paper. Canon's units can have up to 100 mailboxes that can be individually named. I'm not sure about your source, but it's already in the Ricoh units, we found this about 4 months ago in the mpc305, the issue is getting it out of the system automatically for billing purposes. We use purpose software which can automatically cope with tiered billing.

Calums: Thanx for this, I see you're in the UK and the info I related to was that the tiered info came from a document there.My source was from Print Audit, but I wanted to make sure this was the case. We were talking about the latest upgrades to PA, and one of them was that their facility manager softwareis capable of taking those tiered color levels and putting them in a bucket so they could be billed. You can scan to Mailboxes (like Ricoh's document server, but better) and an Advanced Box as well (similar to dropbox). Anything else requires additional software.

What was stated to me was that their facilities manager product would be able to collect the tiered color billing and then report on it. All I heard was that @remote was going away. I was so surprised by the aspect of these new devices having the tiered that I did not even bother to ask about a replacement for @remote

All you have to do is look at the competitive analysis (See Attached) between the Ricoh C4503 and C6502 against the competitors from Canon, Xerox, and KM to see how much of a difference True Adobe PostScript makes in the printing speed. Emulation machines are noticeably slower, to the point that you could argue that a lesser Ricoh needs to be proposed in order to compare accurately.

ink is blue, option is $1,600 or so MSRP and also has a scanner unit in the system to archive the data before the toner is erased. There is a latent image on the paper (you really can't even see it). Good idea, however re-using the paper after it has been printed (ran through fuser), handled, marked up, and then erased. I'm thinking you won't be able to get that many clean sheets (no folds, dog ears, pen marks, wrinkles) to put back into the feeder to erase the blue toner.

MP C6502 "Gotcha"

While pricing out a MP C6502 system I made a huge mistake. I needed to configure the MP C6502 with GBC Stream punch and booklet maker. I did the old look at (v) and the look up the finisher, but for some reason I messed up. With the MP C6502 you can't add Ricoh's bookletmaker the SR4100 and have GBC stream punch. You have to add the huge BK5010e Plockmatic booklet maker and the SR 4110. End result is that the plockmatic added almost $10k to the deal. While Canon's C9270 can have both the Canon

The cost of PostScript on Ricoh is half of what it used to be with most models being below $300 cost to the dealer. Kyocera is an emulation......it works but it's not near as good as Ricoh's true Adobe PostScript. Jobs rip considerably slower and the image quality isn't nearly as good as the Ricoh.

Czech is correct: there are Ricoh printer models with non-Adobe PostScript as well as 3rd-party Adobe controllers for Kyocera, Konica Minolta and Toshiba (each of whom have their own emulations.) My question is: why is "true" Adobe PostScript requested (especially in 2013 -- HP has been shipping an emulation for 15 years and is still #1, no?)

I'm curious what makes Toshiba so bad that you would rather put a 23 ppm Samsung. Regardless, one tact is to show the difference in available time. It isn't a perfect science but divide 8K by the speed of the machine. A 23 ppm unit is actually occupied 5.8 hours per month. A 45 ppm is occupied just under 3 hours. 8 hour days times 21 working days is 168 hours. "Mr. customer, is it worth $x,xxx to have your copier idle 165 hours vs 162 hours each month?"

I'm sure you'll get a lot of responses for this thread, when upgrading most users will want to stay with the same speed, unless you can convince them otherwise to go to a slower unit based on how many copies of each original is copied, the copy and print volume is low, and ask them how many times they actually print more than 45 pages at a time. I've got more but would like to hear from others.

Art, it's a part of the industry that I doubt you will get rid of. I would like to add my own "observation". I don't think that 99.9% of dealers do a good deal. If 99.9% was the case these instances would not even be noticed because they would be unheard of. I think the reality is that around 60-70% of dealers are OK. Another point is that the leasing companies do not give a damn about the state of the copier at the end of a lease. As long as the customer has made all the payments they're happy

I totally agree with you on this one. As of this morning I am seeing the new CW2200 as it is being setup, I am thinking, is this the best that Ricoh can come up with? In my opinion it will only cheapen the Ricoh name with this unit that looks like it is several different pieces that are now married together to create this unit. One of the biggest obstacles up until recently, was having to answer to a Sales Manager, who was totally incompetent, and the micro management he adopted in trying to gain kudos with management for his failure to produce a winning team formula was ridiculous. Fortunately, they have since given him the boot, and life is starting to get back to normal.

The Samsung machines are very impressive. I am not an easy person to impress. Great touchscreen and the menus make sense to the customer. Searchable PDF, OCR and a workflow app similar to DigiDocFlow right out of the box. The machines are well built on par or better than anything competitors like Sharp or Toshiba have out there. They really do have a lot to offer and the pricing is incredible. We brought on Samsungas our secondary line. As for Ricoh, I hope they step it up on the dealer side

Sorry Grant but I have to call you out.It is a big mistake for salespeople to assume that what is true in their case, is true across the board. It causes the salesrep to make mistakes in judgement and may cause them to unintentionally misinform their prospect. Anything that isn't required by law is negotiable and therefore will vary from lease company to lease company and dealer to dealer. So two dealers using the same lease company may have negotiated different terms.

Here's the math: 6,000 Square Feet / 60 minutes=100 square feet per minute Divide that by 3 (if your wide format is 36") to get linear feet per minute = 33.3 Divide that by 2 (since D is 24" long) to get 16.67 per minute This machine's rated speed is 12,000 sq feet an hour,or 200 square a minute. Divide that by 3.5 (since the machine is 42" width) to get 57.14 linear feet per minute. If you are printing D size prints, divide that by 2 to get 28.57 per minute.

That's not really the point I was trying to make. The point is that a salesrep shouldn't assume anything as fact because the facts vary from dealer to dealer and lease to lease. That having been said, you are missing a big part of the lease equation and that is the "alternative forms of revenue" that comes at the end of the lease. Anytime a lease is ended effectively, the lease company loses the chance of an automatic renewal (evergreen clause), in some cases they lose the chance to sell the

I have a trial out and the color reproduced on the copy is fine, however when printing from CAD the color of shading is not even close to what is being re-produced on an HP plotter (HP color does look better), I believe we are using the HPGL2 pc3 driver. Old Glory I agree!! Solutions take longer, I've been working on a secure print solution for almost 4 months. I'm lucky if the deal will top 40K and even luckier if I get the deal. I've tried to focus on higher end hardware and multiple units. The multiple units is tough because everyone is involved and margins are so so at best. MY only saving grace has been the wide format stuff.

The biggest challenge I see is that you have to sell so much more to make the same money you have in years past. It used to be that if someone needed duplexing, or stapling, or speed, etc. they had to pay for higher scale equipment. Now they can get for $3,000 what they used to have to pay $10,000 for. It used to be that everyone was a profitable prospect. Now only the upper 20-30% represent a potential revenue capable of earning over $1,000. Even solution sales are hard to build profit in and

Kitz: Not a bad idea, Ricoh may credit us $10 or so for the part and we'd pay $12.00 to ship it back to them. The screen should have been a standard feature and the manufacturers need to stop playing games with MSRP so that the price of the system is in line with others. Adding $189 on the MSRP is not going to hurt any sales n fact it would add sizzle and save dealers and sales people money. Being an option, I would get charged and additional fee to take the old one off and install the new one.

Anything specific about these print drivers that doesn't work so well? My experience is that the Ricoh drivers have always been a little bit quirky, but the majority of the time they operate as expected. Biggest issues I have found is the conflict between driver settings and machine settings, but will usually produce an error on OP panel.

business or larger direct operation with a local branch? GPS on a work van? Are you in sales or service? Two techs what do you guys have, like 400 accounts total? You are obviously new, How new are you to the industry? What are the other sales people doing? Are you collecting unemployment or did they challenge it based on non performance. This what I see... No hard keys Ricoh e-Sharing Box? Much smaller than invoice size printing 4800 x 1200 dpi Its interesting that they still promote RPCS Print Out Factory? 5 finisher options including an embedded It appears that there is an option of a Bridge Unit to exit Tray if you want another output destination without paying for a finisher.

You old employer will not be able to completely stop you from making a living in your field. In fact the more restrictive the non compete is the less likely a Judge will be inclined to honor it. Can you post the non compete agreement (just sanitize the names on it). I have heard of a Judge who allowed the ex employer to pick a very limited area (NOT New England, but maybe Boston proper) this leaves many other territories available for a Sales Rep to work. Or another Judge told the ex employer

It appears that it may be that the first time you try to print from Adobe XI it does not work properly by way of a pop-up that says"no pages selected" even though they have been selected. If you close it and reopen it may solve the problem. For whatever reason printing works now with the 3406W and Adobe XI. Also we forgot to tell the PS driver when it was downloaded that 36" x 48" is for tray 1 and 30" x 43" is for tray 2 (roll 1 and roll 2 actually). That caused problems also. Especially
