MFP Copier Blog

To Ricoh "What I Want for Christmas 2022"

I always like to start these Christmas blogs with a post with some snippets about Christmas tradition in other countries.

Ireland

Christmas for Irish people, who are Catholics, lasts from Christmas Eve to the feast of Epiphany on January 6th, which some Irish people call 'Little Christmas'. Epiphany isn't now widely celebrated in Ireland.

In Ireland, many people will put up their decorations, including the Christmas tree, on December 8th, which is the Feast of the Immaculate Conception.

There is an old tradition that in some Irish houses (although now not many), people put a tall, thick candle on the sill of the largest window after sunset on Christmas Eve. The candle is left to burn all night and represents a welcoming light for Mary and Joseph.  you can read more here

This blog will mark the fifteenth blog that I've posted over the years for "What I Want for Christmas" from Ricoh.  Over the years I've asked Ricoh to supply me with new products, and services that could help me sell more Ricoh stuff! There's ac couple of retreads from last year because I still need these! That's all I want is some cool new stuff for Christmas.

Geesh, what do I want this year, hmmmm…..now some of these are replays from last years wishes, but if you don't ask you don't get!

To Ricoh "What I Want for Christmas 2022"

1. I could really use some inventory on A4 MFPs both color and black this would make an awesome gift for the new year!  This way I would not have to turn away clients for 2023.

"Strange, isn't it? Each man's life touches so many other lives. When he isn't around he leaves an awful hole, doesn't he?"

2. What about giving us a 70/80/90 page a minute A4 black MFP's?  Ya know something we can crush the market with?  But they would have to come with finishing capabilities and have the cost per page model of A3 devices!

"Remember the night we broke the windows in this old house? This is what I wished for"

3. Year after year I keep wishing for a toner based color wide format MFP that will print 36 rolls of paper. In addition could you make this device print onto different substrates rather than bond paper?

"Now, you listen to me! I don't want any plastics, and I don't want any ground floors, and I don't want to get married - ever - to anyone! You understand that? I want to do what I want to do. And you're... and you're..."

4. I know I'm asking a lot, but how about some faster print speeds for black (more than 6.8) and color wide format (ink) MFP's? I've got devices in the field due for upgrades and there is no path to help those clients.

"Merry Christmas, movie house! Merry Christmas, Emporium! Merry Christmas, you wonderful old Building and Loan!"

5. How about some more videos of your products on YouTube.  However not those generic ones with the nice music and graphics.  I'd like to have more detailed videos that show features and how they will help my clients with their business processes. The world is all about video now.

"You've been given a great gift, George: A chance to see what the world would be like without you"

6. How about one single A3 model that can cover both black and color, along with speed licensing from 20-60 pages per minute?  In addition all of the accessories would be the same.  This would be awesome because we would only have to stock one MFP and dealers could buy and sell annual speed licenses (turn the speed up or down).

What is it you want, Mary? What do you want? You want the moon? Just say the word and I'll throw a lasso around it and pull it down. Hey. That's a pretty good idea. I'll give you the moon, Mary.

7. Oh boy, if could supply us with the one A3 MFP to cover replace the eight devices we have to buy now. The I hope you could also give us a variable speed license to sell.  Just think how awesome that could be for clients to speed it up or slow it down when needed!

Strange, isn't it? Each man's life touches so many other lives. When he isn't around he leaves an awful hole, doesn't he?

8. Can we please get wifi added to all of our devices as a standard feature?  This would make life so much easier in hybrid work office environments.

"HOT DOG"

9. I would like you to call George Kurtz and cut a deal to buy Crowdstrike!

For all of our readers that sell different brands, we would love to hear what you would like from your manufacturer.  Merry Christmas to all!

3 Reasons for Businesses to Choose Office Print Partners Over Amazon

3 Reasons for Businesses to Choose Office Print Partners Over Amazon

Amazon seems like a good resource for purchasing affordable office supplies. After all, they offer a wide range of options from a variety of suppliers all presented on a single platform.

Amazon also offers printing supplies that can fit many different office printing needs. The platform has many different sizes and types of paper, ink, and even toner. Some suppliers on Amazon even offer printer replacement parts like ink rollers. In addition to super-fast delivery options, it is hardly surprising that some businesses have become convinced it is one of the best options for much-needed consumables.

But is it really the best option? When we look beyond the supposed advantages, Amazon’s business model has significant flaws that could drain a company’s back-office time, resources, and money.

Unfortunately, many must learn the downsides of purchasing office print and other supplies through this popular online retailer the hard way. Here are three reasons businesses should choose office print partners for their print needs.

Business Purchases Through Amazon are a Nightmare for Accounting

By all appearances, Amazon offers a platform that makes it simple to quickly evaluate ratings, price ranges, and delivery timelines. And purchasing agents naturally lean toward the most affordable options that will arrive the fastest. But few pay any attention to which supplier or suppliers are originating the product.

But the ease of ordering from this large online retailer is not so simple when it comes to tracking and logging the purchase when it gets to finance. Because, when you purchase multiple items from Amazon, each item is typically sold by a different vendor.

Proper business accounting requires purchases from individual vendors to be recorded as separate transactions. So, what seems like a single invoice from one resource must be broken out based on the supplier.

Businesses subject to standard audits may even need W-9 forms and information from each vendor. Unlike the experience businesses receive with dedicated office print partners, tracking down business contacts to obtain those types of answers is time-consuming and difficult. Some of the companies selling on Amazon are nearly impossible to contact as they operate solely under the umbrella of the larger organization.

And the headaches finance experiences with Amazon orders are only the beginning of the problems a company can face.

Finding the Same Product or Product Quality Can be Hard

Finding the same product and supplier over and over is not an issue for most consumers, who usually use online retailers like Etsy, eBay, and Amazon for one-time purchases. Still, any regular Amazon user knows how common it is to find a specific product from a single supplier and have either one or the other disappear from the platform days or weeks later.

The same is true for office and print supplies. In some cases, the item is simply out-of-stock and will be available later. However, the big platform tends to be a revolving door of suppliers as supplier contracts expire or get canceled.

Amazon’s profit-sharing practices play a significant part in the fluctuation of supply quality and availability. Businesses operating on the platform incur costs ranging from six to fifteen percent when opening their business account.

In addition, vendors on Amazon are entrusting the larger business to handle reviews and complaints. Customers who complain are often provided free merchandise without appropriate verification of the issue and sellers are often not fully compensated for returned goods. These consistent losses, combined with the percentage paid to the platform, can easily drive many vendors out of business.

But finding the same vendors is not the only problem. As any Amazon user can attest, one of the best things about the platform is the ability to find the same product from multiple different vendors and compare pricing.

However, businesses should be careful about this option when ordering printing supplies. Amazon does not regularly monitor the quality or even the truthfulness behind product listings, descriptions, or even reviews.

The reviews, especially, can be misleading as the system lumps all reviews for the same product together, regardless of supplier. Good reviews might be written for a specific item such as ink, toner, or printer paper as they were delivered by a specific supplier. However, that review does not reference the supplier and will be included with all other iterations of the same product. So what is ordered may not match what is delivered and there is no way to know for certain until the ordered items arrive.

Amazon Deliveries Generate Excessive Packaging Waste

Amazon generated four hundred sixty-five million pounds of plastic packaging waste in 2019, according to an analysis of e-commerce packaging statistics by Oceana, and is estimated to be well over 500 million this past year. This includes materials like air cushions and bubble wrap used to cushion the transportation of almost 7 billion Amazon shipments.

Analysis shows that the plastic packaging waste from Amazon’s air pillows alone would circle the globe more than five hundred times.

While the corporation has options to ship in “as few packages as possible”, it doesn’t apply to the most common office and print supply orders where items are shipped from multiple vendors. Inevitably each vendor will have to send separate packages.

For busy companies, multiple deliveries are an added hassle. For one, the packages take up space and add to the trash production and costs for the office. Then there is the problem of deliveries coming at different speeds and arriving at different times. In many cases, this can disrupt standard office procedures and make things difficult for the front office or shipping/receiving staff.

Office Print Partners Offer Better Experiences

It’s easy to avoid the problems that come with shopping and purchasing office print and other supplies on platforms like Amazon. Rather than relying on the unreliable, businesses can choose to partner with reputable office print services providers. These tried-and-true businesses provide organized shipping and a single, trusted vendor.

Most importantly, office print partners like managed print service and printer leasing/maintenance providers offer quality, tested office print products combined with dedicated service for their clients. These businesses have thoroughly vetted the printing supplies, accessories, and machines they offer to ensure their business partners receive the most efficient printing available and the appropriate longevity, color, and quality from inks, toners, and papers.

Ordering office print supplies from online retail conglomerates like Amazon can be a tempting prospect for many businesses. But the downsides often outweigh the illusion of convenience and savings. Office print partners offer a better experience, quality print supplies, and, most importantly, the reliability every business needs to run smoothly.

CPC rates vs Machine Cost with Customers

·
So I was thinking after securing an order this morning about CPC rates vs Cost of Machine in dealing with clients. I have a current customer who decided to shop us but it turned out she didn't like the color on any other device except our Samsung. Looked at Ricoh, Canon and Konica from us, Toshiba and probably the rest of them. I posted about losing this deal a while back due to the Samsung/HP merger. I kept on her and changed her mind, put a demo in for a 40ppm color, and then wrote the order

The Depth And Breadth Of Your Conversations Will Determine The Relational Strength With Your Clients.

"A real conversation always contains an invitation. You are inviting another person to reveal herself or himself to you, to tell you who they are or what they want."
David Whyte

Are you building relationships or are you building transactions?

Are the conversations you're having with your clients transactional in nature? If so, I am here to inform you, you will be become replaceable.

Tough pill to swallow but transactional selling is replaceable by another salesperson who comes along with a better transactional conversation.

You are a transactional seller when you….

  • All you are concerned with and care about is the business at hand.
  • Stay so hyper-focused on finalizing the sale that you forget there is another human on the other side.
  • Fail to be fully aware and present as to the potential in the relationship. This means a true understanding of the goals, needs, gaps, values, fears and potential risk of your clients or future clients.

It is extremely difficult to build relational strength with your clients with a transactional mindset. These so-called relationships are unfulfilling and lack real strength. They lack real strength because they lack any kind of real depth.

It's concerning, in today’s society and business climate, we tend to have shallow, superficial relationships; as we have lulled ourselves into thinking they are much more than they really are.

It’s extremely hard for this kind of relationship to provide anything more than faint satisfaction and short-term results.

Are you inviting your clients into meaningful conversations or pushing them away with transactional behaviors and conversations?

DEEP CONVERSATIONS REQUIRE INTENT AND MEANING

“Our culture is all about shallow relationships. But that doesn't mean we should stop looking each other in the eye and having deep conversations.”
Francis Chan

Curious to know... Are you brave enough to share, kind enough to listen, and can you break-free from the shallows of small talk to dive deep into conversations with your clients?

Are you treading water, floating along the relational surface with your clients? Would you even know?

Are your conversations superficial, shallow and small or rich with deep meaning?

Psychologist Matthias Mehl at the University of Arizona studies conversations, and he defines small talk based on how much information is exchanged. "If afterwards I know nothing more about you than I knew before, then that will be small talk."

Let's think about this in the context of your client conversations, what are you learning about your clients and their business during each of your interactions?

There is value in small talk, but it still falls short of what many of your clients might be craving - meaningful conversation.

Matthias Mehl, refers to these kinds of conversations as "substantive", the key feature of deeper conversations is that you learn something.

This goes back to my point...

What are you learning about your clients and their business during your interactions?

He further states,

"If people start discussing information, then it becomes substantive … the most important point is that you get absorbed in the conversation, there’s information, there’s learning."

Just curious, what do all of you speak about when engaging with your clients?

Again, are you treading on the relational surface with small "chit-chatty" conversations or are you swimming in the business deep end, diving into conversational growth strategies?

You see, salespeople in superficial and shallow relationships with their clients will only talk about the present day because "future proofing" requires a deep investment of time, energy and commitment to relational betterment.

A relationship is shallow when it only exists on the surface and absent of any meaningful emotional connection.

Here is your mirror moment...

Are you a here and now sales rep or a forward-thinking sales professional?

Questions for you... And I really want you to think about them.

  • Why do many salespeople have mediocre at best client relationships?
  • Why do many salespeople struggle to form meaningful client relationships?

My response, because many salespeople can’t be bothered to learn how or have never been coached in building real relationships.

Here are signs you may have shallow client relationships...

  • Lack of communication
  • No discussions on the business future and what it looks like
  • Lack of shared values
  • Out of sight, out of mind
  • Only meet in a sales opportunity or when an issue arises

Have you ever asked your clients what they expect in a relationship with you? Not your company but with just you?

If the answer is no, then I strongly encourage you to ask, as you just might learn something that could remove the shackles holding you back from "next level" sales.

DEEP CONVERSATIONS CREATE CONNECTION

"Sometimes you have to disconnect to stay connected. Remember the old days when you had eye contact during a conversation? When everyone wasn't looking down at a device in their hands? We've become so focused on that tiny screen that we forget the big picture, the people right in front of us."
Regina Brett

Your big picture are your clients. Are you focused on connecting with your clients? Are you committed to deep, rich and meaningful conversations?

I love what Nicholas Epley, PhD, a professor of behavioral science at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business says when it comes to connecting,

“Connecting with others in meaningful ways tends to make people happier, and yet people also seem reluctant to engage in deeper and more meaningful conversation.”

He went on to further state,

"If connecting with others in deep and meaningful ways increases well-being, then why aren’t people doing it more often in daily life?”

Applied to the sales community,

If connecting with your clients in deep and meaningful ways increases well-being and your sales funnel, then why aren't salespeople doing it more often?

Whether you are a sales leader or a salesperson, I urge you to get engaged with your clients.

You must shift your mindset, and refocus your thoughts as engaged relationships translate to an increase in sales opportunities.

Build true, deep and meaningful relationships, not just one-sided affairs and watch your sales skyrocket and your leaky sales pipeline become ever-flowing.

If you crave an ever-flowing sales funnel, then build an ever-flowing client relationship funnel

Here are three things you can do to build relational strength with your clients.

BRING AUTHENTICITY TO THE FOREFRONT

Your client relationships must be built upon trust and trust is based upon authenticity. Your clients B.S. meters are extremely sensitive, as they can spot insincerity, and commission driven conversations.

The authentic YOU must be a genuine reflection of who you REALLY are. You must believe it. You must own it. You must know what it stands for. You must know your strengths and your weaknesses. You must be congruent with it.

Sales professionals proudly wear their emotions on their business sleeve as they connect to the relational hearts of their clients

It's about the personal connection. If you are 'blowing smoke' up your client's backsides what's the likelihood, they will trust you or even help you to grow your business?

Authenticity is a magnet in a world full of empty suits

STOP BEGGING

Expanding upon your relationships – it’s about establishing trust, credibility, and creating meaningful value; all without selling.

Engage your clients, communicate with them, add substantive value to their business, solve their problems, create opportunity for them, educate them, but don’t be dropping the sales hammer on them all the time!

Stale sales experiences and relationships die a slow and very painful death.

What concerns me about salespeople and sales leaders today, whether you believe me or not, is the lack of a true understanding around what it means to build genuine relationships.

Stop begging and bugging your clients to buy from you at month end, quarter end or year end, when you've done very little to enhance the relational experience.

Why would your clients help you to grow your business when you haven't helped to grow theirs?

LISTEN TO THEM

Successful sales professionals simply listen.

There is so much you can learn when you just listen

Intentional and focused listening is the key to becoming a powerful sales professional inside the relationship economy.

Developing excellent listening skills separates the good from the great. When you listen to your clients you learn things, their business goals, their personal aspirations; all this to do one thing - strengthen the relationship and grow your business.

When you struggle to listen, you miss all the critical material to build a meaningful relationship.

The simple act of listening is one huge key to growing your business, strengthening your sales pipeline and enhancing the relational growth with your clients.

YOU MUST CARE ABOUT YOUR RELATIONSHIPS

“I’m not telling you it is going to be easy- I am telling you it is going to be worth it.”
Art Williams

Building client relationships requires discipline. Are you committed?

Long-term client relationships, and I know that is what you want, must be deep and must be built to weather the storms. There will be bumps and some choppy waters, however; the more you invest in these relationships the more you collect on these relationships.

I will leave all of you with this...

  • Genuinely care about your clients
  • Remember your clients
  • Connect with your clients
  • Celebrate with your clients
  • Respect your clients
  • Deliver on your promises with your clients

And most of all... Love your clients. Because if you don't, I guarantee there will be a Selling from the Heart sales professional to gladly step right in.

Re: Embedded Controller and batch printing

to batch plot on the embedded controller - you can use webprint for TIFF and PLT files ONLY. You can batch PDF's with DTB lite if a FULL version of Abobe is loaded on the same workstation as DTB, or if using DTB pro. You can drag PDF's directly into the print driver (however, if you need 3 sets, drag 3 times...) You can load KIP request ( a free download from kipusa.com) on the customers workstation, and use that, pointed to the TCP IP address of the Ricoh... (NOT RECOMMENDED!!!)

Best set up for batch printing is w/ external controller, Plot Client WIN and PS, DWG licenses. Processes drawings in 30 seconds rather than 3 minutes, and is versatile for todays customer requirements, ie: printing out bid sets from electronic files off CD's, e-mail or websites. Use the Ricoh Scanner Option for direct network scanning.

Frankly I'd charge a lower color click rate and say to the customer "we trust YOU to manage your color output, why waste those FREE color copies if you don't use them". Of course, I get nothing for clicks or MA's as a sales rep, give me the profit on the box and I'm happy.

ASTONISH CUSTOMERS Providing outstanding service means nurturing your clients by consistently doing things that move the customer from mere satisfaction to astonishment. In other words, even though delivering a quality job on time may often require that your salespeople go out of their way, in most cases the client won’t acknowledge the salesperson’s extra efforts because they perceive these efforts as the salesperson’s duty. The quid pro quo in Sales

About a month ago I had a call from an existing client to meet about upgrading two of their older copiers that they owned and were under a maintenance agreement.
That call came from the new IT Director since the existing IT Director was retiring.  That meeting went well and since there were four other A3 printers, service has been exceptional, I priced those two MFP's with acceptable gross profit (I'm not in this business to give **** away because we all have to eat).  In addition when I asked "is there any issues or problems we need the address with the new IT Director the answer was "everything great".

Darkness

Over the next 3 to 4 weeks this client when dark and all of my attempts to connect via call, email and stop in lead to zero responses.  It was a few days ago when I hear from my AR person about the dialog they had with the client.  That dialog was in reference to a past due invoice for the maintenance agreement for the two copiers that they asked for me a quote for replacement.

Evaluating options

Thus, it was time to send another email to the client and the response was "we are still evaluating our options".  Okay, so the typical response should be?  I used "I understand the need for options, can you tell me what your other option(s) are?  A few minutes passed and the response was what I thought it would be, they are looking at another device from a another vendor.

Ah Ha Moment

It was a few minutes until it clicked and thus I knew exactly what was going on.....the new IT Director brought in a competitor for a price check.  I'm thinking from his previous gig since he was the new IT Director.  I can't blame him for that and this can happen whenever we encounter a new Decision Maker. It's common that they will want to make a splash and raise the flag to show the owner/director that they saved them money by moving to a new vendor/manufacturer.

Buyers Can Be Liars

I'm too old to get upset when something like this happens, heck I've been on the other end of this when my DM moves to another account and brings me in.  However what I'm not a fan the deceit that he perpetuated with the comment that they wanted to see if we could give them a month to month on the maintenance agreement that was due to renew.

quid pro quo

I was able to flush him out with a series of covenants that I added to giving in to his request for the month to month maintenance agreement.  Meaning he gives me a copy of the current proposal and or allows me to match the price. In addition if I match the price that he will move forward with our proposal.  Seems he did not like this and replied that he is no longer interest in the month to month for the maintenance agreement from us (email response)  Yes, he never told that he ordered from the other vendor (I believe he did).  Something like this should always raise a red flag to all of us when a new DM comes in and asks for something that is out of the norm.

The IT Director knew exactly what he was doing.  He needed to buy some time because  he couldn't get the replacement copiers for some time, thus the reason for asked for the month to month.

Just thought this might help others when something like this comes up. Curious to hear from others if you've had something like this happen also.

Why Subscription Models Are Best for Managed Print Services

Why Subscription Models Are Best for Managed Print Services

A subscription is a consumer or business agreement to pay a specific amount of money every month to receive a product or service. Utilities such as electricity, water, and sewer, could all be considered subscription services. Internet and trash are two more monthly payments deemed essential for both businesses and homes.

Other non-essential subscriptions have always existed. For example, magazines and newspapers have run on a hybrid of subscriptions and advertising revenue since their inception. But few would consider either product necessary to standard survival. The same could be said for Netflix, Hulu, Spotify, and other video and music streaming services.

And subscriptions did not stop there. Industries saw considerable opportunities in using the internet to create accounts that could deliver or provide access and monitor use. Building on the success of Netflix, online gaming, and other consumer platforms, a template was created, and now Software as a Service (SaaS) has hit the mainstream. Services like Zoom, Docusign, and even the Adobe Creative Suite are standard SaaS.

In recent years, however, it seems like just about everything has changed to a subscription-based model. As a result, you can purchase pretty much anything, including toothpaste, shampoo, razors, or even underwear, to be delivered monthly, bi-monthly, or every 90 days. But why?

Financial Benefits Of Subscriptions

One of the most prominent arguments for taking a business to a subscription model is revenue. Standard printing services either wait for client contact or check in regularly with their customers to determine paper, ink, and toner orders. Some Managed Print Services (MPS) providers have implemented the technology required to track ink and toner levels to assist with the timing of contact for order placement. Unfortunately, this process often leads to large fluctuations in monthly revenues for the MPS. For the client, it can create large jumps in outgoing expenses.

Customized Billing

Subscriptions offer an opportunity for MPS companies to customize billing for individual business clients even further. Right now, MPS typically charges monthly service costs and runs with a pay-as-you-go for materials. Under a subscription platform, they could package those consumables costs with the monthly service charge. Or they could choose to offer consumables subscriptions as an add-on option. Either scenario helps the customer and the MPS move those “unpredictable” costs into a standard, trackable, and budget-friendly number.

Consistent Non-Fluctuating Cost

But converting those fluctuating dollar amounts for ink, toner, and paper into a subscription has an added benefit. Customers don’t have to hunt for lower prices through questionable and potentially lower quality options to reduce the sudden uptick in expense. Instead, they have already budgeted their consumables expenses monthly with their preferred printing services provider.

And, with clients less likely to go “shopping” elsewhere without good reason, MPS businesses can enjoy additional guaranteed monthly revenue seeing “churn” rates, or loss of customers, drop even further. The average church rate for b2b subscription services

Average churn rates for B2C subscription services are a surprisingly low 6.25%. Any voluntary drop-off or “voluntary churn” typically occurs within the first few months of any initial sign-on. Voluntary churn accounts for the majority of lost, around 5.07% of subscribers. The other 1.18% is considered involuntary and is typically incurred by payment issues.

For MPS providers who need even more incentive to consider subscription services for their consumables, it is essential to remember that recurring revenues make businesses more valuable. If both services and products are wrapped up in monthly payment contracts, the entire company becomes an even more solid investment.

Meeting Customer Demand

But it is far more than money that is helping drive MPS providers to subscription models. It is also the expanded ability to meet partner demands. For example, most MPS already monitor ink and toner levels across machines. Many can also keep track of the number of prints and how much paper has been consumed. When this information is paired with the ongoing product purchase information, it is even easier to make predictive subscription and delivery suggestions and have deeper conversations with clients.

Has a partner seen a steady increase or decrease in print use? Maybe client services or sales representatives should contact them about adjusting their subscription. Has a particular machine seen an uptick in use? Perhaps a different model would serve that particular location better. More data means being able to serve customers better. In today’s economy, that type of service can make a huge difference.

How to Get Started

Most companies who jump into the world of subscriptions create one or more “levels” of subscription groupings and consider it done. But we don’t live in a one-size-fits-all world anymore. Clients expect more.

While two or three entry-level or example subscriptions may set the general tone, the printing industry requires a more customized approach. In the same way, they approach printer placements and configurations, MPS businesses creating consumables subscriptions should focus on specialized pricing that caters specifically to each partner’s needs.

MPS companies who work with PowerMPS already have the tools they need to make subscription-based consumables a reality in their business. Custom price levels let MPS set their standard package settings as well as their al-a-carte options. However, customer-level coupons and custom pricing options allow MPS providers to create the pricing and package options needed to cater specifically to each customer’s needs. The universal price levels are for everyone. Yet when customers log in to their particular account, they have complete access to their special pricing and subscription options, including wish lists and shipping preferences.

There is a reason you can purchase pet supplies for monthly delivery. Monthly recurring income is the business model of the future. For MPS providers, updating to a subscription plan for products as well as services is a surefire way to gather essential data, build better relationships, and increase customer retention into the future.

You Can Always Win from Losing

Nothing is written in stone unless you have the order docs in hand. Yes, I hate to lose, however when I lost today with a very important opportunity I didn't feel that bad.

Don't get be wrong it sucked, however I did get a call from the client explaining why the went they way that they did and thanked me for the professional manner that I approached the sales process.  For me, the art of the phone call from the potential client meant that I did every thing right.

Sometimes even when we do everything right we can still lose because we did not have the right fit for the client.  All of the one on ones went well, all of the right questions were asked and it came down to a junta that meet to make the final decision.

In my case speed outweighed quality and price was never a consideration.  I was behind the 8 ball from the start because I knew the competition was going to be tough to beat, however all we can do is present our best stack.

With 13 selling days left this hurt, however I can also look on the brighter side of things.  The brighter side would be the 13 selling days that remain, of course it's not going to be easy to replace that revenue but if you don't try you don't get.

This is why we never count our chickens before they are hatched. It's time to get back to work and shed the tears of disappointment and look forward to finishing strong.
