Second Week of October 2006

In my previous report about the reduction of 400 billion printed pages globally was a little shocking when I saw the numbers (12%) .  From 2015-2019 IDC reported an annual decrease of 1.2% annually for printed pages from office and home devices. Thus I'm taking that the COVID19 was 11%. IDC states that 6 million pages were printed globally every minute in 2019. Let' understand the numbers.

Unigraphics Files - OCE vs Ricoh - Any OCE Dealers have an answer?

I have a customer that has problems printing files from UG. If they properly set the "size", the file is printed properly. If the "size" is not set, the image is printed but in a reduced size. They also have an OCE and supposedly they never get small sized prints from the OCE and my IT contact is thinking that they do not need to set the "size" with the OCE but they have to do so with their 470W. Are their any OCE dealers out there that know if printing from UG is any simpler on the OCE vs

HP plans to introduce 50ppm business color inkjet in 2007, target list price of $8K. Hp also plans to take dominate position in the market place with thier ink technology. Riso/Olympus ink technology is inferior when it comes to business color, also all ricoh has is the 615C which is 4 or 6ppm in color. Used to use GE, left b/c their service got worse and worse...there have been a few cases where they contacted our customers offering buyout of their leased equipment. We switched to Great America. They were great for a couple of years. In our experience, GE is now kicking GA's but in rates. On a 3k deal where we're selling a payment there's $252 more gross profit with GE. Try telling a sales rep that it's worth $125 of their profit to go with another leasing company. GA's service is better and

Everything changes. Ink still has a long, long way to go. We have one of the Savin 1506 gelsprinter mfps on the floor and so far all it's good for is upselling. Whatever the case, I'm sure RFG will continue to succeed. Already they are leading the industry with prototypes like the one I mentioned above. Remember the first b2c? Savin 2408 or Ricoh 1224 I believe...hated it. But the new "B2C" machines are far superior to the competition. There's one thing that HP still doesn't have. Feet on the

Isn't this kind of old news? Both Ricoh and Brother (and Riso) have hi-speed inkjet, at least as prototypes. I think it is a matter of very little time before everybody sells this kind of technology.

Thanks for the download. If HP cant get a CEO that they can trust, how are they going to find 2k+ quality sales people? My Group is quite a large reseller of HPmfps and I have always believed that if they ever got the product mix right, and the support infrastructure concentrating on true customer service, then they would probably achieve their original goals in this market. Are they now on course to achieve this I wonder?

The original Mp 5500/6500/7500 models will be able to be upgraded to enable compatibility with the fax option. However it could be a time-consuming process. Main units manufactured after the spec change (november production/December availability) will be "fax-ready" meeaning, they can accept the fax option without the upgrade.

Does anyone have a customer using this product to create PDF files? I am trying to close a deal but the PDF that we received as a test does not print properly. The thumbnail in Plotbase matches the paper output but the thumbnail does not match the original file when viewed in Adobe. When the file is opened in the Scantool Editor, the image is changed (it actually mathces the PB thumbnail and paper output). The problem is that there are very faint lines that appear in a dark shaded section

Any opinions on how these have sold historically and how they have fared in the last year or so as they become old? Also, does it seem like they are being replaced or just discontinued? I feel like there is not a huge market for ultra low-end A3 BW MFPs. I think only Kyocera has a walk-up A3 BW MFP below 20ppm.

Here is how to sell against MY SHARP. I have worked for Sharp many years. First the dealer has to build the site. It is quite limited and there are a handful of features that can be displayed for each function. Although it is a cool feature the reality is that it is barely used. I have set many of these up in the past but on follow up they were not used. It is a nice catch and talk track but should not be a deal breaker. These notes came from Neal. I know his wife was sick last year and he slowed with the notes (the notes actually come from someone at KonicaMinolta). Neal started back up and then had some pressure put on him by the folks at KM that they did not like seeing the notes on this site (Quess all manufacturers are the same.....DA's) and his site in it's complete form. Year after year, the nursing profession has been ranked at the top of the trust meter.

Digging a bit into the Nursing profession, I came across the phrase Intentional Caring.

Intentional caring was coined by Jean Watson. She is an American nurse theorist and nursing professor who is best known for her theory of human caring. She is also the founder of the Watson Caring Science Institute.

The nursing profession has embraced the theory of Jean Watson’s Caring Science. Caring Science is about embracing the positive energy that flows from an integrated mind, body and spirit and is mutually rewarding to both the patient and the nurse.

She believes nurses are optimally positioned to be the heart of healing. By actively engaging in caring through authentic presence and intentionality, nurses are equipped to be able to optimize their patient’s ability to heal from within.

Could intentional caring be the difference in building or not building genuine client relationships?

Be the difference. It’s what you say and do, and how you say and do it. Caring, it is about unveiling our true thoughts, feelings, and attitudes and allows us to live more authentically in our relationships.

Jail Break and I'm Out of Cardiac Jail

Actually I've been waiting to get out of Cardiac Jail for the last thirty days!

I was finally sprung mid-afternoon on Friday the 8th and I decided to take a couple of days from posting anything on the Print4Pay Hotel and social media for the weekend.

After my first stent (3) procedure it's been more about just trying to pace with work and all of the changes in my life. Yes, things had to change and it was more about how I had to change.  During those days there wasn't much I could do rather then sending and answering emails along with a few phone calls.

Make of those calls in the first days was though and I was doubting my ability due to my loss of words and train of thought. I was promised by my Neurologist that as time passed I would get back to my excellent communication ways in 5-12 months. It's now 2 weeks short of two months and I feel I'm getting mentally stronger each day.

My VP

In the beginning I had some time with my VP of Sales (Tim) and I enjoy what we've developed over the years.  It will be sad for the one day when I finally decide to pack in the retirement watch one day .

In the early days of my stroke I had a chat with Tim about my Neurologist about what I've lost mentally. It was more about a game of word association like "name five types of fish", then "give me five movies you've recently watched". There is no doubt was pretty poor at the start of the game. In fact,  I was maybe naming one of the five for each category and that stated to worry me.

My second track with the Neurologist was centered around work.  What I remember and what I don't remember and not remembering is the toughest part when you're not being asked questions.  However I asked the "Dr" can you ask me these questions about work.  We centered on sales and prospecting to start. First question up was asking me about my sales job and believe it or not everything was perfect!  I had no loss of memory for anything related to work and my sales job. Whew, that made be feel so much better

The next question asked me to tell me 5 things about prospecting...........such a crucial part of my job it is. I tracked a zero for answering any questions about prospecting, in fact my wife (she was there also) gave me a hint and tried jogging me with a cell call to kick start the prospecting.

That hint failed also, and it's obvious that I had a problem larger that I thought.  I had forgotten how to prospect even on the phone! My on my, forty plus years of prospecting out the door!  After a couple of hours we finally finished with my Dr.  as he supplied me with a note for Tim my VP of Sales.

"Please excuse Art from all activities of prospect and especially by the phone,  because has lost the ability to recall any level of prospecting".

Now that's a good one and yes that's a joke that I spoke about in the early days, there was no note and Tim was a great sport about my shenanigans.

Prospecting

There are days when I can go ten rounds when sparring with a verbal chat and there are other days when I'm lucky if I can go one.

I am lucky because I can see that I am getting better and that helps the process.

The Future

I'm not sure where my future lies right now. Three months ago I would have stated I'd be doing this for another 20 years.  I know that I still love what I do and don't plan to stop it, however time and GODS will may take me down other paths.

I do need to thank my wife again and again for all of her support and he love.

My question to all those in sales... Why can't we bring this to our client relationships? I believe this would put you in a better place with your clients.

Compassionate selling is the call for changing times within the business community

COMPASSION CHANGES EVERYTHING

To come out ahead on the other side of this crisis, think about leading yourself and your clients with compassion.

Merriam Webster defines compassion as,

"Sympathetic consciousness of other's distress together with a desire to resolve it."

Compassion comes from the Latin word “compati,” which means “to suffer with.” It is more than empathy and care, it is the sincere burning desire to help someone who is suffering, and to be able to help ease their pain.

What would happen if you brought compassion to your client relationships?

Think about all the distress your clients are going through.

Selling from the Heart professionals rise up and end the suffering inflicted by all the empty suits.

Bringing compassion to the forefront, it is not for the weak at heart. It is for those professionals who care. It's for those professionals who give a rip.

Compassion calls for salespeople to unite, take action and make change.

If you want to stand out from all the other empty suits and "me-too" sales reps, it can't just be about you. It must bigger than you.

  • What do you truly expect and desire from me?
  • What is one thing I can help you with right now?
  • What matters to you the most?
  • What can I do to better serve you?

CONNECTING WITH COMPASSION CANNOT BE FAKED

Compassionate and heartfelt salespeople seek to influence, not take advantage of their clients. They encourage. They lead with hope. They guide, acknowledge and support their clients. They smash together their efforts, skills, talents, insights, passion, enthusiasm and commitment to work because they care.

Bringing compassion, caring and connectivity is jet fuel for building meaningful client relationships.
