especially if they're in a marketplace where Canon or Ricoh or Konica Minolta have a much more competitive (read that "Less costly") Gov't Bid program in place and Xerox would not ordinarily be able to place equipment and sell toner otherwise. It work extremely well in the 70's and 80's for me as a K-12 Rep then.

Re: Network Install Guide For Dummies

·
This is why I don't like General Guides If a customer is using DHCP, simply picking a higher number is not safe. You (and your contact at the customer) may not be aware of other factors. There may be a different class of devices (such as servers or printers or whatever) that is placed into a higher DHCP range. If you want to be perfectly safe when the customer is on DHCP, their IT should provide you with an IP. Of course, I've grabbed a seemingly open IP in order to get he printer working too .

If the customer can't give me an IP or know of one that is available, I will use the one that was in the printer/copier that I am replacing. If it is a new install, I will ask their IT what IP to use or have them do it. So far it has not been an issue.

I need some suggestions. One of our production printing customers wants a color system that will print up to 12 point chromecoat, either from the bypass tray or other trays. The other feature is that it must print up to 12x18 paper. They have looked at the Savin C7570, but I was told this unit will only print up to a 10 point chromecoat, which they could live with, but they want another option. Speed is not that important as long as it will print on 12 point chromecoat. Is this an area that

An ldap scan to email search that doesn't require 5 button pushes (Xerox can in 2). Color scan on everything. Web access from MFP panel. More sophisticated scanning setup (create scan profiles in one application and then push to one or multiple devices simutaneously, Xerox does this). PostScript emulation at a fraction of the cost of the real postscript option (as most of our competitors have). Scan2print. Oh yes, and most important for Ricoh to stop trying to acquire it's already acquired

The PS3 option for most of the newer models includes PDF Direct Print. You can set up a scan to folder (FTP) using the IP address of the printer you want to output on. This gives you "Scan2Print" capability. And of course, you can choose another folder on the network to scan to in the same operation...

This Week in the Copier Industry 10 Years Ago, The Last Week in April 2003

Cool thread here for everyone, you should check this one out.
Sometimes you cannot satisfy a customer, no matter how much customer service you provide, and how well the system operates. Case in point...We have had this customer for 8 years, and had sold them a Savin 2527, and a Savin 4027sp as the latest series. They had a 48 month lease contract with full service, and had been happy up to 3 years ago, from what they say. Re: CUSTOMER BUYING MACHINES

I too have had a few customers that have bought from copier wholesalers that are selling on the web. In fact they are selling these units at the same cost that they will sell to us. The problem that arises with selling pre-owned, used, refurbs, is that the leasing companies will not fund these units at FMV, it's a $1.00 out which can then create some other hoops we have to jump through. Over the years I have always tried to stay away from anything used. You don't know the machines service

Work from ny tech department today was, we don't sell them, we just have a tech go down and clean them out. Kinda odd since we are in the business of buying and selling and making a profit.

Good morning: Configuring the SR5000 for either the GBC or BK5010 is not a new requirment. If you take a look at the last few generations of Ricoh MFPs that supported the options, there has always be the requirement to include the 100-sheet doument finisher when configuring the GBC or Plockmatic. While finisher models have changed (SR841, SR842, and now SR5000) the requirement has always been there.

Good morning: The truth of the matter is that the Xerox DC systems are 2400 dpi, but at 1-bit. The problem is that it can't be easily quantified, so no one talks about it. At the end of the day, don't get caught up into the

Just found out that a Savin 9033spf that I ordered last week is on backorder, all accessories shipped fine. I looked at the ETA, which shows September 2008. In other words, they have none in stock and no window of availability. However, there are still 3 of the Savin 9025's in California. If you're selling these, be prepared for a long wait!

A Targeted Prospecting List:

A Targeted Prospecting List: Your First Step to More Sales What's the first step toward making a sale? It's not setting an appointment. It's not even picking up the telephone. The first step in making your sale is to decide who to call. Who should you call? It's an old adage, but still true: if you are marketing to everyone, you are marketing to no one. So before you can develop a list of prospects to call you must first create a profile of your ideal customer. Be specific. The better and more

If you look in the footnotes that Ricoh has with their pricing, you will see that footnote (1) lists what is standard and the controller is not listed. Footnote(3) says "Machines do ot include a controller for network printing and scanning. Controller is ordered seperately." I'm sure the thought is that when there is a Fiery option, no one wants to have to pay for the Ricoh controller as well.

Color copies generate $0.054/copy ($.0135 x 4 clicks) plus retail on whatever colored toner they use. Cost is less than $0.021/copy excluding supplies. We are trying to decide how to price our maintenance also. There are many interesting aspects to this copier and it's printer cousin, the CL5000. If I understand everything correctly, the idea of billing a CPP for black and billing for color toner separately isn't a great idea as many of the "parts" (DV units, PC's) are "development" dependant, not copy (print) dependant. Using the Ricoh Service Cost Fact Sheet, it appears that the CPP for B&W with toner with a 30% margin would be about

This Week in the Copier Industry 10 Years Ago, The First Week of March 2008

In a few of threads that were posted for Production Copiers I see the cost per page was .0039 and .004.  Never, ever did I think that A3 black MFP's would go that low.  After seeing many bid quotes would it be far fetched to think that black could go down to .0025?
I guess for manufacturers or dealerships that aren't doing well, offering such low cost per page pricing on bids can get you cash flow on the short term. However it's going to bite them in the ass long term.  I read a report just a few days ago that placements in the US have dropped 6% since 2015 in the US market. Something to think about?  I wonder if that numbers covers all of the niche type boxes that we didn't have year ago.  Enjoy the threads from ten years ago this week.

After reading this, it sounds like Canon is trying to duplicate what Xerox did in the 1990's. Sooner or later it will come back to bite them in the rear, just like it did Xerox.

Since there aren't a lot of Ricoh-specific features on a SP4110n, maybe just pointing the old driver at the new printer (and re-naming it Ricoh SP4110n) will make the whole problem disappear? If all of the IT gods are rolling their eyes at me right now, I humbly ask forgiveness for being a "stupid salesman", but honestly, I've seen this work before. Good

I wish customers could give you the whole story the first time they call. I found out that this issue only happens when the customer is receiving a fax from one vendor. They would receive multiple copies of the same page from this one vendor. There would be an intermittent disconnect of the handshake between the two faxes. I suggested they put a line conditioner on the fax line. They already have that. They have an older Savin 4035spf that the faxes do receive from this one vendor. I also

Another "home-grown" solution like PrintMail is/was. The AIIM/OnDemand announcement says they are targeting it at the transpromo market. Just getting on my soapbox here: I really have to wonder why Ricoh invests its research and development in creating a VDP product when there are so many excellent products and plug-ins out there created by software/VDP experts. These experts are only too happy to partner with hardware experts, and most of the hardware experts are only too happy to partner with

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't most of "Ricoh's" solutions, re-labeled third-party stuff? Except for GlobalScan and DocumentMall (which was actually a seperate entity but wholly owned by Ricoh if I remember right or was that eCabinet?) third-party agreements? Typically, we find out soon after a launch that the "new" addition to the line-up is a tried-and-true but by a different name. Cost and Security Manager was EquiTrac, Print Director is PrintAudit, etc. I may have the associations wrong
